A whipper snapper of a workout....

Hi All! As I sit here on my sore derriere, I thought I would share with you the reason why! A couple of days ago I needed to check an edit point on Mesocycle #2 Legs, and while watching it with all the huffing and puffing included, I got warm fuzzies of that day and wanted to be back in the moment (what was I thinking ..LOL). So I laced up and went off to the filming studio to do this workout.....

HOLY DOMS! I'd forgotten just how challenging this triset workout was. This is one super tough workout that will challenge your legs, your glutes, your heart, and your stamina for sure. You will shape/define/strengthen your legs without having a choice in the matter. Because the workout is set up in a triset format, meaning you do three leg exercises back to back before resting, (ie: say a set of squats, a set of lunges, and a set of deadlifts all back to back) your legs are screaming and your heart rate is up there and you're burning serious calories. The entire workout consists of various triset leg/glute exercise groupings. Each grouping is done for three sets total(with a one minute rest between each set) before moving on to the next triset grouping.

I can't wait for the day that you type in and tell me about it.....even if you have to stand while typing }( }( }(

Hi, Cathe,
Thanks for that little taste of what it's going to be like! I can't wait for that day either!

Oh MAN ---- that just makes me want it MORE!!!!! Oh those little teasers -- WE CAN'T WAIT!! But you know of course that we will. The best takes time and we all know that. Funny how we can all get excited about being that sore huh? Gotta' love it! Thanks Cathe!

That what I was thinking. Perhaps I should go buy one of those rubber donut things to sit on!!

Nan

Oh Cathe!! If I didn't love you so much, I would be running as fast I could in the opposite direction and far away from STS after that painful description!}(
Why do we all love for you to torture us so!?!?!

Keep the teasers coming!
Gin:)

Did somebody say Jello Legs?????

Well, I'm glad you are all looking forward to the "torture"....whaa ha ha haaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Just kidding. Good news for today. I'm able to SIT and type much more comfortably :7

Seriously, I think I have said this before but the leg workouts in EVERY mesocycle are big winners. You don't leave any workout without having jello legs for a couple of hours after. Then of course the jello converts to DOMS. And finally the DOMS converts to super firm, strong, and shapely legs.

Meso #1 is the muscle endurance phase where you just keep changing from exercise to exercise with very little rest. You'll hear me breathlessly shout out the next exercise (cause I am WORKIN'....and soon you'll be too), then quickly grab what you need, and go. You don't do more than one set of the exercise....just work hard, breath heavy, rest briefly, grab new weights, and go. That's the cycle. Did somebody say Jello Legs?

Mesoccyle #2 is your hypertophy phase and thats the one I described to you yesterday with the trisets. The trisets are used to recruit maximum muscle fibers by stacking up three exercises for a full set before resting. I already shared my experience with that (please don't make me relive it, ha) to convince you that you'll end the workout with the now quickly becoming believeable expression....Did somebody say Jello Legs?????

Mesocycle #3 is all about strength. What I like best about this mesocycle is its versatility. For those who like to build strength in in the way that is completely true to periodization (heavy lifting with straight forward sets using traditional and basic leg exercises) will do the squat routine. For those who do not have a squat rack but would like to stay with the more traditional approach, you will do the program that uses the weight vest doing the same exact exercises, minus the squat rack. For those who don't like to do heavy strength training but enjoy a great leg workout that inspires strength by drawing on fast twitch muscle fibers, you will do the plyo leg workout. This is a plyometric based workout that utilizes controlled jumping power bursts alternated with traditional weighted leg exercises. It is a perfect option to continue shocking the muscle in a new way yet still inspiring strength gains. Ok, now what's the famous question after this workout...you got it....Did somebody say Jello Legs????

Well, I hope I have convinced you that you will love to hate these workouts...LOL.

Have a great day everyone. I'm off to a graduation party. Are you doing anything fun today?

RE: Did somebody say Jello Legs?????

:7 :7 :7 :7 :7

Sounds so fascinating and versatile!!! And, might I add, exhausting!!!

One question, though...

I'm inclined to get a squat rack, but I also love variety and the plyo workout sounds so intriguing I wouldn't want to miss it... would there be any advice for the STS rotation on how we can incorporate both the heavy strength training (squat rack and/or vest) and the plyo training in Meso #3? Maybe alternate them based on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule or something...

Chris.

RE: Did somebody say Jello Legs?????

I can't wait to get this DVDS !!!!!!! I hope you have the vest available
for this workouts.
Thanks Cathe

I can't wait-I can't wait-I can't wait!

I've been prepping my workout room and doing the Warp Speed weight workout program like crazy to try to build up the right baseline of fitness (and leanness) to attack STS with everything that I've got.

Sure hope I'm ready! (gulp) Sure hope I LIVE. This will be awesome!

Thanks so much for the teaser, Cathe!

Cheryl

RE: Did somebody say Jello Legs?????

So what is it like working out to yourself?
Do you ever want to yell nasty things at the instructor (like when she tells you to do one more set of low-ends?) LOL!;-)
