Obesity costs $147 BILLION in 2008

Hey, I'll drive the fire truck! Says the "bad mommy" who sent out valentines without any candy attached, makes the kids walk to the bus stop in any kind of weather, and brings nothing but bottles of water (reusable sport bottles filled with tap water) to the playground because the kids aren't...

Obesity costs $147 BILLION in 2008

Yes! I think this is a guy thing, because DH gets antsy and wants to go grocery shopping if he sees an inch of empty space in the fridge or there are fewer than 5 boxes of cereal. OTOH I love seeing only a few, quality items in the fridge. It's like "less is more" :) And I can remember...

Obesity costs $147 BILLION in 2008

My 2 cents worth, to add to everyone else's :): there needs to be a cultural shift to get food out of our faces constantly. There was a time when kids could play together and when it got to be lunchtime or dinnertime, unless you were specifically invited to stay for lunch or dinner, you went...

    Workouts for Young Girls

I was an obese 11-year-old (back when there were at most 1 or 2 fat kids per class) so I can totally relate. Has she hit puberty? If not, sometimes surprising things happen at that point. From 11 to 13, I shot up several inches and lost more than 20 pounds, going from fat to thin in a short...

For those whose kids watch Nickelodeon...

My daughter, 7, is a big fan of iCarly and Wizards of Waverly Place (a Disney Channel show). I let her watch those after she's done her homework. They're not bad, although I wish the characters didn't talk with an "attitude" all the time. When she asks for stuff - which isn't often - I tell...

    Crossfit anyone?

I did the CF "beginners" rotation for a month, lost several pounds and got the best post-baby abs I've ever had :) I also took several classes at 2 different local affiliates. Try to go to a class if you can; usually the first one is free (although they are usually more expensive than a chain...

Anyone try the new Amy Bento Videos?

ITA, KB Dynamics is not for beginners to kettlebells. You have to already know how to do the basic moves - swing, snatch, clean, etc. I previewed it but haven't done it yet; maybe tomorrow.

    weird precision nutrition blog entry

If it was "A Woman's Guide To Getting Her Man In Shape" I bet a lot of people here would be praising it! Male or female, no one shapes up unless they really want it.

Why You're (not YOU, necessarily!) Fat

Well, if I promise to clean my plate of the lentil-stuffed zucchini... THEN can I have the deep-fried oreo? :D Neither site really turns me on, but I'm going for a happy medium between the two.

Can someone explain twitter to me?

I just signed up for Twitter, and I actually like it better than Facebook. People are constantly talking - you can do a search on practically anything, like what you're watching or what workout you're doing or what you had for lunch, etc. and find a bunch of people talking about it. I was...

    My two questions

I think the separate mix disc, like with Terminator, is a great idea. Also, consider making the heavy bag workout separate since not everyone has one or wants to get one.

    On-screen graphics?

Will there be time graphs on screen for the HIIT disc?

    My two questions

I would prefer individual DVDs like in the Hardcore series. I can't afford a set or system at this time but if the HIIT was sold separately, I would buy it.
