Luckily, there are two female contestants that are expendible (Antoinella and Haley) and if they go tonight, everything will be okay. But I wonder if the "vote for the worst" crew will keep one of them around, and knock one of the other women off. That would be a shame.
I had to laugh after Haley (whose name I counldn't remember either) sang and Simon said it sounded like a bad High School musical performance. I was thinking the exact same thing (it sounded like a high school performance) while she was singing.
And Antoinella actually did better last night, I thought, than she had previously...at least for 3/4 of her song. But she doesn't seem able to keep on key for an entire song.
At least once the top 12 are chosen, there won't be some lame "X-many 'girls' and X-many 'boys'" rule, and most of the guys can hit the road (that is, if people vote fairly, and not just to screw up the contest. Though if it's like previous years, several not-so-good singers will outlast some better ones).
Lakisha is back! I thought her performance last week wasn't as good as the first week, but last night she was back! I thought the judges---who usually caution contestants about singing songs by Mariah, or Whitney or Christina or Celine: all the singers will 'pipes'--would say something about how they usually worry about it, but Lakisha did a great job on a Whitney tune.
My favorites so far are Lakisha, Melinda and the woman with the long tight curls (I'm aweful with names).
This could be a really interesting season if those three get into the top 4.
