How many calories does your HRM show you are burning us...

200 seems a little low for pretty much any weight if you ran the whole time. I've read several times that a good average number is 100 calories per mile, and that is accurate for me when I run. Running is the highest calorie burner for me. I burn fewer per minute typically with Cathe, but...

    New Jari Love workout

I guess I was a little disappointed in this workout. I felt like it had a lot of build up (burn up to 1000 calories--I burned 344) and the cover says it is about 70 minutes. Yeah, that includes all the other "stuff" she includes on her videos, the workout itself was about 55 minutes. It...

Ryka Enlight II and the hunt for the best step shoe!

Yeah, after wearing my Enlight II's for 18 months it was time to replace them. I got the Avia 681's and love them--probably even more than the Rykas! Read the reviews on Zappos.com--all true. They were $64, free shipping. I'm very happy I found them.

Happy Halloween! What's your workout today?

I did MIS today! New DVDs arrive tomorrow!

Ok - this is totally not a workout or Cathe related poll question. Rather it's about the continuing

RE: Ok - this is totally not a workout or Cathe related poll question. Rather it's about the continuing saga of my broken 3-y.o. top of the line refrigerator from Sears. I've been getting a horrible In 1991, newly out of college and setting up my first apartment, I purchased close to the most...

    What's your favorite cardio workout?

I voted other because my answer would be "all of the above". I have to constantly mix it up or I get bored and demotivated. Right now I'm training for a 10-mile run on Oct. 1. I'm almost through my 10-week training program for that, and I'm so bored by now! I cross train 2 times per week...

Ok - Puzzle mat floor users

The soreness in my achilles tendons and knees vanished as soon as I put them down (over carpet, pad and the cement slab), never to return.

Do I really need extra risers for High Step??

Hi there: Cathe and crew use 5 risers for most high step leg presses--and all of them other than Rhonda are 5'1"-5'2". I was using 4 for awhile, because that's all I had, but I found using 5 or 6 (at 5'6") has made a difference and really is what I should be using.

    Most Unfavourite Move ....

Slam-its! Everyone else loves them, but I hate them. I love SB except for that move. I also dislike those hammer lunge things mentioned above--kill my knees. I do them, just much more shallow. I happen to like power scissors. :+

    Five New CIA workouts

There was a review on the first two, which were mailed the last week of March around that time, or early in April (you'll need to search). I agree about the Gay Gaspar and Ann Marie Sills. I'm sure you'll see reviews of the new ones soon.

Tell me about the Rythmic Step-Imax-MIC DVD

Oh, I didn't realize that! RS is my favorite step only workout, and now that Kara mentions it, I did the MIC hi/lo only portion just this morning. There goes $50! ;-) }(

Tell me about the Rythmic Step-Imax-MIC DVD

Hi Shannon: Each individual workout on this DVD is chaptered, but there are no premixes for any of them individually or together (like there is on the BB and later series). I would think you could get by without the DVD, unless your VHS are so old that you might have to replace them soon anyway.

    Do I really need it?

Depends what your objective is. If it is to obtain as many different type workouts as possible, I think you could skip the Pure Strength series. All the other heavier lifting vidoes you have do everything Pure Strength does and more. However, I would recommend getting the Power Hour and...

    First Blast of IMAX 3

I have fallen twice on that blast (on 6 inches no less), and I very rarely fall. Jumping sideways to the top and down just doesn't work for me, beween being not fully warmed up, beat up from the straddle taps and general clumsiness. I just return to the normal position behind the bench and...

    New CIA 2601-Step Cardio Express

I received this last week, along with 2602 (which I haven't done yet). The instructor is Gay Gaspar, whom I've never done before. It was really fun! I was mostly able to get the choreography on the first try, and it was very much Cathesque IMO. I was only using one set of risers on my bench...

    Yams, sweet potatoes, & potatoes

Yams, sweet potatoes and brown rice contain more fiber, and as a result have a lower glycemic index. This promotes less of an insulin response. Keeping your insulin levels, and therefore blood glucose levels, at steady state which keeps wild energy swings and hunger at bay, and reduces the...

    Favorite "non-step" workout?

RE: Favorite Guess I disagree on the Cardio Kicks/Circuit Max DVD. On Cardio Kicks, there is this great set of arm drills at the end that leaves me soaked in sweat and my arms fried. Plus, you get Circuit Max on the same DVD, and I burn the most calories of all the circuits on this one. The...

    What's your dream job?

You are all better people than I. You want to help people, help animals, etc. My dream job? The drummer in successful rock band. Would this be a total waste of my education? Yes. Have I ever played drums? No. Am I mostly an introvert? Yes. Yet the fact remains that this is, and always...

    Workout with Cathe only?

If you would have asked this any time up to a month ago, I would have said "yes." But I was getting so tired of not having anything new that I ordered the CIA presale videos and took advantage of the discounted prices they had for presale customers on some of the older CIA videos. I figured...

    we believe in you cathe!

Everyone else has posted excellent points. I just wanted to add that I'm pretty sure no other instructor even comes close to the number of DVDs you have. I have all of them and when reviewing my workouts for 2005, I found that even the ones I did the most I only did about 10 times each- and...
