What I LOVE about Cathe workouts

There is so much variety and they never get old. There is something for every fitness goal. And you can adjust to suit your schedule or how you are feeling on a given day/week. No matter what workout you do, you're working something in a different way. Cathe is always on the cutting-edge of exercise technology, but even her oldest workouts are still effective.

This week I'm trying not to get a cold. I feel okay, but don't want to push myself too hard and weaken my immunity (I have learned that lesson over and over again the hard way). So I pulled out CTX (always my go-to when I'm getting back into exercise after an illness or having to take time off). Doing a Cathe workout I haven't done in ages is so fun--like getting reacquainted with an old friend. And even though I did 4DS and running last week, I'm stiff today after doing Power Circuit yesterday. Your muscles are always being worked in slightly different ways with Cathe.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!:D
I love the fact that I can modify, mix and match, and get a BUTT KICKIN' workout everytime!!! For several weeks I've been modifying my routine to baby a bout of either plantar fasciitis or a heel spur (don't know what it is !), but I have managed to get some awesome workouts in and feel great!
BTW, if I feel a cold coming on I do an uber intense cardio workout (like Afterburn) to get my core temp up there and burn the little buggers out of me :p! Seems to work!

I like how she presents herself as an instructor. After doing different workouts on DVD, sometimes it's refreshing to deal with someone who isn't full of hype or trying to cheerleader you to death, or telling to X it or Beast up!

Cathe is very professional and it shows. I like Anthony DiLuglio as well and Lauren Brooks.

I agree! And it's weird, too. I have been working out for 10+ years using DVDs and I have gotten obessed with other types of workouts before (The Firm when I first started working out regularly, then Jari Love and TurboFire/ChaLean Extreme) but never like I am with Cathe's workouts. She literally covers all of the bases, almost all of her workouts are advanced, fun and so effective. I own so many other workouts (excellent ones, too) but I never even look at them or consider doing them since I discovered Cathe. I won't ever get rid of them, of course. I have this fear that one day I will get burned out on my Cathe workouts, and they will all still be there for me to fall back on if that happens. Though I just can't imagine that happening! I own so many Cathe workouts now and I always look forward to working out. I feel like even the ones I've done multiple times contain unexplored treasures in all of the wonderful premixes!

Too funny....I too am addicted to Cathe. I own every dvd...and am always wanting more....I get so excited when she comes out with a new program....and am like a kid at christmas when it is revealed.....waiting on the preorders to start!!!!

Looking forward to xtrain!!! Just can't wait!!! :D

I agree Cathe is addictive! I always want to tell everyone about her. But its hard to explain and if I try to show them they are like wow but wont get started cause there scared of her. Yhen I tell them about her low impact step or body fusion and basoc step and I started on loax. Lol but I would let yhem borrow but I simply cant. I used these alot when I dpnt feel lime working out but have to lol. And I have let people borrow other instructors tninking it would motivate, but they never use them, and I never get them back! I will not take that chance with my beloved Cathe. She is just to priceless to lose. I have some wo of hers that are to hard like IMAX 3 will I give it away? N to the O NO! Lol.

I feel like a hit the jackpot when I found Cathe. Not only has she taught me the value and benefit of strength training, but she has also shown me that the body is a remarkable vessel. I have proven to myself time and time again that I AM capable of so much more than I ever dreamed of. My body is healthy and strong, my confidence has soared, and my whole outlook on life has changed for the better. Discovering Cathe and her workouts has changed every facet of my life. I consider myself a better human being overall. For that I am truly grateful.

I agree with all of the comments. I could write a lot about this, but I'll sum it up with one word...RESULTS!!!

I'm new but I'm totally loving her too.

My only "issue" is the lack of ab work in most of the videos I have. I know that she has separate ab videos but I hate doing abs so will very unlikely put in another disc just to do abs.

How do others work around this?

