    Imax 2 vs. Imax 3 ?

I agree with what most of us are saying. Imax 3 is a bit harder, more of a spike in heartrate more often. The choreography is more difficult in the aerobic phases, but once you learn it, it's fun. The high impact doesn't bother me, but I wouldn't do it too often. Imax 2 is fun, easier to get...

Traveling and clean eating/exercising away from cathe

I'm a lot like honeybunch about this. I eat pretty normally, no one makes me eat anything I don't want and rarely is anything that tempting. I'm vegan at home, but I will eat meat or eggs on vacation or at someone's home if it's the healthiest option available. (I'm not just going to subsist on...

Working out 5 days v 6 days what is difference?

I do what Shelley does. If my legs are tired I do upper body or swim. If my upper body is tired, I run, bike or do any number of evil Cathe workouts. If I'm just plain tired, I take a day off. Sometimes by the end, I still want to take a walk or do some yoga. I guess I'm just wiggly!

    Question......no laughing!!

Rice milk, almond milk, hazelnut milk? I love "process of elimination". I've never been able to not think evil thoughts when someone says that. Also, "So what is it you do do?" I do do what everyone else do do's!! LOL

    Painful shoulder

I've been struggling with a rotator cuff injury for awhile now, and my PT told me that the moves in cardio were fine to do. I also feel a bit of discomfort at the beginning, but as it warms up, I'm fine by the end. I'm just avoiding the lateral moves, doing PT exercises, taking Aleve...

Imax Interval Blast #8 -- I'm so discouraged!

I think this is the hardest interval too. I always finish it, but I look pretty pathetic the last 16 or so. Maybe they're not quite as deep by then ;-) ;-) I know I've told this joke before, but I love it. When Hope starts to modify, I can't help but say to myself, "This is where we always...

Cycling.. does it lean or bulk up legs?

I've been riding about 100 miles a week for 6 months. Here in Chapel "Hill", it's constant rolling hills, but not mountains. My quads and hamstrings are definitely bigger, but not bulky. I think it looks great. In fact, I think my legs have never looked better. I am a pear, so leg fat is...

    Cathe is everywhere!!!

Yes, Nancy. I miss you. Logan will graduate in December. She's doing an internship this summer. I'm in school learning to be a GIS analyst, an riding my road bike a lot. I've been reading about your wonderful career advances. It made me happy!! Keep taking good care of yourself. Liane

    dry skin brushing

I do this every week or so. I don't know if it does any good, but it feels good, doesn't take much time, and I don't see what harm it can do. It must at least help brush off dry skin cells.

    Cathe is everywhere!!!

I was on campus at UNC Chapel Hill today, and they were doing some construction/renovations on the Biology building. There were chain-link fences around it, with banners hanging that said, "LOMAX CONSTRUCTION" I falsely assumed this meant all the workers would be trim and fit, but maybe...

How do I pick out an outdoor bicycle?

Just to belabor the point, go to a bike shop, tell them what you need, answer their questions as best you can about what you plan to use the bike for, and plan to spend around $1K on the bike, the helmet, lock, and whatever gizmos you like. I love a $25 computer that tells me how fast I'm going...

    IMAX and nostalgia

I think the majority of us think Imax2 is a bit easier than IMax. But you can certainly put more oomph in the intervals when you know the steps better. It's certainly a worthwhile workout. As I recall, most of us when polled also thought IMax3 was the toughest one of all. I know I do!

Questions on walking as part of a fitness plan

I think you should plan to spend a thousand dollars or more. Just get yourself a nice bike you can use for awhile. My bike cost about 1200 and it's about a Honda Accord V-6 level bike, if you see what I mean. Not a POS econobox, and not a Porsche either. The most important thing is fit. Make...

Questions on walking as part of a fitness plan

Oh, I meant to add that I do walk a lot on campus, to campus, from campus, and whenever it's possible to walk for an errand or instead of driving. It makes a huge difference, but it's not a workout. It's just "activity".

    OMG I'm So Embarrassed!!

I love it, Annette. And the DH thing was very funny too. So funny how our online persona sneaks in.

    Anybody gardening this year?

I'm jealous. I live in a condo with a postage stamp yard that only gets shade. I grow sprouts in the window and go to the farmer's market. I hope some day I can have a garden again, with ducks to eat the bugs, lay eggs, and be adorable.

For all you "older" college students....help me

RE: For all you Well, I do understand your fears, but like everyone else has said, it's definitely doable and I think you should go for it. I went back to school full time last January and just finished my first semester YESTERDAY. Yay me!! I'll be 49 in the summer and got a masters...

Questions on walking as part of a fitness plan

I have mostly replaced running with road-biking. It takes longer, but has really helped me cardiovascularly, my knees are no longer achy, and I've lost a couple of pounds (I'm 130 and 5'8" so any weight I lose is rather challenging at this point). I don't feel that walking is quite enough of...

    High Intensity Workouts

I think especially if you do the Cardio only premixes, like in Imax2, where you do the blast, then the recovery for each interval, but you skip the normal aerobic step portion. This way you get a shorter more intense workout. I'm not sure if Imax3 has a premix like that, I've been doing just...
