Thanks everyone. I still can't believe I have my own space after all those years of working out in my family room. Having to push furniture out of the way, drag my equipment out of my kids' room and fight over the computer monitor (because I didn't have a TV to use) wasn't much fun.

When we bought our new house (about 18 months ago) I was thrilled that it had an exercise room. Over the last year and a half I've been able to amass the equipment you see in it (some of it I already had).

Thanks everyone for your encouraging and positive responses.

That looks really nice! You have a good amount of space, lucky girl.

You've done the same thing w/your heavy bag that I've done--stuck it in the corner. What do you have around it? Some kind of matting? That's a good idea--it never occurred to me to find a way to protect the paint on my walls.

Thanks Michele! Most of my basement is painted that color (it's a pale yellow) to help lighten it up since there isn't a lot of natural light down there.

I just wanted to say I love reading your posts! You're always so positive and ready to help out (especially with a cardio coach question;)

Oh, thank you Jacque! I guess I do tend to run on about CC and Sean  . What can I say, that man's crazy workouts forever changed how I feel about cardio exercise.

Just so you all know, I adore Cathe, too, and use all of her strength workouts. ;)

Cathe + Sean = AWESOME!!!

Hi Laura! Actually I just put it in the corner to get it out of the way. When I want to use it I move it out of the corner (not an easy thing). I have it sitting on a piece of puzzle mat. The floor mats you see around it are just there. I guess they could be used as cushion to keep the bag from hitting the wall.

Yeah, moving those things are a PIA! How come you don't leave it in the corner? Mine kept ending up there b/c it moves so I figured WTH, it wants to be there, so it's staying there. :p

I like to have some space to move around it. I've found that having it on the puzzle mat and putting a heavy dumbbell behind it keeps it from moving around too much.

Jacque, your workout room is beautiful! How big is the space? My husband has been wanting to build me a separate room in our finished basement, but I didn't think I'd have enough room to do step or for a squat rack without feeling cramped. I can't wait to show him your pics-he's been antsy for a project to do and I think this might just be it!:)

Wowzer that is Fantastic! That is truly a dream workout room. You even have the Monroe posters I want to put in my space.

Hi Klaudia! Sorry it took me so long to get back to your question. I actually had to go downstairs and measure the room because I didn't know how big it is. Anyway, it's 23x13 (more or less).

How awesome that your husband can do that for you! Good luck with your new project!
