Glad you like it. Many people do. I tried, I really did, but it just didn't happen for me. It was ok, but I had no desire to read the rest of the series. Something about him just irked the heck out of me. She should've just slugged him in the nose, gone back to her own time, and be done with it. I think he just wasn't my type of romantic hero. Decent book, but no desire to read the follow ups

Sherry, welcome to the club! You have officially been "hosed"-that's what the Ladies of Lallybroch call it when someone becomes obsessed with the works of Diana Gabaldon:) I'm on the 7th book right now-An Echo in the Bone and yes, it does get in the way of being productive. Ah, well. Productivity isn't all that!;) Enjoy!

Nan the first time I tried to read the Outlander I had much the same reaction as you did. I actually read part of it and then put it down and didn't pick it up again for a few years. That time I did get through it and I've enjoyed the remaining books FAR more. I just finished Echo in the Bone a couple weeks ago and now I'll spend the next few years dangling off all those cliffs she left hanging this time! Is it just me or were there many more cliffhangers in this book than in the rest.

I *can* read a Gabaldon in a day or two, but dragged out Echo in the Bone for almost 3 weeks since we have to wait another 2-3 years for the next! :( I absolutely agree, the cliffhangers were excessive....she better write fast!!! :p

I am reading Drums of Autumn right now. Be careful, Diana Gabaldon will entice you to neglect your family! Ha ha!

If you haven't listened to the audio versions, I listened to the last book...hmm.. Snow and Ashes??? and it was excellently read. With accents and the names actually pronounced correctly instead of what I come up with in my head. ;) I'm going to start back with the second book and get all the audio versions. I read the latest one, because the library didn't have their audio copy yet and they only got one copy compared to a dozen or more of the book, but I found I got a lot more detail out of listening than reading.

I've got The Fiery Cross right now (it's overdue actually ). I'm another one that had Outlander sitting around for ages and didn't touch it but, boy, when I finally did pick it up.......I loved it!

I like the idea of listening to it. I'd love to hear all the accents. I'll have to see if my library has the audio for these.

And yes, I find myself blowing off my ever-lengthening To Do list to sneak in some pages!

I've read the first four. I cannot make myself read the fifth. I'm about 100 pages in. I loved the first four books. I find them fascinating, and I am mighty partial to redheads.
