What's the question?

OHhhh - didn't work. Sorry. The question is about my 3-year old top of the line fridge from Sears - broken since July. Still not fixed. Most recently the 4th technician came out last Wed, ordered parts and said they'd be here in 2 days, then I should call them back out. A week later I have no parts.

I called to complain yesterday and told them I was overnight expressing a letter to the CEO-pres of Sears, detailing everything since July, and including everyone's names that I'd dealt with. 30 minutes later when I was at the post office I got a message that they were willing to replace the unit. Now the poll question, would you

call to make arrangements for the replacement,

wait to see if the CEO does anything

do something else?

My response is "other". I would let them replace it AND still send the letter.

yup, my thought too, get the replacement AND send the letter. BTW my experiences with Sears have been terrible.

Take the replacement, THEN send an updated letter to CEO.

I agree you should get the replacement and still send the letter. I, for one, will not buy anything from Sears ever again. We've been dissatisfied with just about every appliance we've purchased from them and their customer/repair service is terrible!

I'm not a fan of Sears either. I bought a big expensvie side-by-side fridge a few years ago. It was delivered and didn't work. All my food spoiled. They wanted to send a repairman. Fix a brand new fridge??? No way, I demanded a new one that works. I got it but it left me with a bad attitude towards Sears. :-(

What Michelle said.

Funny, but all of my experiences with Sears have been very positive. I've had three appliances fixed by them. Repair personnel have been prompt, courteous, and competent. I have no qualms with their customer service either. Maybe it's a Texas thing? :)

I hope you get it all smoothed out. I'd be upset if I were in your place, too.

Oh boy do I know about that attitude toward them. That's one reason I'm reluctant to even take a replacement - because it means I'll still have to deal with them in the future. ICK! I did overnight the letter and the CEO should have it by noon today. Another reason I'm reluctant to take a replacement is because they are apparenlty having a lot of problems with this model. So would I take the same one? Upgrade to the newer model? I just hate this whole situation! Thanks for all your input.

In 1991, newly out of college and setting up my first apartment, I purchased close to the most basic Kenmore washer and dryer at Sears (in Dallas, Pinky :) ). It is now 2006 and I'm still using them! Moved 4 times and not one thing has EVER gone wrong with them! I'd love to have new, but can't justify.

I think it may be a symptom of how poorly made appliances are these days. We bought an upright freezer from Best Buy a couple of years ago (Whirlpool), and it broke within the first month. After 3 repair people couldn't fix it, it was replaced by Best Buy.

I read somewhere that appliances are made to last 6-7 years now--that really chaps me--not like they're cheap!

Another Texan here with no complaints about Sears. Washer and Dryer are 10 years old and the few repairs have been handle professionally.

If a replacement was offered, I'd take the replacement, but if you are concerned that your's was not an isolated case, then still send a letter of concern (after you receive the replacement) stating that you are glad they finally offered to replace the unit, but how dissatisfied you are with the way things were handled and that you wanted to notify them that they appear to have a customer service problem in your area.
