Anyone from the UK?

Hi! I am just wondering if anyone here is from the UK. My husband and I desperately want to move there next year. We love it, went in 1999 for a few months and was blown away! I'd love to meet some people there and where they are from. We'd like to go to Scotland, but love England, Wales and Ireland too. If you live there, you are so lucky. We might go as working travelers. I'm going to school to do aesthetician and massage. I'm sure there is work there for that. I am just curious, where do you live and what do you do? Any suggestions etc. THanks, Cookie

Hi! I am from the UK but live in the States. Actually, I've spent most of my life here. My parents and sister do live in England and we visit nearly every year. They live east of London (about 2 hours) in the general vicinity of Cambridge. Love it! Especially the small village life. Scotland is beautiful, I've never seen Ireland. I have cousins in western England and that is nice as well. Hard choices...

My only input to you is to carefully research your work opportunities. When my sister moved there, getting a work visa was tough. Even though we had relatives there and she was born there, she was considered an American.

All the best in your adventures.

Hi:

I echo Joanna's thoughts. You will need to research carefully the paperwork involved in getting permission to live and work in the UK. It's not just a case of waltzing in! Think also about whether your credentials, if obtained in the US, will be acceptable in the UK by any health authorities. I know that doctors and teachers from the UK have to pass diffferent exams to be able to work out here in the US.

Just some thoughts.

I'm from the UK, but currently live in Michigan, US.

Good luck,

Clare
