Tall People -- Are You Good at Push-Ups?

And I agree. I can do loads on my knees, but not a single one on my toes. Ity doesn't matter how heavy I can lift for chest. Push ups are another category altogether and I do think that height, plus body type (Cathe's mesomorph versus my ectomorph), make a difference. Clare

Tall People -- Are You Good at Push-Ups?

"It can be done, because tall guys do them all the time" We really cannot make this comparison with men here. They have superior upper body muscle mass and strength. I would expect them to have an easier time of it with push-ups. Clare

Any Jane Austen Fans out there?

I may not see the film because to my mind the BBC adptation with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth IS Pride & Prejudice and it cannot be bettered. A film cannot possibly develop all the characters and include all the incidents that make up the historical period. I do not want to be disappointed...

Slow &Heavy Upper vs Gym Style Biceps,Shoulders..

I am in total agreement with Mariela. Nothing helped me gain strength and significant visible muscle definition and growth like the S&H series. And yes, I keep at it for longer than 3 weeks. If you are a hard gainer, this is the perfect series for you. GS series is my next favourite and I...

    GS Legs

LL and GS legs are my fave leg workouts and a good two to alternate. LL will give your legs increased explosive power for cardio. The GS legs is especially thorough. Excellent floor work. Clare

Starting back after about 5 months off

Sue: I'm in the same boat as you. What I plan to do is take it day by day. Trying to go straight back to a 5 or 6 day exercise week may be my ambition, but past experience has shown me that I cannot predict how sore or tired I will feel. Probably 4 sessions is a great start for the first...

Starting back after about 5 months off

"I'm not sure of all the circumstances of why you haven't worked out for 5 months, but try really hard to not let that happen again. As you can see, it's easy to get off track, but very hard to get back on track again." I don't think that "telling off" is the right response to someone who has...

Oprah's bra and jean show this week

I agree. Both the blonde's and Oprah's jeans need to come up an inch or two. Dragging them along the floor is not hip. Plus with less material dragging, we can see a nice amount of heel, and that just looks more stylish. The drainpipes on the other woman?!?!?!?!? What was she...

Love my Gap Fit n' Flares and the Gap Long & Lean cut. Both are low rise, but not ultra LR. Also like Paper Cloth & Denim for excellent fit. Clare

Slow & Heavy bicep curls barbell vs. dumbbell

It works the muscles differently. I find that I am pretty wiped with 3 sets of curls and hammer curls with my 15's. But I can keep going with a 30 pound barbell, then a 25 pound barbell at the end, whereas I could not keep producing solid reps continuing with dumbells. The barbell also...

Janet Jackson has ruined my wardrobe.

I don't really understand this. jcrew.com and especially gap.com are stuffed full of low rise jeans. I personally do not think the low rise jean will ever fade because women feel so much more comfortable in them and because a whole generation of women has grown up with them and simply...

    Portion control

Nancy: 2 facts: 1. it takes the body 20 minutes to register feeling full. You need to slow down your meal to give your body time to register this. Then you get up and walk away from the table. 2. a load of veggies and rice will not keep you as full and satisfied as a serving of lean...

    Article About Comfort Foods

Doesan't make sense to me. If men pick these choices when they are in positive moods, why on earth do they qualify as "comfort foods"? Also, when did steak qualify as a comfort food? I thought it was soups and pasta things to keep warm in cold temps? The article is confusing two different...

This is scary..strip search at McDonalds

Dyna Band question for Gym Styles

Yes you can use tubing. I use mine for the T back rows in the back section. Somehow I find it easier to actually accomplish this move and target the correct muscles with the handles and everything. And, for some exercises, like the triceps work, you will need to hold the tubing at some place...

    Any suggestions, moms?

You might ask some of them to get gifts that will suit Joey when he is 2 and when he is 3, and then you store tham away, maybe at your Mum's house?, until he is ready for them. Otherwise, you ask them for book gift tokens and you buy him a library of excellent books that will keep him...
