    E Book Readers

Another Kindle 2 lover here. I picked the Kindle because Amazon is a great supplier and as mentioned before - every book every written will be out in Kindle format before long. Amazon will make sure of it. I also picked it because I can make notes, etc. I can read it in direct sunlight...

    Attn: Catherine (Fit Fairy)

I'm totally freaking offended that no one PM'd me, that I didn't get a call out threads, and that no one let me know about these threads. Hmmmphhh... But I do adore Cat...

    German Shepherd Owners Advice Please

I love all of the herding dogs. They are very much people dogs and want to be around their family. They are protective, but just work with him intro'ing him to as many people as possible. You can have them give treats so he learns that people are good. Tripods are great dogs, however, you...

    Summer trip - Yosemite/Lake Tahoe

If you go during the week and not on the weekends, it's usually not that difficult to get a site. Are you looking at a place like Curry Village or one of the hotels? Weekends get tough, but I've often made reservations a few days before going. And if you're going early June - it's before the...

Stop teaching kids to write in cursive?

I disagree. Penmanship is important. My daughter struggled with writing both printing and cursive. I think the challenges she faced with the actual mechanics of writing, and the points off she received for her sloppy hand writing, made her slow down and become a better writer over all. I...

Oh, The Weather Outside Is Frightful

Sending safe and warm wishes to my Cathe friends on the East Coast. I guess it would be mean to tell those who are not enjoying the snow that I took a 5 mile hike in the mountains with my dog, then sat outside a little coffee shop in the small town of Saratoga and watched cyclists ride by...

How do you plan to use STS Cardio?

I plan to mix Shock Cardio, a P90X halvsies rotation and Insanity. I'll never be bored. :D Oh yeah - and on the weekends I'll continue to hike and run.

Sick Dog - Any Advice Would Be Appreciated

Jimmy does horrible on Fresh Pet Select - I guess all dogs are different. I do agree that it's decent food, though. He does best on Wellness/Solid Gold or a brand like that. Premium pet supply stores sell in. My favorite is Orijin, but it's hard to find. Switching food abruptly is a common...

Montessori schools....what can you tell me?

Suzanne - why don't you talk to the Montessori schools directly. From what I'm reading about your DD, she may actually benefit from the style of teaching of a Montessori school. Many school offer up to grade 6 for Montessori. My experience with 2 very good Montessori schools was that yes...

    Insanity, anyone? Help!

I'm late to the Insanity party, but I'll echo what has been said. I'm not doing the rotation as is. I run, hike and bike, so I really can't, but during the week when it's really dark at 5:30AM Insanity works me like nothing else. Nothing. I honestly do not expect Cathe's Shock Cardio system...

    Press Play results

I did CCPP on the elliptical at the gym on Friday. My gym is in an outdoor mall (fancy schmancy place) so I got to watch all of the Black Friday shoppers. Fun times. I enjoyed it, and finished with a 7 mile ride on the VR bike instead of another challenge. Today I took my poor neglected...

How do you clean sneaker mesh?

I guess I'm kind of funny, because my running shoes are filthy and I have no intention of cleaning them. I trail run with them as well as street run, so they are constantly picking up dirt. I will hose them off to get off most of the dirt, but hey, I think dirty running shoes are a badge of...

I have All Clad, and they are sitting in the closet while I cook everything with my Circulon pans. Those I love.

What is Your Favorite Exercise? And Least Favorite?

I call that stair climber "The Stairway to H*ll", because I keep thinking that if I ever end up in the hot place (and the jury is out on that one!), that will be my punishment - climbing an endless flight of stairs until I cannot take any more, then being forced to climb more.

I've read the first four. I cannot make myself read the fifth. I'm about 100 pages in. I loved the first four books. I find them fascinating, and I am mighty partial to redheads.

What is Your Favorite Exercise? And Least Favorite?

Cute thread! Loves: Running cycling Hiking/trail running Tuck jumps - now that I can do them right and get some height - what a feeling! Hates: Tricep dips - I'm with Shelley when she once said, every time I hear an instructor say time for dips, I keep hoping she/he pulls out chips Any...

    Running with DOMS

My concern with running with bad DOMS (if I have light DOMS, I don't worry) is that I will end up altering my stride slightly to compensate for the pain, and end up injuring myself. I will workout, but as running is so physically demanding, I'm not willing to take the risk. I also know which...

    This makes me sick...

This actually happened fairly near me (about 40 minutes away by car) in a section of the Bay Area I would not walk through even if I had 5 body guards armed with AK47's and mean dobermans. It's that bad. This article is not the latest I've seen. The school district's reaction is much less...
