Christine,

I've been thinking about you. Soooooo relieved to hear your good news.

And OMG what a beautiful woman you are...your family is gorgeous.

I am curious, did your doctor have any idea about what caused this? Two of my friends have had the same scare in the past year. Both had to have half of the thyroid removed, but thank God everything came back cancer free. My friends are both very active fit women, but were having hypo symptoms when the nodules appeared. They both now have to take thyroid supplementation. Glad to hear your results were so good. My friends are both doing great too. Meds have them back to normal!

What a great way to start the holiday season! Congratulations on the spectacular news. Continued good health to you!!!!

Wow! I’m overwhelmed by the response here! What a wonderful group of ladies we have on this forum!

Hopeful – according to my doctor, what causes this is unknown, but 1 in 4 or 5 women will experience thyroid problems of some kind in their lives. I specifically asked if there was something I could do to prevent more lumps and bumps. And I’ve done a lot of research and according to John Hopkins, no research has been done into the possibility of how diet might affect the thyroid, so there’s no clues to be found there, which is disappointing. There is some speculation that soy can cause some Hypothyroid symptoms – which is the never ending hunger and weight gain, to mention a few, but it’s only one study and has never been confirmed. The only dietary link is iodine – and with severely salt restricted, no seafood diets, that may be a point. It’s not with me – I like salt. I’d like to this my diet and exercise has kept my thyroid levels normal, but the truth is, I just don’t know.

Christine, as far as the salt goes, check out this site. I've been using this salt for years and it is the absolute best. Everybody who uses salt should try this. It has trace minerals and so many wonderful properties. It's cheaper to buy it in a health food store as the shipping charge costs more than the product itself because of its weight. Hope this helps.
