Who cares - April

Hello!

Spring has sprung looking at all the posts here!!

Lisa - I remember you also having to get particular pillows and lie down in a particular way. The osteopath mentioned my pillow in passing and as I've been waking up sore I decided to swap. Bingo! No morning pain. I have two pillows and I always just used the firmer of the two, I'm now using the softer one and it seems to be working. Funny what you learn!

Tracy - how do you stick to just one spoonful? Dangerous! I work at home so the whole kitchen is available. It's amazing how you can go from once a week having something additional to eat in the afternoon to doing it everyday without even noticing.

Mary - I think we're all coming round for Taco Tuesday!

Jody - would love to meet up with you and DD in London. That would be amazing. Timing isn't great as it's DH's 60th birthday that weekend and we're going away (surprise, don't tell him!). But I would be around on the 5th if you're not arriving too late or jetlagged to be gabbled at by a mad Brit! We can perhaps sort something out nearer the time.

Murphy - hope you had a nice time and that you catch up with sleep!

Day 2 of rotation done: RUUB plus B&G Stab Abs. No shoulder issues as yet and I went similar weights to Cathe where I could.

Hello! Today did a premix from KP&C, an oldie. Ronne, how fun to meet up with jody! You will love her! Glad you figured out the pillow, I do love a soft one. My DH sleeps on the flattest pillow, it might as well be a towel, I don't know how he does it. Jody, how fun to plan such a great adventure! Lisa, is France all figured out? That will be fun! You could bike from winery to winery? Tracey, last night DH actually cooked! He had 6 tacos! Maybe because he ran 9 miles earlier. He is training for a half marathon. I'm just the cheerleader. Hello to everyone else's! Good evening to you! Mary

Hi everyone! Thank you for the welcome Lisa! Wow!! You have really been through a lot with a neck fusion! That is a pretty major surgery and I'm glad that you are better and getting stronger. I also understand having to do a mind shift on the workouts! I'm definitely not as hard on myself now in my 50s as I was in my younger years and I am very OK with that. That's awesome that you fell in love with biking and spinning! I haven't biked in years because it would never work with my dog. But I enjoy being outside with him in the hilly neighborhood while he runs, runs, runs, stops, sniffs, pees, runs some more, poops, runs, sniffs, pees, trots, etc.

Ronne, I don't have just one spoonful of peanut butter! So I try to be mindful when I have it. Am I bored or truly hungry? Then there are the days I just don't care. :D That's so cool that you and Jody will meet up!

I'm jealous your hubby cooked Mary! DH will BBQ sometimes but not too often. That's wonderful your DH is training for a 1/2 marathon! My DH doesn't exercise routinely and I wish he did! He's active though so I'm happy about that.

No workout today, was out of town for work and then got a massage after work. Well, that is kind of a workout since she works on me pretty hard!

Talk to you later fit babes!

Hello

Tracey - I love having massage. I'm going for a facial tomorrow morning. After my recent shoulder problems, I was a bit nervous about a massage.

Mary - My DH is the same, I always laugh at his pillow - I call it a biscuit, it's so flat!

Rotation ground to a halt. Got a cold, had a >?_+< night's sleep and just thought that exercise would make it worse.
Also, my hamstring started hurting last night for no obvious reason, so I think I might have to take a complete break and work on getting that better. It's so annoying, I was all fired up to start a new rotation, get rid of a few extra pounds and feel good. It's like I've got two voices in my head: be sensible, take a break and heal; and the other one going, exercise, exercise, exercise. I just don't want to stop completely! I found a website with good instructions for hamstring injury recovery, so I've done a couple of the early stage stretches off that.
I know I need to stop but I just can't bear the thought of it. Do you think I might be addicted?!!
I know you'll all understand...

I was just too beat to spin yesterday, so I did HR UB PM, then today was 1 hr of spinning.

Ronne, Have you tried foam rolling? I always do the foam roll everyday ever since PT after the fusion. Yes, I have a special pillow, http://therapeuticainc.com/sleeping_pillow.html I still can' sleep on my side (that's how I used to sleep), and now have to sleep on my back. Sleeping on the side puts my shoulder in a bad position and I know I'll wake up with shoulder blade pain. Hope you get to feeling better! 50 is tough! LOL

Tracy, My dog is 15 lbs so she rides in a basket on the back, but she does love to run, especially when we head back toward home. She's a weird shiba inu.

Mary, I canceled France, was getting too expensive, since my bike is a special setup I'd have to ship it and that is like $1000, that was the straw that broke the camels back. Maybe one day we'll get there and do more typical tourist stuff. Plus the route my sister picked was so FLAT! She kept telling the tour person that I needed an easy route where in reality she did! I really am starting to enjoy these hills! The flat route DH and I did Sunday was actually a bit boring!

