Great job! I can't wait to see your pictures!

Which burns more calories weight training or cardio?

Sounds like a good plan. As others have said, some have success with this approach, others don't. The only way to find out if it works for you is to try it. I had terrific results with 2 months of Pure Strength with shorter cardio. I lost at least an inch around the rib cage and about three...

Step Kickbox (you haven't done one of these yet)

Adding my request for Step Kickbox. A long tape of this would be so much fun!

    giving blood

Deborah- I'm another one who's ineligible (grew up in Europe). I think there are more of us than they think they are. When I was allowed to give blood, it usually took two full days before I could work out again and three before I could work out at full steam. But that might just be me.

    long hair

Hey, hotchick, I've actually seen something almost like that for sale. They're made out of spandex and you're supposed to be able to put the length of a ponytail in them. I never even thought about using one for working out! I'll can imagine those extensions are heavy.

    long hair

Do you do a low braid starting at the neck? If I try to ponytail, then braid my hip-length hair, it is way too heavy and uncomfortable. My low braid doesn't bounce very much and I barely feel it. A French braid might redistribute the weight of the braid. You could also do two French...

Ever pull out one of Cathe's older cardios......

I did this with the wedding tape. Woo! I could sure feel it!

    Which new DVD?

I'm considering buying a new Cathe DVD, but I can only afford one. I'd like to get one of the new Intensities or the Terminator, but I can't decide which one. My goals are to lose a significant amount of weight (at least 35 pounds by September, then more) and to get definition in my arms and...

My Visit With the Nutrition Consultant

Thank you for this terrific post! I really have to get my eating under control-- I've cut out sweets and fast food, but I'm still eating way too much processed food. Now I have the dreaded school reunion coming up in five months and would like to lose 35 pounds (which would put me at the high...

    Roller Blading

Me! I love it! I love anything that involves strapping wheels or sticks to my feet and going fast. I have a pair of K-2 Camanos, and I think for adults, it's important to get a good pair of skates. I look like a total dork- I'm clumsy and injury prone, plus I don't think I've skated hard...

Any other military wives out there?

When I was an Air Force wife, I would lose weight every time my husband was deployed. (I don't eat as much when he's not around.) I definitely used my tapes to get me through the deployments. It's a great, constructive thing to do, and it really helps get your mind off missing him.

    What happened to your fat?

Maybe that explains why my sticky-outy belly has suddenly fallen and is much looser. Oooh, I hope this is true that the fat is ready to melt away!

How often do you increase your weights in the ps series?

My first weight increase was at 3 weeks, because I apparently started too light. It's three weeks later and I think it'll be another three to four weeks before I can increase again. This is my first PS rotation. You could test a very slight (2-3 pound increase on the barbell) to see if...

Most dreaded body part to work...

Abs-- and they need it the most I dread doing ab work... even though I'm starting to see results from my Cathe/ Pilates work, I still dread doing them. I either want to fall asleep or get really hungry when I do ab work. I like working both my upper body and lower body, though, although I...

    I earned my Intensity Series!

Awesome! IS is my reward for reaching 150... which probably won't happen for months and months. Great job!

    Worst Foods are...

Sometimes the milk advice seems to be more political than nutritional. I limit my milk because of a slight lactose intolerance, but I will never give it up.

    Gloves for Weight Training?

I have a pair of Saranac gloves that I bought years ago and they are still holding up very well. (They're black and magenta- hello early 90s!) The velcro isn't sewn in right on one glove, so it hurts when I close the strap, so I just leave them open. I'm really happy with them (other than the...

Oh No!! The Girl Scout cookies are here!

The silly girls at my (Catholic) church didn't even start selling them until last SUNDAY! So we bought three boxes... two to demolish before Ash Wednesday and one to put in the freezer until Easter. I guess I'm glad they waited until the weekend before Lent started to sell the cookies, because...

    Clean Eating Rotation

Wow- that's intense! I bet if someone were a little less motivated and a little more resistant, this could be spread out over a year. I've been doing a modified version of this for a while now. I've conquered the water, the sugar, and the slow-cooked oatmeal for breakfast but I'm balking...

    PS/ Cardio Rotation

Good question... one I have thought of. Running has been one of the few exercises that has actually taken fat off of me. I have had phases where I speed-walked, where I'd gotten pretty fast (actually faster than I run now), and had seen no physical changes until I started running. Running also...