Really? What DVDs do you have? I find the opposite to be true--she has a lot of workouts with long ab segments at the end. Particularly her strength workouts. I never worry about working my abs anymore because now that I do Cathe workouts every day, I know I will be doing core work 3 or more days a week.

I have found that the LIS series, CF, and TTM have great core work in them! I weave them in with STS, HR, STS TB, Pyramids, etc. and notice nice conditioning with this combination....I also enjoy the variety of plank work, stability ball work, etc. I'm not "ripped" but my core is definitely stronger and more defined.;)

I love that Cathe stresses form, pushing your body, respecting/listening to your body, and keeping it all fun without being "preachy." I've been working out with Cathe for nearly 10 years and it never gets boring. I can plug in any DVD, no matter how many times I've worked out with it, and learn something new about myself both physically and mentally. When I think back to my early days I am amazed at how far I've progressed physically.
Yes, my name is Bonnie and I am adicted to Cathe workouts. This IS the stuff people should get hooked on.

I have to ask this too, which workouts do you have that do not include ab work (besides STS Strength)? I'm going to put my 2 cents here and say traditional ab-work (crunches, sit-ups) are a thing of the past -- not to mention torture IMO. Working the core "plank-style" is something Cathe includes in all of her new workouts. There might not be a designated section for abs, but if you look at: Afterburn, Cardio Super Sets, Slide & Glide, just to name a few, all the plank exercises (mountain climber's, walking planks, plank jacks w/push-ups) interspersed throughout, ensure you are working your core -- actually you are working the entire body and not just abdominals. More bang for your buck! Also, if you want an entire workout that focuses on core, try Yoga 1X/week. Not traditional ab-work, but man is it EFFECTIVE.

Congrats on finding Cathe! Just to prepare you, I will suggest you open up a savings account strictly for Cathe purchases ;).

Natasha You have summed it up so well that It feels like you have taken words out of my mouth. The only difference is for me the confidence was non-existent. I mean it---- did not have any at all!!!
When i get complimented on my figure, without being pretentious, I almost, without showing it, get emotional!! I have come a long way!!
I wish I had discovered Cathe ages ago!!!

So true!!! I have invested A LOT of $$ in Cathe workouts and equipment since April (of this year). I actually think I am done until she comes out with a new workout. I bought one more today (yes! I have a serious mental problem!!!!!), but I really truly think it is the last one until she comes out with something new (after Xtrain, which I have already pre-ordered OF COURSE). I own almost every workout on DVD now. Not all of them tho. There are 9 DVDs I do not own and I truly think I can live w/out them.

Maybe I'm thinking about ab/core work wrong then. I have LIS bundle (tried Afterburn, LIC, Athletic Training, Turbo Barre (which does have abs) and Cardio Superset), Shock Cardio (haven't opened yet), High Reps (did once), STS (unopened) and STS total body (unopened).

I guess I wasn't thinking that all the planks and mountain climbers are abs. Hmmm....Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Yes, I do need a separate bank account and I only started at the end of Oct.

Where do I begin?!

I enjoy so much of Cathe's strength moves and routines. I love the fact that there are premixes on the dvd's. I'm one of the ones that had all of her VHS tapes and then bought all of her dvd's (try explaining that one to your husband!) Her moves are creative-firewalkers, roll-ins, crazy eights, ricochets, pendulums, etc. I also like the music she picks and always feel like I'm working out with someone who's enjoying it as much as I do.

As I've gotten older my workouts are becoming shorter and more time efficient. I pulled out the Timesaver DVD on Tuesday and did the leg routine. I had never done that one before and at about 45 minutes it was perfect!

Cathe motivates me to workout and at the same time to listen to my body and adjust accordingly. I'm ready to board the X train!

I really like the abs section on MMA Boxing! (part of Shock Cardio) and also Cardio Core Circuit is great for the core, too. The core sections of CCC are interspersed between the cardio intervals in that one. I really need to do CCC again soon...:p

FWIW, I truly think plank work is the best way to work the core! It has been so much more effective for me than crunches! :D
