    Cathe Step workouts

I’ve rarely done Drill Max from start to finish but, as I recall, it only utilizes the step for stepping in a few drills. Not to say it’s not a great workout, it just doesn’t have a lot of step drills. I prefer step so I usually only do DM segments when I’m doing Cardio Fusion, and then I end up...

    Step Shox: Worth It?

I've been using these for months. I haven't felt a noticeable difference in impact on my joints but they make my step(ping) quieter. (The banging/thumping of plastic against plastic is definitely reduced during step routines.) Making my stepping quieter is worth $10 in and of itself. I feel less...

    Cathe Step workouts

Most of the step combos in Imax 2 have pretty basic choreography. I started with Imax 2 after mastering basic step/body fusion. It's still the most used cathe dvd in my collection.

    Sweaty hands!!!

A few years ago, I was in a fitness class that involved some basic yoga stretches but I kept slipping on the mats provided due to sweaty hands/feet during down dog. I finally ended up buying a Natural Fitness natural rubber yoga mat on amazon and it solved my slippage problem entirely...

How often to get new shoes????

I've found that Superfeet Berry insoles seem to extend the life of my gym shoes, and make them more supportive in general. However, they cost almost as much as buying a new pair of shoes.

Step Risers - Graduating to 8"

When I feel a 6” step is no longer as challenging for a certain workout, I try using 8” for as long as possible in the workout, moving back down to 6” like you did when it becomes too much. It’s a very gradual process. Sometimes I can only make it through the warm-up at 6", but eventually I...

View Pictures of the Low Impact Series

I believe they are Ryka Transitions. I did a yahoo shopping search and found out that the Ryka site, DSW, and maybe one other place currently carry that particular purple/black color combo. I ordered a pair from DSW.com last night. Normally I only order shoes from Zappos, but they don't...

    Favorite Water Bottle

I use a stainless steel klean kanteen, but I also have a couple of nalgene bottles. This may sound silly, but I highly recommend getting a tote/cover thing to carry your water bottle around in. It protects stainless steel from getting dented when you drop your bottle on the floor and also...

    Sunscreen Recommendation

Vanicream Sport SPF 35 is by far the least skin-irritating sunscreen that I have ever used. It has no scent and won't make your eyes sting when you sweat. Since it's zinc-based, it does take a little longer to rub in than other sunscreens.

    exercise bands?

It looks like you already bought a replacement band, but I believe it was a green dynaband they used in the gym style workouts, butts & guts, etc. I recently bought a replacement for mine on amazon.

    Protein Powder??

I use Genisoy soy protein powder in fruit smoothies I make myself (though I haven't made any protein smoothies lately). However, some people are very anti-soy. Also, you have to have some sort of drink or food you can mix it in as it's just plain protein powder. But at least with plain...

    Need new shoes...help!

I wear Ryka Studio Flex Lows for all of Cathe's step/cardio routines. I find they have enough cushion and lateral support, lots of toe room, and they breathe fairly well. (However, everyone's feet are different.) I go barefoot for almost all weight work because it's just more comfortable...

Need some help with my workouts please!

Also not Cathe, but one of my first Cathe weight videos was Pyramid UB&LB and I still use it quite frequently. (Keep in mind that PUB/PLB is really two separate workouts, one for upper and one for lower body, although I believe there is a premix combo on the dvd that combines chapters from...

    Drinking Alcohol & Weight Loss

Skinnygirl margarita Technically there is a 100cal margarita product out there developed by Bethenny Frankel (per 4oz serving) and its ingredients are far better than your average margarita. (And it has made her a very rich woman.) I'm personally not a fan of margaritas (although I am a fan...

What do you eat w/ salsa, hummus, spreads, etc?

This might not be the healthiest option, but I use fat-free saltines as a substitute. They're empty calories as far as nutrition goes, but at least they're not as bad as chips and have a fairly short ingredient list. Plus, I find that fat-free saltines don't taste good enough to actually tempt...

    need advice please

I wear Ryka Studio Flex Lows for all of Cathe's step workouts. Apparently they're also popular for Zumba. Not sure if they're good for high arches as my feet are pretty average. My only complaint with the shoe is that it could breathe a little bit better, but I tend to sweat more than...
