Anybody doing anything special to prepare for XTrain?

I put together a rotation for myself using the Hiits, various kickboxing, To the Max, and Crossfire for cardio. For weights I'm using 4DS. For core I've just started Horizontal Conditioning Getting Started. I've always had the weakest core. I'm avoiding step because I don't believe there is any in XTrain.

I'd love to hear if anyone else is trying to prep for XTrain and what you're doing.

I've been doing split weight work (1-3 muscle groups). I was actually forced to consider this while having to change my schedule around to accommodate shorter w/o's in the evening. I will be sticking with this workout routine, not only to prepare me for Xtrain, but I find my body responds better to this type of training -- it's hard for me to build muscle unless I can really focus on UB/LB separately. I've been using mostly 4DS weight work, as I find I get the best bang for my buck in the least amount of time.

Not really Xtrain related, but I have been embracing Yoga 1X/week into my exercise routine -- I might even up it to 2X. My flexibility sucks :(. I also tend to neglect my core, and with Yoga you have no choice but to work all the muscles in the body. Overall, I am striving for balance with weights/cardio/flexibilty. This should take me into 2013 hopefully in good shape and with no winter/holiday weight gain :D.

I havnt done anything for xtrain however.. I been doing alot of step aerobics because I love it and know xtrain wont have any lol. I get tired of drills so I wanted to not do drills till it comes in because I dont want to get burnt out before I get it. I am trying to get my feel of step .. Hope that makes since.
 
I'm just finishing up the Rock Bottom rotation and it's been over a month since I've used anything from LIS as well as TTM & CF. My plan is to do something that is in between what Barbara & Natasha are doing. I want to make sure legs are ready to spin with XTrain! Can't wait :eek:

I am on 3 1/2 month STS rotation...My cardio are mainly Hiit and metabolic.
I am loving STS and this keeping the XTRAIN awaiting bearable!:p:p:p
I am also waiting for HC by post hoping to like it , stick to it and eventually gain abs strength.

Yes, I have been doing a rotation to note my new 1Rm's (taking the summer off has really decreased my lifting weight) -- so I am ready! :)

Like Jann, I'm doing a rotation the utilizes STS so I can get my 1RM all set to go! I've modified Cathe's 3 Month Transformation Rotion that used STS/LIS by eliminating the step workouts and adding in the low impact premixes of CF & TTM (I'm temporarily "grounded" by plantar fasciitis :(). I'm also doing everything in my power to avoid the Holly Day goodies :eek:!
 
I never thought of recalculating my 1RM. That's a great idea, but I'm probably too lazy to do it :p
Renee, it does make sense to get your step in now when you can. Maybe I'll throw one in just for fun.
I'm thinking I'll be doing XTrain in January, fingers crossed. I'll need it because I'm usually not good at avoiding the holiday treats. I'm going to a cookie swap this Sunday and will probably be very, very bad! :eek:

I am doing the Peak Fit Challenge set by Michelle Dozois. I am really enjoying it!! And I am seeing some real results in my body. I have not lost any weight, but that is my fault :(...If I would buckle down and eat clean I would look amazing.
 
I have a Peak 10 cardio DVD, and I love it. Do you feel that her weight work in Peak 10 is good? I have some of her older DVDs and they were a bit wimpy. I am tempted to get that set.

Lol oh gawd me too! I so need to lose weight for my knees but I keep eating to much! I eat good healthy food but even at 43 healthy eating needs to b limited. Gawd I know I need to tape my mouth ..lol I was thinking of doing peak 10 but afraid once I get them I wont like it.
 
Apparently my approach I'd resting up. I'm so busy and exhausted lately I have worked out about twice in three weeks.
 
I'm doing an upper/lower split twice per week for lifting and allowing myself a free for all with the cardio. Ive had a hankering to do the older workouts and am letting myself do it for December since I know I will be totally committed to XTrain for 90 days.

I have found I really like the weight workouts. They are challenging and not wimpy and all. ONE THING: she uses a band that comes with the set. However, I do not use the band every time she does, but I use weights which are easy to substitute. Also, she does not use the band a ton so that makes it good too. FYI, I have NEVER been a fan of band work and generally prefer weights. At the end of the workouts I feel like I have really gotten a good workout.

Also, i started out with her Peak 10 Cardio Strength workouts which are KILLER! And I liked them so much, I simply HAD to get the whole set when it came out. My fitness gains have been quite measurable!

For example, tonite I substituted IMAX2 for a Cardio workout in the set because I wanted to see how far I have come. (I use IMAX2 to gauge/measure how I am doing). On Oct 27,12 I did it with one riser and struggled a bit to complete it without modifying it. Tonite, Dec,. 4, 12 I did the whole IMAX2 with TWO risers and did the whole enchilada WITHOUT modification. I could not believe it!!!!

Peak Fit works!!

I'm doing the July 2012 rotation. I want to rock Tabatacise. Crossfire and TTM with 2 split wt work outs a week plus kickboxing. Bring it on Xtrain!
