    Best Certifcation

I'm still studying for the ACE exam, but I also purchased a great manual that helps specifically with taking the ACE PT exam. It's got great strategies for test taking in general, but it's written for those taking the ACE PT exam. It's a $50 item, but so far I think it's worth it -- but I...

    Tummy sag!

Same thing here. Two kids, too. I would be thrilled if there was a non-surgical solution, but I've not heard of one. Here's to hoping. :) Marla

How Should I Strengthen My Weak Bicep?

Thank you, TK. I do have one more question, regarding the method: Along with the other ideas listed, I'm wondering if I could add one more day of work for my left bicep only. So ... if I'm doing upper body on Monday and total body Friday (which of course would include upper body), could I...

How Should I Strengthen My Weak Bicep?

Hi Cathe, I've been making consistent strength gains over the past several months. I'm currently using Pyramid Upper Body on Monday, Butts & Guts on Tuesday, a total body workout on Friday, and 3 days of cardio throughout the week. I've noticed recently that my left bicep just isn't keeping...

I would love to know this, too -- I'm just starting studies for an ACE Personal Trainer certification. The owner of the gym I attend urged me to get a NASM certification instead, saying that most gyms prefer that for group instruction. My current goal, though, is to work one-on-one with...

Suggestion for creating a travel workout from 'parts'

RE: Suggestion for creating a travel workout from 'part... I know a Cathe DVD specifically targeted at travel workouts would sell. I would sure buy one. :) Until then, I just found a resistance tube that comes with a DVD workout. It's by GoFit (GoFit.net). I bought it a Dick's Sporting...

Suggestion for creating a travel workout from 'parts'

I love this idea. I don't travel all that often, but when I do I always take Cathe with me -- and dumbbells, deflated stability ball, even my step if I can. I would love a workout specifically made for travel. There certainly is a lot you can do with tubes & resistance bands. Cathe -- Can...

    Cathe -- Measuring Bodyfat

Trish, Thanks for that info. My scale said my bodyfat is 24.8%, but my personal trainer said it's 16%. What I'm thinking is that with calipers you measure three places (triceps, abdominal area, & thigh). I'm wondering if the scale is picking up the bodyfat in the breast area and calculating...

    Bodyfat & Measuring

I recently purchased a Tanita Body Composition scale -- the Elite Series. I'm pretty sure I'm going to take it back because I spoke with a personal trainer today who said they're not very accurate. She said when she measures her bodyfat with calipers the result is 14%, while the bodyfat scale...

    Cathe -- Measuring Bodyfat

Hi Cathe, I'm torn (like an old sweater) between how best to measure bodyfat. Is it most accurate using calipers? I really would like to know the best, most accurate, method -- calipers or bodyfat scale? Thanks a bunch! :D Marla

    Muscle Max band question

I agree. Variety is good. Plus, for me, the band hits my muscles in a very different way -- probably because my muscles are so used to dumbbells. The burn with the band is tremendous! Muscle Max is a fantastic workout. I really love it. :) Marla

    Muscle Max band question

Hi -- I've been doing Muscle Max twice a week recently and I do not wrap my resistance band -- I'm 5'6". Cathe & crew are 3 or 4 inches shorter than me I think (met them on the '05 Road Trip). If I wrapped my band like Cathe I'm pretty sure I'd reach failure before I got those last 15 pulses...

    My Replacements are Here!!!

Hi Jennifer, We lived in Brighton before we moved here. It's only 10 minutes down the road. I have skied once. :) I would do it again, but I'd probably be on the bunny hill. :7 It would be fun for all us "Cathe-Ganders" to get together. Hope you had a great Christmas. Marla

    equipment

I have the same set, also purchased through Walmart online for the same price. I love this set. Mine came with (2) 5# plates and (2) 10# plates, but I already had 2.5# plates. It's a great set. :) Marla

Hi Christi -- I got mine, too. I was surprised! I didn't know they'd shipped. Hope you're doing great. (Still in Michigan?) Marla (in MI)

    Drill Max problems

Ouch. That's a tough one. Was it still sealed when you bought it? You need to contact the seller immediately and get a refund. If the seller is legitimate that shouldn't be a problem (but they also would've know about the replacements, etc.). I know hindsight is 20/20, but Cathe offers...

    About Cathe & Crew

Hi Jamie -- If you go to Video & DVD Rotations (under the forums) you'll find what you're looking for. I know Cathe has some good rotations for fat loss/muscle definition, which usually add more cardio and the weight training is usually higher reps and moderate weights (rather than Slow & Heavy...

Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle

Hi Traci, I have BFFM too, and agree it's a great book. So is "Fit Over 40," also with Tom Venuto. About carbs -- please don't eliminate them completely. You really need the proper amount of healthy, high-complex carbohydrates from the right sources -- especially because you workout a lot...
