Cathlete
Morning, ladies :)

It's gonna be a wicked hot one here, so I've split up my workout. Did a slightly-less-than-three mile run and will hit L&G tonight after work. I tried to run at 60-70% of what I *think* my max HR is, but it was ridiculously slow. I couldn't stay in my zone unless I walked. As it is, it took me 37 minutes to do not even 3 miles. Something isn't right there. I need to learn more about this.

It was an interesting run - I encountered a dead rat and three live deer - right beside a major road.

Diana :: yeah, I find I am better about doing yoga when it is on a rotation or when I am paying for classes! I can't believe I never did rotations until just before the X.

Angie :: sorry - I probably didn't make much sense. Someone posted a link to the sale, but in her message, it said do NOT order until the sale has *officially* started or your order will be voided. Well, I sort of skimmed her message, didn't see that part of it, clicked the link, and also didn't see the same warning at the top of the order form. So, I went ahead & ordered. I rec'd an email confirmation, invoice #, and all that, and didn't realize until later that I'd screwed up and not followed directions.

OK, gotta down some oatmeal here and get cracking. I need to leave in about 15 minutes and I'm still sitting here in a robe and wet hair.

Have a great day, all!
~Cathy :)

Good Morning Cathy and all others!:)

Cathy: You sound like me. I am such a procrastinator when it comes to getting ready for work! I've always waited until the last possible minute! LOL I hope you got out the door in time!:)

I am taking a rest day today as I suspected I would. I have to jump in the shower in 15 minutes and was not awake enough to work out as soon as I got up at 6 so I nixxed it. :p

I'll check in later tonight when I get home....
Have a great day ladies!

Good morning ladies!

I don't know why, but I'm in a ridiculously good mood today.:) I was messing with the idea of going into work today, but I think I will work on some projects I need to do at home that have nothing to do with cleaning. I have some mail to go thru and a notebook for the 5th wheel to put together so we can actually find the info we need. They gave us a bunch of brochures on everything with the trailer and it's really a pain to find what you need when you need it. I'm in a creative mood today so I'll think I'll stay at home and just go with it. In fact, this morning I started putting together some exercises that I like and catagorized them into muscle groups and am toying with the idea of putting together my own program. I have no idea why I'm even doing this since Cathe and Tony have already done this for me - but hey, maybe something different will get results for me. I just don't know why I feel the need to re-invent the wheel today. Maybe tomorrow all my creativity will be gone and that will be the end of it. LOL!

Cathy - Do you use a HRM? To get my 70% of max, I just took a look at it when I was doing those killer exercises in plyoX when my HR was in the high 180's and even up as high as 190 and took 60% to 80% of that to just get a gauge of what my target HR was. I don't know if this is accurate or not, but at least it would give you a gauge of what to look for on your HRM. Then, see if that seems like a comfortable pace for you. If not, just use a perceived exertion and go by that. I also had to re-calculate my HR based on my max HR, b/c my max used to be almost 200 and now it's at about 188. It's not a major change but something to consider anyways.

Wendy - I like your new tat - very unique! So, when are you taking the plunge? Is DH getting one too? Have fun at the zoo today and I hope it's not too hot.

I posted personals last night so hope you all go take a look.

BBL to see what everyone is up to.

Angie

Morning ladies ...

well finally got a GOOD night's sleep .. think I did not even roll over last night .. had some very weird dreams .. kinda freaky!! DH was civil .. think we both are in the "cooling off" phase .. "better tread lightly" phase .. LOL!

Angie . . LOL .. you cracked me up .. we have GOT to be related .. LOL .. b/c ... yes when we have a doozy of a fight .. all laundry, cleaning services and cooking stops!! His clothes are stacked in a clump in the x-tra bedroom and he had to wash his own clothes yesterday .. LOL .. mine of course are clean and nicely put away .. LOL!! that is TOO FUNNY!!! :) Did not know anyone else did that!!! (and yes PMS monster is on my back .. but I think HE is the one that has the PMS this time ..LOL)

Cathe - AWESOME rotation - and I am so proud .. yoga in the mix!! You get 5 gold stars~!!!:)

Diana - my DH is the king of "I am always right" .. and I am the QUEEN of "I am always right" .. although I AM ALWAYS right .. he is not!! LOL .. even if he KNEW he was not right he would never admit it ..

