Anybody else feel "bulkier" when doing weights?

RE: Anybody else feel I am not a big fan of weights. I don't know that I am bulky but I struggle with trying to stay lean (prob something to do with being 50+!!). I like the endurance weights like ME, or the shorter circuit weights that are combined with cardio (cardio/weights, step/pump/jump)...

Arthroscopic knee surgery - How long 'till back to norm...

Hey, I had this done about 10 years ago - no residual pain or problems after about six months. Regaining and maintaining quad strength was a must for me (just leg lifts while on back at first). Yes, like the others I would say go slow. There will be some pain and swelling. Take whatever was...

    stiff joints

Hey there, For what it's worth, a trip to the doctor my get you back faster than you think without invasive procedures. Don't mind me, I'm married to an orthopaedic surgeon who treats a lot of my athletic friends. He often uses every alternative possible to get atheletes back to 'work.' (ie...

    Anyone from the UK?

Hi! I am from the UK but live in the States. Actually, I've spent most of my life here. My parents and sister do live in England and we visit nearly every year. They live east of London (about 2 hours) in the general vicinity of Cambridge. Love it! Especially the small village life. Scotland is...

so, how many still have great personal girlfriends after age 50?

RE: so, how many still have great personal girlfriends ... Hi there! Well, I am about to turn 50 this year, and this is a very sensitive subject. We moved constantly during our 20's, 30's and early 40's (this is my eleventh house, fifth state). This is torture on friendships. That said, I still...

OT/ Just got back from 9 days Grand Teton/Yellowstone/Glacier

Thanks for the info! We had wanted to go to Maine this year, but kid schedules didn't work. We are going to Pisgah National Forest (near Asheville) for some good hiking. Staying in a hotel but we have also camped. The kids and DH have white water rafted in Colorado - I haven't, is it scary?

OT/ Just got back from 9 days Grand Teton/Yellowstone/Glacier

Can I ask a question? How did you plan for this trip? How did you know/decide where to go? I am originally from the west (CA) and have spent time in Colorado, just not in WY/MT. Sounds like my kind of trip. Hiking is my #1 passion!

What Do You Do For A Living?

Mom to five, wife for almost 26 years!! Those are two full time jobs in themselves ;-). I stayed at home for 16 years, then I went back to school when my youngest started kindergarten. I have worked as a school counselor now for five years (two at middle school, three at high school). I've...

    Is CTX good?

IMHO this set stands the test of time. It is the all-around best, total body workout in the least amount of time. In fairness, I have not used Timesaver as much, so that may grow on me. I work during the school year and have found that on tough weeks, this is the workout series I reach for. That...

    Push Pull and Supersets

Hi Susan... I love these two workouts. They are so efficient at giving an overall workout in a reasonable amount of time. They are hard, but I can finish them. Glad you like them too.

    Step Blast-finally......got the fast repeater!

When the HARDCORE series is released, how would you like the workouts to be packaged?

RE: I don't know if you missed it but... I agree! We easily get spoiled thinking we have a say in how SNM does business. We own our own business and it is the toughest job out there (aside from being a mom!). The SNM product is outstanding, the expert (Cathe) amazing. I'll take it however they...

    Long & Lean

Let's hear for us tall girls! Hi folks, This is such a great thread. I rarely post because I feel like everyone must be petite and muscular. I am not as lean as I want, but I have a lot of trouble getting any muscle definition. I am 5'9" and weigh about 150-155 (I rarely weigh myself, just...

    CTX series or TimeSaver DVD??

Hello! I have had CTX since they came out - they are great! I also have the Timesaver DVD, but have just run through the whole thing once. I love CTX because they were all designed as shorter workouts. Timesaver uses pieces from several parts of the Intensity Series plus some bonuses. Both...

    Timesaver Dvd

CTX is still my favorite because it was designed as shorter workouts, yet Timesaver offers a great variety if you have the rest of the series. The bonus sections are great as well. So, yeah, a good alternative to CTX. I have also liked the pre-mixes and mix and match features which allow you to...

    Imax2 anaerobic?

My 2 cents: My understanding is that IMAX 1 & 2 are for 'pushing the envelope' to increase your aerobic thershold. So, this workout is supposed to be done just once or twice a week. Yes, you are anaerobic for part of it, but that is the point. Your overall fitness will increase. As far as fat...
