What do you want for Christmas?

Cathlete
:D I would like to get a second scarf curtain for my picture window and also some new exercise clothes. A new pair of Ryka Isleums would be nice also! A couple of music CD's. A new home exercise gym would be nice also, but that certainly would be pushing my luck! What is on your Christmas list?

World Peace
Whirled Peas
Platemates (which I ordered for myself)
A Highstep topper (which I ordered for myself)
Pirates of the Caribbean on DVD (Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom - mmm)
A new purse
The gift of moderation

That's about it!

This is a goody...because I've been telling my husband for the past week that I want that blue top Cathe has on in the Legs and Glutes Video. Matter of fact, that's why I logged on here to see if I can find it and give him the information.

After being married for 15 years and have worn my grandmothers wedding ring (which has been just fine) all that time, DH decided it was high time I got one just for me!!! I'm really NOT a jewelry girl AT ALL - but I'm pretty excited. He wanted me to wear it early, but I said no....I'd be patient and wait for Santa to bring it! Can't wait to show my mom.

Hope all Catheites have a healthy, happy Christmas!!

Sami

1. an end to hostilities between Palestine and Israel
2. peace of mind
3. the gift of time
4. my husband to tell me he loves me every day
5. greater intellectual capacity
6. Tony Blair to back Europe and come back as the Prime Minister he was when we first voted him into office

these are the only things that matter, but....none of this is on the cards so I will graciously accept what my daughter Martha offered me as I kissed her goodnight last night: "I'll make your Christmas a special one Mum"

What a sweetie, gotta love her ;-)

Clare

Lovely, Sami! My parents were married for 54 years before my dad died. My mother had a plain gold band and it wore all the way through. I marvelled at that. Hers were the hands that tended us with such love and so much work she wore a golden band right through. Which leads me to Clare. 1-6 are great but that is so beautiful, a child's wish to give her Mum a special Christmas. That's a lovely child you have there. I have goose bumps! There is no "thing" that can come close to that!

I like Jilly's 1 and 2! Clare's # 1 would be first on my list too.

And an 8 pound medicine ball!

I already have everything in my life I could ever want. Peace to all this holiday season!!!

All of the above choices for peace and harmony are mine also. The gift of time is the best, Clare. We don't ever think about how important that is - but if you live in the moment, that moment can feel like heaven. Now that I'm done being serious, I'd like to open my BB DVDs which have been hidden in my house for the past two weeks so my kids can give them to me for Christmas. Other than that, any heartfelt gift would be wonderful. Alexis

I want for Christmas is a 51" tv on sale at RC Willeys LOL if not I would love to help a family out for christmas and looks Like I get to do that. There is a family at my hubby's work that needs help real bad so we are going shopping this week to lend a helping hand!.
Also what I would love for Christmas I know I will NEVER get is to have my kids actually go a whole day without arguing or fighting LOL

Oh, yes! We have to take our donations to the drop off place and that includes loading up all the kids to remind them that the joy of Christmas is in the giving. But that means having all three of them in close proximity in the car! Shot gun, shot gun shot gun! Not THAT radio station! She touched me!

"Do I have to come back there?" "I'll pull this car over!" "I'll open a can of whoop a.., I mean, Christmas joy right here and now!"

This time of the year can be so sad. For all the joy and the goodness it brings out, there are so many people who must be made to feel small and unloved by the excesses that go on. When I was a child, my parents made a wonderful Christmas for us and it was magical! My kids would be appalled by the few gifts that my parents worked so hard to provide! Yet we were happy and my memories are not of the things but the laughter and the noise of 15 people making merry! My heart goes out to the lonely, the sorrowful, the innocents who are abused. My hope is that we can all do better. That we can make some changes to bring them into the fold. Then peace would come, I know it would! Peace on earth, good will toward men, companionship, love and ENOUGH so everyone can live a life that knows no hunger, that knows as little sorrow as possible and we can feel connected to each other, not separated by religion, by nationality or race or any of the myriad things that keep us from coming together and connecting with our hearts!

I read thru all these posts and found some truly wonderful wishes. I wanted a DVD/VCR player. Found a great buy on one, so I had to get it early...now if I just had those 2 Cathe DVD's I ordered...:) . Hope the last week before X-mas goes well for everyone!..Carole

I want a Fitness Ball, a Wavemaster (punching bag) and a DEEP FRYER for Christmas.

Anbody knows if Safflower Oil is good for deep frying?

Carole, will they arrive in time for Christmas? Isn't waiting for Cathe's workouts painfully long? The UPS truck pulled up at my neighbors house and my heart jumped. Then I reminded myself I received mine and they are the best birthday gift ever! But we can start anticipating next year's workouts, can't we? :)

A gift certificate for laser hair removal of ALL the hair on my legs.

But we no longer do gifts in my family, and maybe that's the greatest gift of all? It all got to be too much, and over the years it just slowly dropped off. We're all older now, and it got harder and harder to find things for people that they didn't already have. I love not having to fight the crowds in the stores and on the streets!! I feel so liberated!

So, I'll have to get the lasering for myself. Maybe for my birthday.:)

Here's the "skinny" on the smoking points of oils. The higher the smoking point, the better it is for deep frying.

Consumer Guide Summary:

Another really good way to reduce smoke from burning cooking oils is to choose your oils carefully, so you cook with oils that can handle high heat without smoking. For example, refined avocado oil can be heated to just under 500 F before smoking, while unrefined safflower oil will smoke when heated to just under 225 F.

Below is a chart adapted from research published by oil manufacturer Spectrum Naturals, that gives the smoke point of many oils. Try to never heat oils to their smoke point. Even if you do get a stove hood, using the right oil for the right heat is important.

Below 212 F
--Cooking Methods
Boil, steam, scald, stew, simmer, steep, parboil, salad dressings
--Oils You Should Use
Unrefined canola oil (smoke point is below 225 F)
Unrefined flaxseed oil (smoke point is below 225 F)