Hello! Today did To the Max, feel like I'm reminiscing! Lisa, I'm so sorry about France, $1000 just for the bike?? That is a lot of money! Oooo, I bet you miss sleeping on your side! Did it take awhile to get used to?? Ronne, sounds like your body is screaming for a rest! You don't want to get an injury that takes forever to recover from! Tracey, glad you enjoyed your massage, not my favorite, don't really like people touching me! Weird, I know! Hello to Jody, Murphy and Roxie! Gotta get dinner going, I think breakfast for dinner? Talk to you tomorrow! Mary

Hi ladies

Lisa - shame about France but I can understand why. Yeah, you'll just have to go and visit and maybe hire bikes for short rides while you're there. I've never tried foam rolling. Do you think it would work for hamstrings? The shoulder seems to be completely better now at least!

Mary - I think that's exactly what I've got with the hamstring.

No workout again today. Still feeling quite rough with the cold. Did my hamstring stretches. Think I'm going to focus on upper body and abs for a bit...
Went for a facial this morning which was lovely. Came out feeling really relaxed and skin feels lovely.

Hello! Today did a Julia workout, long one since I'm off today. Ronne, I know DH foam rolls his gluteus and hamstrings, just sits on it and goes to town. He says it works for him. Worth a try. Lisa, now you and DH can plan a fabulous trip for just the two of you! How is everyone else? Have to get to the shower! Good weekend to all! Mary

CUB and 55 min of spinning, a rainy day, we need the moisture but hoping it clears up for the weekend. Mary, I don't like people touching me either! I've even told my massage lady that she's only one I let touch me. I know I used to have to get fingerprinted for work, the police would say, relax you're getting finger prints for a good reason. You have to literally let them move your hand. Ronne, I foam roll glutes too. You can do hamstring, quads, itb. My face is so dry, I think it's wind burn from riding outside and our dry air.

Good Morning,

I have been working out just not consistent with it. DH and I looked at a house on Thursday it was duplex an they want 1,050 a month for it and we are not sure how the furniture will fit. We picked up two of the boys from daycare Thursday night then stayed at DD's Came home yesterday so I haven't been to work since Thursday and they are probably happy with that since they are ready for me to leave. Today I did StudioSweat 30 Minute Sculpt April 13 2017 with Mere W only 23 minutes but a nice combo of weight work then I walked on the TM for 30 minutes cool partly sunny day here.

Hi, fun seeing all the posts from you fit friends or babes as Tracy has deemed : ).

So, Lisa, maybe one of these trips would work for you? I nearly signed up for this one but I can't take PDO in from Jan-June 1. Grrrrr. https://boatbiketours.com/boat-bike-tours/france/provence-to-camargue/ this particular one was a group rate put together by a local travel club who go snow skiing together. They've been around for 20 years. It used to be a bunch of 40-50 somethings, now its a pretty mature crowd! I could have gone for about 2300 including air. : / You would still have to let go of your attachment to having your own bike.

Roxie, it will be nice to be close to the kids and not have to worry about moving and that job anymore once you get a new place. ps your dtr lives in a toyota?? LOL

Ronne, glad the shoulder is improved. Maybe gentle yoga days til you are well? I hope we can gtg! I'll tentatively plan the 5th but for sure won't hold you to anything and we can talk more.

Mary, I'm getting my college kid home this week, she finished exams yesterday. Will your dd be home over summer? Also has she decided on her field of study? I can't remember~ I'll need to help mine w/ travel shopping this go around.

Tracy, did you get any workouts in the rest of the week? Murphy?

No workout for me on Wed. 11, 12, 10 K steps at work on Thurs Fri Sat and one of those days I did stairs 30 flights in a row.

Good Morning,

I did StudioSweat Recovery Ride this morning now we are headed to the lake only suppose to be in the 60's but no wind so it shouldn't be to bad next weeks forecast is horrible.

Jodi-I need to remember to check my posts my typing is terrible its even worse on my cellphone it can take me ten minutes to send a text always have to correct.

Hi fit babes! I am not as good as you are with posting but I will try to do better!

I'm jealous of your facial Ronne! That is on my list to do next. Can't remember the last time I had one. I'm glad your shoulder is feeling better, I hope your cold is getting better too. I hate getting sick because it's a waste of time but I now rest rather than pushing it. I know I'll get back to the workouts again even though I don't like the interruption at all! Maybe your cold was a blessing in disguise for your shoulder!

Lisa, that cost to get your bike to France is crazy!! I don't blame you for cancelling your trip but I am sorry you had to. My supervisor has a Shiba Inu so I know what the breed is like! I think it's great she rides in a basket. I don't think my Cavalier would have any of that unless he was really tired. And smaller. He's about 25 pounds. I'm a side sleeper and my shoulder prefers that I have my arm propped up on a pillow that ends up on the floor every morning. I can't sleep on my back because I usually get a headache but I did do that for awhile years ago after kidney surgery. At that time, I couldn't sleep on my right or my left side but was happy when I could again. Maybe you'll be able to again also.