Wendy .. LOVE the tattoo!! I am impressed .. nice drawing ..think it will look awesome . . will have to take a pic of the finished product once completed!!:)

Nancy - 1 1/2 days to go .. I know you are excited!!

Well .. today is either BBC bicep/tricep torture .. OR heavy legs in the gym ... SIL is meeting me . . will let her decided ... tonight is 60 min. super step cardio! Going to be drenched b/c it is HOT and MUGGY here .. hard to breath in weather like this .. the air is so heavy!!

I have actually dropped some weight .. my dang pants are falling off .. when I am emotionally stressed weight falls off of me!! I got to make sure I eat some good old gut sticking food today!!

Ok .. everyone have a great day .. and I will check back later!!:7

Wendy - I love the tatoo!!!! I'm so "straight and narrow" I'd probably give a few of my family/friends a heart attack if I ever deviated - so no tatoos for me, lol. Seriously, I like them but they just don't match me.

Yup, we're still in school!!!! Mayor Bloomberg of NYC really knows how to torture us!!! The kids are miserable as there is no A/C in the classrooms. I'm one of the lucky ones!!! Tomorrow is the last day and it's a half day. It can't come quick enough!!!

You're funny, Angie. Reinvent the wheel, huh? I'm too lazy to give it that much thought. I just go with the flow of a dvd. I often think about how happy I am about finding home workout dvds. Before this I went to the gym, played around on the machines (never knowing if I was doing a good job or not), and went to some classes. The problem was that a lot of those classes I ended up going home disappointed. I'm never disappointed after a Cathe (or Tony) workout. At least I feel worked out!!!!!

Today is upper body for me. I did GS Legs yesterday and Leaner Leg abs. I felt really worked after those two.

Diana, it's wicked hot here today too!!!! I'm thinking about staying in for lunch and not even venturing out there until the end of the day.

Have a good day!!!!

:)

Hey Laura -

We were posting at the same time, I guess. Yup, I'm excited.

I'm glad to hear you and hubby are in the cooling off phase. Making up should be interesting, huh? Sounds like I need some emotional stress too - my pants are feeling snug!!!!

Nancy

Hi girls

Well the good mood is loooooong gone! DH called with a problem at work. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr}( It was a problem that I just knew was gonna happen and he wouldn't listen - yes, I even went there with the "I told you so". I am sooooo pi$$ed!

Laura - Maybe our DH's are related too! Our lives seem to run in parallels - very weird. We MUST be related. LOL! I had weird dreams last night too, really funky ones that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Hot & wicked days like these may call for some CABS!

Nancy - I too, thank goodness for the w/o DVD's. Tony and Cathe are hard to beat for sure. I'm now out of my mood, so it may not go any farther than a couple of notes.
Congrats on just one more half day......wooooohoooo!

Diana must still be working out. LOL!

Off to go and blow off some steam with IMAX2 - hopefully it will do it's magic and put me in a better mood. :7

Angie

Hi Ladies,

I don't know how I did it, but I managed to get up and do LIC Cardio timesaver this morning and have Chest & Triceps at the gym this afternoon.

Cathy-Great job getting that run in this morning.

Wendy-Nice tattoo! Enjoy your rest day-you don't seem to have many of those.

Angie-sorry your good mood is gone:( To answer your post from yesterday-I actually prefer GS Legs over PLB. Again, that is just my preference, PLB is a great workout. The stability ball portion of PLB is killer though and I sometimes add that as an add on to other workouts.

Nancy-Almost out of school YEAH! I'm guessing school must start in September for you. My kids go back to school mid to late August and get out usually the first week of June.

