10# challenge - RESTART - WEEK of Oct 19

Shall we all try this again? Seems like we lost a few folks. I thought maybe a weekly check in would help. I'll bump it up each day so it doesn't get lost and maybe it will help us keep the discussion going.

I am dangerously close to breaking through 150 finally. Which would put me at a 6+ pound loss. I've been hovering at 151-152 for a couple of weeks now I think. I started at 156 - I'm 5"9'. I want to be somewhere between 145-150 and comfortably maintaining before Thanksgiving hits because I know things will get ugly then!

I only have 4 more weeks to get there.

My calories range from 1500-1800 per day. Going below that is extremly hard for me so my key is to keep up the exercise. I had to take a break from running but should get in 20 miles this week plus at least 2 weight sessions. In addition to that - I'm hoping to just get more general activity and walking in. Next week and the weeks following - I want to get closer to 25 miles/week.

What are your plans? Time to re-group and re-focus!

Hello all!

I'm new to this group; I missed it the 1st go-around so I'm picking it up now.

Last year when I started my weight-loss efforts, I weighed about 183. I'm now down to 169 and am 5'9" (tall girls unite, Cindi!!! Haha ;) ), would love to be 150/155 by Christmas time...so I guess technically that's more than 10 pounds but math was never my forte. I'm currently eating about 1800 calories a day and working out about 6 days a week.

I have no problem exercising, it's keeping the eating in check that's doing me in. I'll be fine all day and at night I just want to snack on sugary stuff. I know this is why it's hard for me to lose these last 14ish pounds.

Hi Cindi and Melissa :D,

I have been MIA for about a week with traveling and hubby pulled his back out pretty bad so I have I have not been on the forums.

Well I lost 4 lbs when we started this but have to say I put it all back on ...my own fault!!!! I am 132 and would love to get back in the 120 - 125 range....my jeans don't fit :( and if I can put them on I can't have them on for long. I'm 5'4.

Yesterday and today my eating is back in track although I have not had a chance to exercise because I been attending to hubby (poor guy) who is really hurting....been taking him back and forth to PT.

Cindi - way to go lady you are my inspiration!!!!! I can do it too

Melissa - Christmas is a good time frame and I'm with you!

Therese

Cindi - Nice going!!! You will reach your goal if you keep at it like you are!

Melissa - Maybe you aren't eating enough during the day, that's why most people binge at night. Make sure you are eating enough calories with each of your meals to satisfy you.

I'm getting frustrated about my weight loss. I gained a pound last week and really there was no reason for it. I've been on this 5# roller coaster since summer began. I'm about ready to just quit eating. LOL~ Yea right!

Unless I go very strict with myself like I did back in 2007, I don't think I'll lose much more. I just don't want to do that anymore. It's too hard to follow that kind of dieting, I was almost at only 80 g. of carbs a day if that. No way can I do that now. Well, I could, but I don't want too. So I either accept the weight I'm at, or keep going and try some different aproaches. It's all so very frustrating...

Hey Debbie I right there with you! I have the angel on one shoulder telling me I can do it go go go....the the devil on the other shoulder saying at 132 you look pretty good what are you killing yourself for! That why I keep gaining and lossing those 5 pds....depends on the day which voice is louder!!!:p and whether the cheesecake is in front of me or not

Yep Therese! Me too!!! I can so relate!! :p

You guys - I had that very internal argument this morning. One part saying - you are close enough, call it done and the other part saying, keep going!

I just need to stay focused on how frustrated I will be on Jan 1 if I don't give myself the wiggle room now. I don't want to start 2010 wishing I were 10 pounds lighter.

Therese, I'm sorry to hear about DH :( I hope he feels better soon!

Debbie, I've been making sure to eat enough during the day and am mixing protein & carbs w/ a little fat at each meal. I think I just need to retrain my brain to realize I don't need sugar after dinner. I'm not even hungry at that time, I just have the craving for something sweet.

Good news is I've been on STS for about 4 weeks now on the 6 1/2 month rotation and despite my binging I haven't gained any weight (knock on wood!). I just need to be more mindful of what's going into my mouth and I have faith that I'll reach my goal.

Are there any cookbooks you ladies would recommend? I'm browsing some female bodybuilder forum for clean recipes but I would love to have a book I can look through.

Hi all! Hope it's OK if I jump in on this check-in! I'll try to be consistent.

I am 5'4" and currently weigh 170 lbs. I am in some sort of weird cycle where I'm losing 5 lbs then gaining them again then losing them ... I would like to get off this rollercoaster. When I eat right, the weight just falls off. But then I get overconfident and lazy, and I eat too much of things that I shouldn't. Two weeks ago I got to 165 ... now I'm back to 170.

I'm really good with my workouts - very disciplined and regular, and I do a varied program between Spinning, Cathe & other video workouts, yoga and walking.

