Which Firm workouts do you still do?

Hey, I was just curious as to which (if any) Firm workouts you guys still do. I did 'Lower Body Split' last Monday--the 70 minute compiled one. I haven't done it in ages and was shocked to find I was really sore the next day. I think it's because I don't have that many Cathe strength workouts yet, so I haven't been working lunges and the like quite as hard as I used to. Even after 'working up' to Cathe, I still have a few Firms that can still pack a punch. I guess I'd better still do them until I can get my Cathe strength collection built up.

Which ones do you former "Firmies" still use and how do they compare (weight wise) with Cathe's?

Thanks,

Carol F

Hi Carol,
I don't do too many of them anymore and I usually reserve them for a low intensity day but sill combine them with some of Cathe's stuff . For example, on a low intensity day I will combine either Maximum Cardio Burn (or Super Cardio Sculpt) with the floor work of Legs and Glutes plus one or two segments for Upper Boddy Pyramid. I stoo do CAWT and Super Sculpting as stand alone workouts bot not too frequently. As far as the weight workouts go, with the exception of Super Sculpting, they are much less intense than Cathe's workouts. Same goes for Cardio. But these workouts are great for beginner/intermediate and as a transition into Cathe's workouts.

I still like the Firm. I got rid of almost all of mine, and then I started buying them back on Ebay. I need more variety. They are not as tough, but on low days, it gets me to work out. I ordered BSS3, as I read very good reviews on them, and I also read they are alot tougher than the last few sets they put out. We will see!!!!!

I still have a collection of about 15 Firm workouts, but haven't used them lately (with 200-ish workouts to choose from, I just don't get to them!) though I don't plan to get rid of them.

I do mainly the lower body workouts, and some of the "four-limbed-aerobics" workouts. The Firm's lower body workouts have given me abpit the best lower body results of any workout: especially those that combine standing work and floor work. (Hmmm...that's a good idea for today's workout!)

I also like them for days when I want to do cardio and weights in the same workout, and I like the way they alternate the two (though I'm not as impressed with the more recent Firm workouts, of which I have kept only two. And I had no interest at all in the BSS3, especially since you had to buy a whole new piece of equipment for it!)

I prefer the "middle-aged" Firms that date from around the time of Tortoise/Hare--which I no longer have--to the pre-"Body Sculpting System" workouts. Firm "Cardio" --aka "Strong Heart"--and "Strength"---"Strong..? " are two excellent workouts, IMO. Though parts of them have been used in so many other Firm compilation workouts that I got tired of them for a while. There are just so many times you can follow Heidi Tanner doing the same step aerobic moves without becoming bored.

I really like most of the music the Firm uses (which you don't hear over and over again on other workouts), and the way they choreograph each segment to a differnt song.

Yep... I agree with Kathryn. I still have 10 or so Firms and they are all the older ones (vol 1, 4-6, Strength, Cardio, Fat Blaster, TT, Standing Legs, etc). I don't do them often, but when I need a change of pace, just got back from vacation, add on, etc.. then I pull them out and am usually pleasantly surprised with their effectiveness again. I do get bored with them easily and Cathe is certainly my usual fare, but on occasion they serve a valuable purpose.

Enjoy the day!

Although I do mostly Cathe, I still find myself reaching monthly for Firm Strength, Firm Cardio, Hare, Tortoise, Super Sculpt. I have tons of them and every once and again, I will do Tough Tape, Tough Tape II, Upper Body, but these have been rare and lately I am all Cathe!

I have all the Firm tapes up to the BSS era. Most are gathering dust, but I still do:

Volume 6
5 Day Abs
5 Day Stretch
Firm Strength
Tough Tape
Cardio Step Mix
Tough Cardio Mix
Sculpted Buns, Hips and Thighs
Hare

Thanks for your input.

I still like the "middle-era" Firms like Super Cardio, Super Scupting, Upper Body Split, Lower Body Split, Core Cardio I, Bust & Butt (hate the name), Cardio Burn (more for the cardio than the weights); and earlier Firms like Firm Cardio & Firm Strength. And I hang on to Fat Blaster and some of the others for when I'm feeling sick. They were great for post-surgery, but I found that I only did them once each before I built back up again.

I've given most everything else away, but I still like those. I was just wondering if I would always use them, or if I would end up passing those up as well--once I got more Cathe's.

I sold most of mine as well, but I hung onto Firm Strength, Vol. 4 (Time Crunch) and Tough Tape 2. All of these still give me a good, enjoyable workout.

Had one or two Firm workouts before I found Cathe six years ago. Absolutely despised them and was getting frustrated with the whole video thang (I took classes at the gym and wanted to supplement them). I found them boring and "synthetic". (I don't want to offend any Firmies out there -- probably the ones I had were the worst of the Firm bunch -- I bought them at Blockbusters Video).

I remember one of them was "5-day Abs" with a Ken-doll introducing each ab section.

I ended up giving them away to anyone who would take them off my hands.

Now it's only Cathe and once in a while, Gin Miller's Intense Moves.

Firm #6

Got rid of the rest. I still do these 1x about every 2 to 3 months.

I still have some Firms. I have a couple that are in those hard shell clam cases that were packaged 'just for firm believers' that now are being sold for under $20.00. I guess I haven't gotten rid of them because I paid so x( much money for them. I may need to dust them off and use them on low intensity days as I haven't even viewed them in over 5 years ;(
Reading these responses ...I may just check them out LOL

I admit my favorite Firm is Super Cardio. I haven't done it in ages, but I don't want to get rid of it either.

:)

Still do old Firm videos Vol. 3,4,5 and 6. I also like the Firm Tortoise/Hare workout and the Tri Trainer. The newer Firms are not as hard but are much less strenous on the joints.
I like Fitprime and Tracie Long Productions as well. They are quite a challenge too. I encourage people to try those, although the production quality with Fitprime is not very good in my opinion. They feature all old Firm instructors and have tough workouts.

I occasionally do Standing Legs, Tortoise & Hare, Classic #1, and a few others I can't remember right now.

I enjoy them once in awhile, but the more workouts I get from Cathe, the less time I have to do other workouts.

I'll probably retire them some day.

vol 3-standing legs-5 day abs-super cardio-cardio burn-firm upperbody-cardio split- caloire killer2 and just bought bss3.
The firm really hits my legs like no other to me even leaner legs doesn't get me like standing legs and vol.3
