dry skin brushing

Another member on the Ask Cathe forum mentioned dry skin brushing, a technique of massaging your skin with a brush before showering, to encourage the lymph system to rid the body of toxins.

I started doing this about two weeks ago and was wondering if anyone else has tried this.

I'm now fending off a cold. Could the two be linked possibly, or am I just a victim of not being around my germ-laden little students for four months - haha!

I tried this once for about a week, but I didn't care for it. My skin can withstand a lot of things, but it felt kind of harsh, even with soft bristles.

I think it's a good idea, since the skin is the largest (surface area) organ of elimination in our body.

As for the cold and the brushing being linked, if the brushing is helping you detox, then the 'cold' cold be a detox reaction.

I have a good skin brush, but I haven"t used it much. Maybe I'll get it out and start using it.

I do this every week or so. I don't know if it does any good, but it feels good, doesn't take much time, and I don't see what harm it can do. It must at least help brush off dry skin cells.
