No wt loss, what am I doing wrong?

    >Should I skip the total body weights and concentrate on >heavier weights like PUB/PLB? Any advise would be greatly >appreciated. Thanks. I'd fix the diet thing first. That'll make the biggest difference for you.

    Martial Arts-esque Kickboxing???

    >But honestly, there's >nothing quite like a martial arts class. Because like so much >out there, technique is everything. Call around - a lot of >the dojos have classes at all different times of the day - >maybe something would fit your schedule. Just a thought. I >love the precision of...

    Anyone else order from advancedworkoutsdvd.com?

I've had no problems with them, and have received my replacement B&G from them, along with the envelope to return the old DVD. I've found Jen a pleasure to deal with. What email address are you using to contact her? Try denhance at tds dot net if you're using something else.

Help, please - P90X vs. Cathe question

I think one has to start thinking about weights as TOOLS and not numbers. Use the weight that is appropriately challenging for the exercise - and forget the rest. }(

    Anyone ever crack a rib?

I broke a rib last winter. I never did bother to see a doctor, since there is nothing that really is done insofar as wrapping, etc. to cracked ribs. Exercise wise, I don't recall it being THAT restricting; I just selected exercises that didn't bother it too much. Ab work and rotational...

Can you all help me out??

I recommend the book, Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle by Tom Venuto. (It's an ebook.) It'll teach you how to optimally titrate your diet/exercise program so that it moves in the direction you want it to move. Personally, I'd suggest the "less is more" approach. Look at what you are doing...

    Question for all dog owners

I used one of those products on my dogs - the active ingredient (AI), as I recall, was fipronil. One dog (a Jack Russell) had a bit of a reaction to it (lethargy for a few days) but the other dogs, including another Jack, didn't. I know a couple of different AIs are used in these products; if...

    Re: I fractured 2 ribs

Currently have a broken rib. I dispensed with the formality of seeing a doctor - frankly I didn't realize what I'd done at first, and by the time I did it seemed like a moot point - and treated it at first with NSAIDs and ice. For me the pain subsided to discomfort gradually over about a week...

    How have you been injured

Broke a rib a couple of weeks ago - coughing. That was fun. Can't say I've missed a workout but there are some things I just can't do right now so I've modified as necessary. Bit frustrating, but no where near as frustrating as not being able to work out at all.

Anyone else not into circuit workouts?

I only own two circuit workouts, BC and C&W. As much as I do like BC, I MIGHT do it three or four times a year, max. I've probably done C&W twice ever. I just don't see the point in circuits, except as excess energy burners, and feel no obligation to do them.

    Spinning?

Spinning rocks! One of the best things about it is that you can really make it your own ride and go easier or harder as necessary or desired. The only serious problem you might have jumping right into an hour long class is soreness in the nether regions. Those seats are hard, and a lot of...

beachbody workouts? comparison to cathe workouts?

I didn't to slim in 6, but I did try slim series and loathed it. Not just the music, which is bad, but most video workout music is bad (IMO) so I'm immune to that, pretty much. What was really disappointing was the LOSS of any kind of shape in my arms/upper body. I even went as heavy as I...

muscle endurance training vs. strength training

ME is tough, but feeling like you need to premedicate yourself isn't a good sign. Maybe try one of Cathe's intermediate workouts instead?

The Contender - give it up...who watched?

I taped it and watched it last night. I could do without all the family stuff but I loved the fight at the end (didn't end like I expected, either!). Hopefully when the show drops to an hour they'll tighten up the ship.

    Slim Series: What's the point?????

    >Nothing but looking good? You say that as if there's something wrong with looking good. :P I don't own slim series and don't particularly like high rep workouts in general. (I get cranky when I have to count much more than a dozen reps.) But people seem to do very well with the series...

    Push Up Question

I find the prop pushups/greater range of motion thing to be true; I got bars to kick my pushups up a notch. }( If you're going deeper than you were before, I'd say you're finding them harder because they ARE harder, not because you're a weenie!

How many risers do you use on the regular step workouts?

RE: How many risers do you use on the regular step work... I have a Reebok step - 6" is the lowest height and I usually use that unless the choreo is really simple and/or I know it dead on and need/want a greater challenge. I'm a bit under 5'3".

    Self. Because I enjoy it.

Recovery Weeks -- Do You Believe In Them

I'd be interested in know this, too. I wasn't really familiar with the concept of recovery weeks/periods and scoffed at them until I did P90X & they were built in. Since then they've been a staple with me. I even find I can work harder during the "on" times becase I know there's an "off" time...