Laura-Sorry you and DH haven't made up yet. Hope you and SIL have a great lunch workout.

Diana

Heavy legs at the gym done!:7 and boy were the legs heavy .. a bit of DOMS in the inner thigh area from last night "kick@$$" class ..

DH actually called and was attempting to be nice! planning a fishing trip this weekend .. and even invited DB, SIL, and nephew down to stay .. .. think I almost fainted!! So guess that is his way of "making nice" ..

now my VBF is kinda ticked b/c we are going out of town and she has planned a party for another friend's b-day Sat. night and I am gonna miss it .. sometimes you can't win for loosing!! x(

but not gonna miss a beach trip - deep sea fishing trip - and a chance to go on the beach my my buddy (nephew) .. sorry!:(

aahhhhh .. always something .. is it a full moon???

OK .. come on 5:00 .. ready for my cardio session to burn off some of this uncalled for stress !!!:D

Wendy :: enjoy today’s rest day.

Angie :: yes, I have a HRM but don’t use it all the time. I was intrigued by a recent thread on the OD forum and thought I’d pursue the concept of slow running/HR training for fat loss. But it’s funny, I was thinking how when I first started running in ’95, I didn’t have any of this tech gear—iPods and Garmins and HRMs, and I wound up losing some weight just by going out there and running and not thinking too hard about it. That’s probably what I need to do. Keep it simple. I’m going to read up on it a little more, but I can’t see the value in doing what I did today on a regular basis…I am forgetting what you do for work…do you & DH have your own business?

Laura :: thanks for the comments on the rotation – I love yoga and always feel so much better when it is a regular part of the mix…just ordered two new DVDs yesterday but I am tempted to go back to class, too. Nothing like a live class...what is VBF? Very best friend? Well, look at this way – if she’s ticked at you, that’s really a compliment – it means you’ll be missed.

Nancy :: OMG, I can’t imagine being in the classroom today. The poor kids and staff!

Diana :: those split workouts of yours are so impressive ~ don’t know how you do it all the time!

OK, gonna eat an early chow and then hit L&G. Haven't done that one in a while...for some reason, I am thinking I should prepare for pain. I think I hate that high step.

~Cathy :)

LOL .. Cathe ..

<<<what is VBF? Very best friend>>>

Yup that is it .. I can't bring myself to type BFF .. sounds too much like something Paris Hilton would say .. LOL .. but yeah she wants me there .. and at least I know I will be missed (for a while until the CABS start rolling then it will be Laura who?)

hey .. my opnioin on running!! I think if you run regularly .. changing the pace or tempo of your run may help in weight loss ... I don't know about going slower though ... I would experiment w/alternating between long endurance runs .. then interval runs: running and putting FULL out sprints interspersed throughout the run!! That will also improve your speed (imho) .. at least that works for me!!

:7

Laura :: *lol* yeah, I used "bff" on my vbf recently and I felt like one of the middle schoolers we teach! I didn't know how else to abbreviate it on a tm, though! Now I know! :)

I have gained speed through interval training in the past - I agree it works - but I don't do much of it now. Since I returned to running last spring, I have been just focused on burning fat, and that is still my #1 priority. I figured it would just continue to come off eventually with a combo of cardio & weights, but now I am beginning to feel impatient. I was getting my mileage back up there last fall but then scaled back during the winter and the X. I was curious to see how my body would react to heavy weights. I've noticed that the scale has stayed the same for MONTHS now, *but* my bf% has gone down and my lean muscle has gone up (this is based on my scale, which I know is not 100% accurate - but still, I've been looking at trends.) The HR experiment today is making me think I am not the advanced exerciser I think I am! Although I have some pounds to shed, I think of myself as being fit. Maybe not!

~Cathy :)

OK, L&G wound up a bit botched. My DVD player crapped out on me -- totally froze up in the middle of the Standing Legs premix. I almost went into panic mode there as I couldn't get any freakin' buttons to work...not even eject. By the time it finally spit out the DVD, I decided I'd done enough for today. I have legs coming up again on Friday, so there'll be another opportunity to turn 'em to mush.

