What's YOUR "Day Job"?

I'll bet you won't see this one much. Baptist pastor's wife!!! He tells them how to get to Heaven. I make sure they look fit when they get there.

Formally, before kids, was sales rep for "Aladdin." They are the folks who make lunchboxes, thermo mugs. I sold mugs to colleges with their logos on them. My yearly quota was $1,300,000 selling a product that cost $1.20 - $2.50 each. That's a lotta mugs and a lotta pressure. Now I'm a mom and pastor's wife. I act as church secretary, and substitute for any teacher or musician that's absent.

P.S. Have been known to go to Wednesday night prayer meeting sweatty -- sometimes very sweatty.

I don't post much, but I lurk around a lot. I am an investigator for a regulatory agency that regulates the securities industry. I basically investigate stock brokers (customer complaints against their brokers, and when brokers are terminated from a firm). It's a very interesting job, but can be very high pressure. I do enjoy what I do, when I'm not too stressed out! I'm married with one little girl who is 6! time flies!

Anyway, this is a very interesting thread and it's very cool to see what a diverse group we are with a common interest in fitness!

I'm a stay at home mom of three boys. This coming fall will be the first time that all of them will be in school full-time and I am hoping to finally get some projects done around the house and do some volunteer work.

Any possibilities of staying with the same company but go to a different department?

Hello Everyone :) !!! This is a great post. I just graduated from university and now work as a project manager for a consumer testing/product development research firm. Thank goodness for the CTX series, because time has not been on my side since graduating!!

Fascinating!!!

Hello,

Started out with Estee Lauder Cosmetics. Next, moved to Christian Dior as a resident make-up artist. Right now I work for Lancome Cosmetics.

RE: Fascinating!!!

I've loved reading all these posts! I'm a pediatrician by day and by night. My job is both busy, rewarding, sad, happy and challenging. A good work week for me is about 50 hours, which usually never happens. I love Cathe, but have to admit I often don't workout as often as I'd like. I'm joining a new practice starting in August and my hours will be much better. My husband and I close on our new house tomorrow. I cant wait to set up my first ever workout room and finally lose the last 10-15 lbs!!

Hi. I like this post, too! What an eclectic group!:)
I am a research nurse, and I coordinate clinical trials in preventive cardiology. And FYI, if anyone wants the bottom line in preventing heart disease, it's EXERCISE. :-jumpy I also do home health nursing part-time, and during the school year, I fill in at the nurse's office in my youngest son's school (on my afternoons off). My most important job, however, is being Mom to my 5 children.

Depends on time of year...

School counselor (middle school, now moving to high school)August through May.

This summer 'off' I am helping my husband open his own office.

24-7-365 I am a mother of 5 - ages 20,18,14,11,10 :-cool!!!

Hi. I am also fairly new to this site and "lurk" alot -- enjoyed the replies received.

I am an Executive Assistant for a very wealthy private investor (former owner of a major investment bank). Job can be very stressful and long hours. I have recently really committed to fitness and now get up at 4:15 to do cardio and still make my 6:17am train into the city. IF I get home by 7pm I will do some strength training (eg: this morning, cardio of wedding tape, tonight (if I can) all but legs and butt of MIS). Getting my CPR in two weeks with the hope of getting certified as a group fitness instructor. LOVE kickboxing! WISH I had more time though.

Well, too much said already... Bye all. K--

Before having my baby I worked in a doctor's office for two doctors doing LOTS of stuff (front office). Since having my little boy (2 years ago) I stay at home and do medical transcription work for the two doctors that I worked for in the office. So, Kelley, make that two medical transcriptions, huh? And both named Kelly/Kelley. I am married (almost 6 years), have two dogs and hope to start trying for another child sometime next summer!

I'm a college professor of French and Spanish (and am using my summer vacation to get back into exercising after a bit of a hiatus).

Like Annette, I too am a paralegal. Our practice consists of a lot of family law, dependency cases (the worst), estate planning and some criminal. Ditto to everything Annette said about the job description. The best thing about my job is my boss - he's a hoot with a very sarcastic sense of humor and he's generous with the bonuses!

I am a dice dealer in a casino. Before that I worked in offices as an administrative assistant. Wanted a change. Boy, did I get one.

It's a decent job. The hours are the worst. I have to work weekends and holidays. But I get to meet a lot of people and I don't have to take work home with me. In the casino world, if you take your work home with you, you get arrested.

Ooh boy, I've had quite a varied background, but presently I've been at a global communications - voice, internet, and telephone - company for over 5 years as a receptionist, then an Accounting Supervisor. This earns my main bread <g>. I kinda fell into it when the company was teeny tiny and grew with the company.

All the while doing this, I've been through grad school twice (and going back for Masters - yippee :) for Psychology and Social Work, with a minor in Children and Youth. I wish to ultimately work with mentally and emotionally disabled youth and sexual abuse victims. I've worked for a Domestic Violence/Sexual Abuse women's shelter, the Boys and Girls Clubs, and now a parent aide program through FIA. I love SW and wish to stay in it forever! Too bad I can't get rid of my main job yet (I'm in school for 12 months on the advanced track, so I'm stuck until I'm out). I keep saying that there's a divine plan for everything ;-)

I was a brick mason for 12 years along with a week end radio announcer career. I then did radio full time at a Christian Station that sold. Got married and now i'm a mom, volunteer youth director and help my husband run a full time Christian Rock station. www.wejustrock.com. I have a 16yr old daughter and a 3yr old daughter. I have to say that i'm new to this forum as about a week or two ago and seem to come back and read several times a day. It's nice to read and get much helpful work out advice. Thanks!!

Kerri :)

KERRI!! This is so ironic. My husband and I want to start a Christian Radio Station near Ann Arbor, MI (boy, they need one too) and we don't know where to start and how much money needed to start one! Oh please give us some pointers. Can I e-mail you?

Wow!

This is amazing. Kathryn: I was a french teacher.(No $$!!) In 1982, I got an MBA and have been a Manager of National Accounts selling flexible packaging for medical applications: if you see an IV bag in a hospital--I put it there, probably. "Sets, etc. (stuff you don't want or need to know about.) ;-)
I am also a certified fitness trainer with ISSA and substitute at our local club when I'm in town. I can't do it regularly because I travel the world...very lucky in my job.

I'm an editor at a large newspaper, currently working at the paper's bureau in Washington DC.

However, close to burnout and inspired by Cathe and my "other" job (i.e. working out), I just started studying for my ACE certification as a personal fitness trainer. I'm not sure what, if anything, I'll do once I get certified, but I'm considering combining the two interests and writing about fitness, in addition to any personal training work I could get.:)

I am an attorney and I work for a state agency conducting administrative hearings via telephone regarding entitlement to benefits. I really like my job except for the 2 hours a day I spend commuting! That will change sometime next month when I get to start telecommuting. I can hardly wait. I've been a Hearing Officer for the last 2 years. Before that I was an attorney in private practice and that I did NOT love.

My most important job though is MOM. Hubby and I have a 3 yr old toddler boy who is my little drill sergeant. He picks out which tape he and I are going to do and then he sits down to watch Mommy after the warmup!
