"Years ago, the club step that looks like mine (which says Step Co on it) was made by Reebok. My YMCA's steps like mine all say Reebok on them. They also have the black Reebok ones, but I don't like those as much."
I have the one that was made by Reebok. Teal with purple and grey risers. Very 80's, but I've had it for over 10 years now and I bought it used from someone and it's still perfect!
I have the Step company's studio step, which is a little shorter than the original Step. I have the same problem w/ scoops, V-steps etc., not being able to stretch out as much as I'd like.
I think I'm going to get the longer one, but I'm a little space-challenged too so we'll see how it works...

hahaha Annette, I have all those too, besides the Step and purple risers and High Step and black risers I mentioned above, I have the Transfirmer (I had two of the first wobbly ones that I got rid of, just one of the good ones), the plastic fanny lifter, a 14" wooden fanny lifter, a 10" fanny lifter, one of the Rubbermaid tool boxes that I used as a fanny lifter.
The only problems I ever had with any were the orignal wobbly firm transfirmers and the first plastic fanny lifter (I got rid of them and only kept the replacements.) http://www.picturetrail.com/barbarap
i had a Reebok Step that was long, but narrow (worked well for straddles with my short legs!). I loved it other than the limited height adjustment (6-10). I had that step for 20 years and it was still going strong! I sold it on Craig's List and got the newer Club Step because I wanted more versatility (inclines, 14" height, etc.) from it for weight lifting since I have no room for a weight bench. I'm hoping this one will last as long as my Reebok one has!
I hate it as well.
I don't even see what this one thinks it's going to accomplish, other than annoy people! (most of these spammy/advertising posts seem to be of Asian origin...maybe the same person?)
I have the original health club step with the high step topper, and I have about ten risers. I still like step as the best cardio workout, and running is also a favorite.
i'm cheap and new to using a step. thinking about buying the real thing. in the mean time i used a bunch of stuff around the house: puzzle mats, vcr box w/phone books in it, and wii board on top. at about 10in. high its pretty challenging. and adjustable.
I have the original club step (teal with purple risers) and a set of gray risers, a set of black risers and the high step topper. I use the Reebok step when I teach at the Y, but my knees and ankles lprefer the club step for its "bounce"