Hi Mary! I know quite a few people who don't like to be touched, so, not weird! My DH has a flat pillow too--what is up about that?

Jody, you kicked me to the curb on those stairs! We have some outdoor stairs in town that I'm looking forward to using again if it ever stops @#&^%! raining. Ug! But I usually do about 15 and call it good. I did get some more workouts in this week, SS BC and an oldie--Supersets. And a long walk/jog, hill climb with doggie Sat. a.m. DH did it this a.m. so my workout today has consisted of nothing. But I'm ok taking rest days too. Usually. I get a little grumpy if I go too long without one though!

Hi Roxie! Where do you live? I'm sorry you've got bad weather coming up this week. Are you moving pretty far to be closer to your kids?

Here's to a healthy week for everyone!

Happy Monday! Today did a Cathe live, yesterday too. Also mowed the grass, couldn't find the bag, then had to rake. So, a triple workout yesterday?? Lol! Lisa, your dog is so dang cute! Especially in that basket! Tracey, I love a nice squishy one that I sink into like a cloud! Jody, I have 3 more weeks until DD come home, I'm getting psyched! DS will be home for 2 days, then has to go to Chicago for a conference, then home for 3 days until he goes to DC, I'm just taking deep breaths, so I won't cry. Roxie, I laughed about the Camry too! Hi Murphy! Youngest DS has late start, gotta run him up to school! Good day to all! Mary

Hi everyone

Thanks for all the suggestion on hamstrings. I'm definitely going to get a foam roller, sounds good.

Mary - That definitely counts as a triple workout! How's youngest DS doing without his siblings? Is he enjoying not having them around?

Tracy - I think we're all learning as we get older to take rests when we need them. I'd have just made myself worse working out with a cold. Don't worry about posting every day, we all get here when we can!

Roxie - hope the lake was nice.

Jody - have fun with DD.

Lisa - thanks for the link. Looks interesting. I'll go with the foam roller first and see how it goes.

So, new regime for now, focusing on UB and core. Did LIS UBTBT (is that right?) yesterday and a core/back strengthening yoga session today. Not much else to report actually, I've already forgotten what we did this weekend! Cut the grass again, tried not to eat too much... (not too much grass, that would be horrible!)

Hi fit chicks! I've been a cycling maniac. Dh and I did a 25 mile ride yesterday and today neighbor and I did 23 miles. She is doing so good, today's ride was a workout and not active recovery, my Heart and legs got worked! Tomorrow if the weather holds I'm having her tackle the hills to boulder and then the monster hill home.
Tracy, lol, a shiba is not an ordinary dog! I do a half on back half on side sleep. That required another pillow addition, I think our bed is filled with pillows as dh added a couple pillows too . Jody knows how obsessed I am with pillows as I was always stealing hers on the cathe RT. Mary, the first is the hardest! Ronne, I did a test, no heavy weights (just very light) and still lots of bike riding. No neck or shoulder pain! I need to remember to do the Lisa of today and not go back to heavy weights. I feel so much better , I give myself permission to do me today not the me of a decade ago. I miss the me of a decade ago but I'm embracing the me today. Why did it take so long for me to see the light?

Hello

Lisa - wow, I can't believe the mileage you do. It's incredible. I do want to get back partly to where I was, it's just a longer term project as I haven't taken care of my hamstring.

Did ICE MM Chest & Triceps plus Icy Core 1. DD back to school today so house back to normal. Work has gone mad again, I'm fighting through emails.

Ronne, how did DD exams and such turn out? LOL, glad you didn't eat the lawn cuttings but I admit my smoothies do remind me of fresh cut grass.
Lisa, did you look at the bike and barge trip? I was quite interested in it. I wasn't going to out you about your pillow hogging, but I know you'll out me and my T-rex arms so I may as well put it out there. : D.
Mary I'm not doing the bronchial thermoplasty- I've been meaning to mention it. Crying about my kids these days is more around stress than missing them, although I do miss her as well as elder DD who lives at home but I hardly see. (I'm long days w/ early bedtime, she's a late sleeper on 2-8p).
Tracy, don't worry about posting or personals, do what you feel like. I go MIA pretty frequently. But it is nice to see what everyone is up to. Do you hike or outdoor adventure much in WA?
Roxie, don't worry about the typos, I figured it out but enjoyed the chuckle. I usually use my laptop for posting.
I did a 30 min UB workout on youtube Sun and got 8.7K steps in yesterday despite 8 hours of driving (drove to UF to bring a load of DD stuff home while she's between semesters and apartments).

ETA- Tracy be careful how you answer b/c I might show up on your doorstep ha ha

Hi all. Did an Intensity premix today. Intensity is one of my favorites. Going to start a week or two of S&S, finished XTrain. Feeling strong again.

Waves to all.
