Why you should measure yourself...

Two month ago I weighed and measured myself to kick off my get ready for the beach workout and healthy eating plan. I weighed myself this morning and was disapointed to find I had not lost any weight...but when I checked my measurments I had lost 2 and a half inches over all...What could have been a real downer turned into motivation to keep me going....Use several different tools to track your progress and you'll find motivation too.

I totally agree! I have been keeping track of my measurements on the Cathe calendar. Last month my weight did not change much either, but I lost 2" in my waist and thighs! That was a huge motivator! :) Congrats on your progress!!! :)

Well, I didn't measure myself when I began my quest to get back to my "pre-injury" shape, but my pants fit now. AND....my dd told me I look like I've lost weight, so that's cool.

I feel that I am alot smaller then my weight/height would imply. I am not even 5' 4", I range between 127 and 131 pounds and I wear a size 4. It's all in the measurements! The scale is deceiving because muscle weighs more then fat!

I agree that inches are a much more useful way to measure progress. The scale can be affected by so many variables (water, undigested food, etc.) so it's not the best way to see if a diet or exercise routine is working. However I couldn't resist not posting about the whole myth that muscle weights more than fat. A pound is a pound be it muscle, fat, water, feathers, coal, etc. The fact is that a pound of muscle takes much less SPACE than a pound of fat. Bottom line is a pound is a pound no matter what substance you are weighing.

Cathe's calendar has been really good for keeping track of measurments and such. I wasn't doing that at all before. What a revelation. I like doing this every month now.