My goal is to get back down to between 130 and 140. I was at 133 before I had my daughter 7 years ago. I figure that now that I'm 48, it may not be possible to get into the 130s again, so 140 would be fine.

But I need to start with that first 10!!

Hi Everyone!

Happy to see a thread! I'm new to the check-in - joined last week or so.
Checking in from work - so not much time.
My eating has been a little out of control - ttom is approaching. I feel bloated and just plain yucky!

My main problem is eating after dinner even if i'm not hungry. Anyone have any tips?

Better get back to work.

Let's do this! :D

Something to help motivate us!!! :p and get the devil off the shoulder and start listening to that angel instead!!! Right Debbie ;)

When this check-in originally started, I was scheduled to leave on vacation for 12 days. And I didn't want to start and then disappear for that long. I guess there's no excuses now!

Annie

Okay, I disappeared for a while because, quite frankly, I was doing awful and too embarrassed to post. But as the cold weather comes and each pair of pants does not fit at all, this can not continue. It makes me sad to think all the pants use to be loose on me.:(

Okay, but now for the good part. My eats have been spot on today and I am hoping to string a bunch of these days together and see some progress. :D

Therese - Sorry about DH. Thanks for the motivational picture!

Debbie - Sorry to hear your stuck AGAIN!

Welcome to all who are just joining us! Sorry I can't do personals to everyone, but it is getting late and it is time for me to leave work!

Hi ladies,

Hope you don't mind me joining again. I did really great with the first challenge. I lost over 8 pounds. I think stress played a big role with my weight loss. :p I am so close to my goal weight. My eating hasn't been great for the last 2 days, I still keep up with all my workouts. I know we can do this;)

Today I did the TreadClimber, traveled 3.25 miles. My cal. burn was 660 cal. I need that that cal. burn after the crap I ate last night.

I hurt my back a few weeks ago, I can’t so do any heavy lifting. I did ME yesterday, I think I only burned 269 cal, what is up with that? I had PT yesterday as well. It’s very helpful, he is working with me on my core/back. The exercises he has me doing, is to take the stress of my back. I will have another PT this afternoon. Starting next week I will have PT twice a week, which is fine with me. My plan is to do 3 Full body and 3 cardio workouts a week. Hope this will keep my weight down.

Belinda, how is the tread climber? I was thinking of getting one but I've heard mixed reviews. Your plan sounds like a good one!!

I did STS last night and a core segment from Jackie Warner's DVD for a total of 75 min. I ate very well...until I woke up at 11:30 and munched on some Oreos!! UGH, I get so frustrated when I do this. I don't know why I wake up and feel the need to stuff my face with junk. I'm not hungry at all. I don't know if I'm anxious about the next day or what my problem is but I want it to stop!!! Any ideas?

Tonight I plan on doing IMAX 2 (attempting 2 risers, let's see how this goes haha), then grabbing coffee with my friend at D&D. Thank God it's law in my county now to post nutritionals at chains because I won't be tempted to grab a donut when I see the big fat 300 cals next to it!!

Hi everyone! I'm glad to see some activity again. :)

Holding steady today. Ran 3 miles yesterday and wanted to do weights, but kids needed homework help.

Morning Ladies,

Well since we are starting again I weight myself this morning 132! So hopefully down from here. I hope to get back to exercising because it has been over a week without doing anything. Even if I just get in a half hour today I will feel accomplished. Have not been able to do morning because helping hubby since he really can't do much with his back out. Told him when he 100% he is going to work out with me so that he does not get back in this position. Been better with my eating but not where it needs to be. Need to tighten that up.

Welcome back Linda!!! and everyone who is just joining us ;)

Here is to getting it done! :D

Therese

Hi everyone!

I had some sort of computer glitch and was unable to post on this forum for about a week and a half. This morning I updated to Internet Explorer 8 and now I'm able to post again. Yahoo!!

I'm definitely back on track eating-wise, and my workouts are on track and focused now, so I plan to start losing weight at any moment...:) I recently discovered Turbo Jam (thanks Cindi), and I also found Hip Hop Abs at Half Price Books, and I'm doing them along with Cathe's October rotation, and I'm having fun!

I haven't had a chance to really read what all of you are up to, so I apologize, but now that I'm able to post again, I'll keep up with you all. I'm just so glad to be back, and glad we're all in this together, again!!!

Good luck ladies! We can do it...

Belinda - Nice to see that you are back to lifting some weights! You are getting great calorie burns on the Treadclimber.

Melissa - Good Luck on IMAX 2 with 2 risers. Sorry but I don't have any great advice about the late night snacking.

Therese - Hope you time for your workout today.

Denise - So you really like Turbo Jam? What's it like?

Eating went great yesterday and I have to say it was great to wake up today and not feel like I had to punish myself with really intensity cardio to pay for the previous day's binge.:D

Eating today is going well, except for 4 of my DD's Teddy Grahams.:p This morning I did Amy's In The Ring Great NRG Premix. Workout was 52 minutes and I burned 408 calories.
