American Idol

As much as it is ridiculous, the voting system is not going to change. As far as Fox and the producers go - this is great TV. Totally unpredictable and dramatic. Makes you want to watch...

I agree that those 2 squeaked on by, but it really doesn't matter. Does anyone consider the majority of these people in competition with Melinda or Latisha?
 
I think Antonella should try out to be one of the next Pussy Cat dolls! Honestly, that is a great place for someone like her. She can sing a bit, is drop dead gorgeous. Wonder is she can dance...you know: A hot dancer who just happens to sing!...Perrrrrfect. dme

i agree..... the voting system sucks.... but we've also been griping about it for 5 years now (well... me for 4 years... i didn't watch season 1) they aren't going to change it.....

Did anybody else get the feeling that Antonella was surprised that she was voted off? Poor dear, she's really not that good of a singer. As far as her being drop dead gorgeous, she's okay. Nice body, nice hair, but the teeth and mouth have to go.

Sanjaya??!!!???!! How can girls like him? He's so feminine.

Melinda and Lakisha could record right now. They're awesome.

After she sang this week, she seemed to be completely oblivious to the fact that pretty much everyone else sang better than her (except for Haley, maybe). She just defended her mediocre talent by saying that she shouldn't be compared to anyone else, and just be judged for herself, because her style was different. (I agree, "mediocre" IS different from "star quality").

You obviously didn't grow up in the 70's, when somewhat feminine guys, with long hair (like the "Keith Partridge" actor) were making girls swoon!).
 
I think the point is that girls are not ones necessarily voting for Sanjaya...perhaps he is getting the gay vote...perhaps he is not gay. My daughter is a theater arts student and works with gay men all the time. She is often surprised that some of the men she would guess to be gay are not and visa versa. Takes all kinds to make this wonderful world spin!

This is my first season watching. Is the American voting population always this, hmm, how shall I say it, lacking in good taste? I agreed with one of their choices. I guess that's better than none.
 
I like Sanjaya's voice. I could care less about his looks, demeanor, etc. His voice is just unique. So I like the girly dude. lol. I don't have a favorite yet. The girls are much better. I don't like Antonella...I really don't think she sounds all that. She is only still there because she looks good...just my opinion. I never cared for Sundance Head (what a name) lol. I don't like the bald dude with the grandpa hat. I really do like Melinda..everything about her..so far.

Live in the UK. Simon Cowell is much gentler to the contestants tnan in the UK version. It seems a bit tame and the audience reserved.
 
I would love to see them do a change to the voting - more along the lines of what Dancing with the Stars does. 50% judges vote/50% viewers vote. And you can only vote a certain number of times. BUT, as was mentioned above - I doubt that will happen since this is getting everyone talking! However; my DH and MIL are both saying they won't watch anymore this season....Guess I'll have to TIVO!!