I'm happy to say I have done well with the eating the past two days (what an achievement ~ two days! *lol*), which is good because tomorrow I need to have willpower of steel. I'm BBQing with one group of friends and then Thursday it's out to dinner with another. I hate to say this, but on one level, I think I really need to be a hermit just to avoid temptation at these social gatherings. I'm trying to go CAB-free this week! Is it humanly possible????? :p :D

~Cathy :)

Hey Ladies.

It was a long, hot, tiring day but fun!:)

Angie: I have my appointment to get my tat on Monday July 2nd at 5pm! Less then a week away! WOO HOO! }( The zoo was hot but not TOO hot and it's a small zoo so we didn't need all day into the full heat of the afternoon to do it which helped.

Nancy: I was in your neck o' the woods today as we went to the SI zoo! I was thinkin' about ya!:) When I got my first tat it was something I had talked about at 18 yrs old but never seriously thought I would ever go through with! Even on the day I got it (I was about 25 yrs old at the time), that wasn't my plan. I was just going to "look around". I had never even been in a shop before. Before ya know it I had picked one out and 4 hours later I was in the chair w/a needle in my tush!!! }( :7 LOL

Laura: I am flattered that you apparently think I drew that tat design myself but I soooo did not! LOL They are 2 separate designs that I downloaded and printed off the internet and then cut apart and taped back together on another piece of paper the way I wanted them! :+

Diana: I usually work out 6 and take 1 rest day per week from exercise. What do you strive for as far as how many days per week you exercise?

Cathy: Well look at the social butterfly go! My gosh girl! You sound like you have more friends then I have work out dvds and that's ALOT!!!!:7 Have fun!!!

Well I didn't make it to gym as planned. It just got too hectic at work. Somehow I managed to find myself on the help desk rotation starting yesterday. My help desk time is from 11-3. Other than working out really late at the gym it is fine. It does however cut into my WW meetings which I usually go to on Wed. at lunch. I'm going to email my boss about this and see what he says.

I need to go shopping tonight and have no idea if I will get my workout in at home either. I'm really bummed about this.

Cathy-oh no, your dvd player isn't working-sorry. Hopefully it is nothing serious. Maybe you can just unplug and replug and that will un-jam it. I work in IT and those are technical terms:)

Diana

Diana - Sorry to hear that your w/o plans got foiled. I hate when that happens. W/o's are like therapy for me so to miss out on them is tough.:-( Hope you get your work schedule worked out.
Any word from Jarod?

Cathy - DH and I own and operate a small trucking company. We are having...ahem.....a disagreement about an employee. He knows I'm right about it, but he's so darn nice that he's just not doing much about the problem we're having. Don't get me wrong - I love DH for being such a nice guy which is why I love him so darn much. But, it kinda gets in the way at work sometimes. I'm the b$t$h at work and he's the nice guy. Works for me b/c I was born to play the role. LOL! I'm not mean, but I don't bite my tongue either - just wasn't raised that way. You just don't have to wonder where you stand with me, but I'd like to think I'm fair and approachable. It's not easy being the only female in the company.:(
So, sounds like the perceived exertion scale might work best for you? I hope you get it figured out. I know how frustrating it is to find something that works well - ug, constant struggle. I still log my food everyday to try and keep my eating under control and....well....I'm still trying to get the exercise thing figured out but I'm making progress. I've learned so much in the past year thanks to all the smart people on this site, including our very own guinea pig.;) - Thank you Wendy:);)

Laura - I was wondering about the full moon thing too.... Glad DH is starting to see the light.....he must be getting hungry. LOL! Sounds like you have another spectacular weekend coming up.:)

Wendy - So glad you had a good time today. Do you have anything planned for the 4th yet? Anyone else?

Better get ready for bed - tomorrow is gonna be another long day:(
