And the results are in...

To all of you wonderful, wonderful ladies who supported me through the last few weeks, I thought I'd post the results. Everything came back benign. The thyroid lumps are a cyst and a nodule, but both are totally benign and no threat. I will need a 6 month follow up (and probably a follow up every 6 months from there on out) but I'll do that gladly for those results. The breast biopsy never happened actually as I went in and the doctor said, "Oh, I think these are milk calcifications." She proceeded to tell me what to expect, ordered a few more mammograms (hint - get a really good case of DOMs in the chest before the next mammogram - it won't bother you at all!) and sure enough, they were exactly as she said. So, no need for a biopsy.

I am so glad to hear your thyroid biopsy came back negative. You definitely want to keep an eye on your nodules. I also had a lump on my thyroid about 11 years ago and had the biopsy and the doc said everything is fine. After my daughter was born 3 yrs later I switched docs and had commented to him that it seemed that my nodule had grown a little. ( It should have completly shrunk due to the radioactive iodine treatment I had). Sure enough after another biopsy and u/s , I was diagnosed w/Thyroid cancer at age 36. It has been 6 years since the surgery and everything is fine except for the darn weight gain,
Didn't mean to put a damper on your good tests results, but keep a close eye for any changes in size.

Carolyn - oh, my doctor has told me that he needs to keep on top of these as I'm pretty lumpy and bumpy. He will be doing ultrasounds every six months with biopsies of anything that looks suspicious. But, thanks so much for the warning. As my thyroid levels are normal, he's not going to give me any treatment right now. I'm really happy that you're doing okay. I hope you get the weight off - that was one thing I was NOT looking forward to - I gain weight so easily as it is.
