Gloves for Weight Training?

tetons

Cathlete
Hi all-

Just wondered if anyone has a recommendation on gloves they use for weight training? I just use some cheapie ones from Target and they seem ok, however the little bit of padding is usually flattened out in about a week or so. What do I expect for $5? Anyway, without spending a fortune, are there any gloves that you have really liked and that you thought made a difference?

Thanks,
Nancy

Hi Nancy,
I have a pair of Harbinger gloves that I really like. They are my first pair so I can't compare them to others, but the suede padding on the palms has held up well and I've been using them for about a year now. I think I paid around $8 for them at ####'s Sporting Goods.

By the way that's D*ck's Sporting Goods, I find it annoying that the board won't even let you type the word D*ck... it's not like I'm trying to be a pervert...

Liz - I agree w/your recommendation. I have several pairs of Harbinger gloves and I like that you can wash them. By the way, I had to chuckle by your discovery that you can't type ####. What if you're a guy and your name is ####? haha. suzanne

And every now and then they'll go on sale and that's a great time to get a couple of pairs. :)

I love my Harinbinger gloves. I bought them at a ####'s store. ####'s does make quite alot of different gloves. The ones I got came in an XS which just made the purchase even more sweet more my wee little hands.

I have a pair of Saranac gloves that I bought years ago and they are still holding up very well. (They're black and magenta- hello early 90s!) The velcro isn't sewn in right on one glove, so it hurts when I close the strap, so I just leave them open. I'm really happy with them (other than the velcro problem) and I recommend buying the best ones you can.

LOL! You guys are cracking me up... Hmm.. will it let me type the word penis? What about ####?

####?! Hey how come I can type the P word but I can't type ####?!

A G-rated forum indeed! :D

Sorry for straying off the subject...

liz,

Hey Liz, maybe you can type "p*ni@" but not #### because the former is more of a medical word? that latter can be someone's name, though, and isn't necessarily a smutty word. In fact, I can remember my mom wearing ####ies in the late 60s (those fake turtleneck things). I have to admit that I'm glad there is some profanity control on this forum. Hearing swear words all the time on TV, at work, etc. makes them more a part of normal speech. I dread the day when the eff and the cee words pass the primetime sensors! suzanne

RE: liz,

Yes, I can understand that they don't want nasty words to be plastered all over the place, I can appreciate that - nothing wrong with a lack of profanity by any means. In fact, it's one of the things I like about this forum - people here are generally considerate and tend not to use that lanuage anyway.

And while I do find much humor in this thread, there is still part of me that is annoyed that I can't use the word #### as it as it was intended to be used just because it's slang for something else. It's slang, not profanity!

Ah well! I guess I'll have to start shopping at ####'s instead of D*cks. ;-)
