What Do You Do For A Living?

THANK YOU, Nancy! I'm sure everyone here appreciates what you said about how important it is to take care of yourself for your quality of life later on, since we're all addicted to working out! I wish the rest of the American public would listen!! I can't count the times I took care of someone near my age or even younger who was already such a mess, and all because of their unhealthy lifestyle habits!! I honestly think that's part of why I'm now so focused on maintaining my weight, eating right, and working out. I saw first-hand for 18 years what the effects of not taking proper care of yourself can do, and I do NOT want to be there.

I don't consider your post a "lecture" at all!! You are so right about everything you said!!

Hi!!

I just graduated with my MS/CAS in school psychology and was just hired as the school psychologist for a very rural middle/high school in central ny. I completed my internship there and loved it so I'm very excited to be employed there! I am also a registered play therapist and practice privately part-time. While I'm not married yet (I'm 25), I have steady bf with plans to get married in november/december 2005. I also work for an adult developmental agency during the summers as a habilitation specialist, but I plan to stay at home during the summers when/if we decide to have children (which will NOT be for at least 4-5 years:)

It's been great reading about all of you highly intelligent people!

Hi!

I was a SAHM when my first child was born, but just before he turned one, I started a bulk mail company with my sister-in-law. We thought a little extra guilt-free shopping money would be fun. Well, 6 years later, a second child, and a third on the way, my business has turned into a monster and I'm wondering if it's all worth it. I get so much satisfaction from owning my own company and watching it grow, but there was nothing like those early days in the business when I could pickup and go on a whim and really feel like I was there for my children. They are home with me (well, my son will be a 1st grader this year) but it's not the same as it was before I had so many obligations. It's all about balance, and we're in the process of making many changes to the business in hopes of achieving more balance.

Thanks for the fun thread.

Stacey

Sara-
Sounds great!

I have a question for you: are you typical of people your age in thinking ahead about marriage and children? I ask because I have a 26-yr. old stepson who already has his whole life planned out and I was wondering if he's typical or much more serious than others his age? When I was your age, no one was getting married and not that many even knew yet what they wanted to do with their careers. Just curious as to where he fits in. Thanks!

Hi! I am an RN. Have been for 33 years...Wow, I get a hot flash just typing that. Anyway... I discovered Cathe about 4 years ago, since doing the Firm. What an amazing difference. I feel sad. My Firm tapes just sit here. There are ONLY so many you can pick from, and if my workout is going to be meaningfun in wayway...well, it's Cathe. Being an RN since 1973...it's been wonderful...no I have not obtained riches monitarily...but...have managed to stay employed, raise two kids without them in total childcare, now only to still work four days a week for retirement and vacations! I'm glad I did it. I love working with all the different cultures in my area, the children, etc. Always problems, and the then, always solutions. Be a nurse! Dianne:)

I am a full-time exercise backslider....

Wife and mom get first priority. Then - part-time attorney (after 13 years its just a little bit boring!)

My next big love is - the European PTA. We have over 45,861 children in DOD schools in Europe (from Iceland to Bahrain) and we're trying to give them access to quality English-language programs, reading materials, and activities. We are also trying to serve other populations - homeschoolers, American children in local and international schools, special education and preschool populations. So that, and supporting the children whose military loved ones are in far away, dangerous places - and those who aren't ever coming back from those far away places....

I'm a dental hygienist and will finish my Master's degree in Health Education on next Monday - then I can really focus on me. I'm really good about working out but my diet has been lacking - food has been a great stress reliever!

I am an information systems security engineer supporting the Department of Defense. I get a ton of blank looks when I tell my co-workers that I workout to videos. They think I'm nuts.

I am a public health professional working in HIV/AIDS research. I do this part time, plus I'm in school working on a Master's in Public Health, and mother of 3 yr old twin boys. Needless to say, I (sadly) never seem to have enough time to work out!

I'm a Certified Nurse Midwife and Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer- although I'm not doing either one actively right now. I work full-time as a Clinical Nurse Educator in a hospital (doing inservices for the ob and nursery nurses, teach CPR, etc). I'm also 4+ weeks pregnant with my first child so I'm glad to finally get to use my professional knowledge in a personal way!

I'm an engineer working in a construction company. I'm currently taking part time classes for my Master of Engineering degree. I have an 11-month old baby boy who is so full of energy :) Keeping up with him is a workout in itself! I usually workout late at night when my boy is sleeping.

Hi! I am a full-time first grade teacher in PA. I love it. I just earned my M.S. in Spec. Ed, so I may pursue something in early childhood spec. ed. some day down the road.

Hi Nancy324,

Not Sara obviously, but I figured I'd chime in.... I'm 22 and I got my BS in Business Administration concentration in Accounting. My boyfriend (25) and I plan on getting married next year. We don't plan on having kids for a few more years. He owns a barbershop, and like I said earlier, I'm an auditor. That's not what I plan on doing for the rest of my life (too, too many hours) but I do plan on staying in the accounting field. Most of my friends who are around my age pretty much have their lives planned out also so I don't think your stepson is alone....
