What's up with flip flops?

>Apparently not in Georgia (at least I think it was Georgia)
>where a public official is trying make wearing one's drawers
>past their butt illegal. While I agree with looks rather
>stupid I am appalled that someone feels compelled to waste
>their time quite literally being the fashion police.

Ha, yes, I caught that in the news. I agree--ridiculous.

LD, I'm sure those Adidas thongs have a sole that conforms to your foot, and are not the flip flops they sell in the drug store.

OMG I AM ROTFLMAO because today I've been wearing flip flops all day at the law office!!!!  }( :p

It's casual Friday and I was hot. Wanted to see if I could get away with it... :p :+

I hate flip flops unless I am wearing them to go get my toes done! If you walk around in them all day your feet get disgustingly dry and dirty!x( Yuk. Cannot imagine New Yorkers wearing them in those filth infested streets, their feet must be so gross.

Tim Gunn from the show Project Runway has a new book out in which he gives his "humble" opinion on women and style. He says we walk like elephants in them and none of us can avoid what he calls the "flip flop shuffle".:) So true, so true!

There are versions of the flip flop like the picture posted, but that isn't really a flip flop, more of a sandal I think.

Oh, Ame! Say it isn't so. :p

>OK - what brand are they, Miz Nance?

Ecco Performance Yucatan sandals. Awesome on the feet and they actually look cute with my tan shorts and capris. Why would anyone choose a flip flop over a sandal like this?? I'm just missing the boat on this one.

I agree 100%, tneah. (Except for the part about my sandals being flip flops! I posted the pic as an example of something that I think is more comfy and better structured than a flip flop.)

I also love flip-flops...in fact I wore them to the "official Cathe dinner" at the RT... quite frankly because:

1. I love flip-flops
2. they were comfortable
3. see #1
4. I was completely exhausted and would have worn my pj's to the rt dinner if I could have:+

There is definitely a time and place for flip flops, which were called thongs when I was a kid--a loooong time ago:) My DDs have lots of them, they are cool (as in keeping your piggies a nice temp ;-) and as long as you don't have feet problems, go for it. I do have to say, however, that the fad of wearing them to work is new. I think it's the whole thing of us becoming more informal in general. When I was in HS (OK, I will have to admit my age...50) the male teachers all wore ties and many wore suit coats and when we went to the airport to travel, my sister and I wore dresses and my bros wore ties. THAT was a lifetime ago:eek:

I am totally a flip-flop girl....when I'm off of work! At work, though, I'm all about the birkenstocks (closed toed of course!). I see people walking around the hospital hallways in socks and I just cringe!

What I don't get is the people you see wearing their fuzzy house slippers to the mall or the grocery store!

But, you're right, Nancy, there is a time and place for f-f and I don't think that the streets of NYC is one of them!

Oos! Sorry Nancy!:) I must have wrote that wrong, I meant to say that the picture of your shoes does not look like flip flop material! :)
The flip flip has a thingy between the toes and does not cover most of the foot, your shoe is a sandal right?

Funny story (well to me): I walk my dogs before work and I wear a pair of croc flip flops. Well these things are super comfie. Anyway, I got to work on Monday and as I stepped out of the car I looked down and what did I still have on  Yep, you guessed it. I went to work in my flip flops x( I normally change them right as soon as I get back, but for some reason I didn't. Fortunately DH was off and I called him and asked him to please bring me my shoes. He did, of course ;) To me it was like one of those dreams where you go to school naked or something LOL!!

Wow...Nancy you have hit on a hot button issue! 56 posts and counting! I just had to check this thread again to see if maybe someone had started posting about flip flops that have micro chips in them!!!!!}(

I don't know but I love my bright orange Clemson flipflops. And I really don't care what people think. It is hoooot in the south. I would wear them to church but I usually go at 8:00. If I go later on the day, yep gotta on. I do have a cute pair of black thong flip flops with pretty adornments on them I do wear for church though. But yep, flips are me!
