What about a nutrition forum?

Hi Cathe -

I love your workouts and you kick my butt for at least an hour 5 days a week. Because of your workouts, I haven't gained weight in several years and am able to pretty much eat what I want.

However, I certainly am not at my ideal weight. My ultimate focus is on being healthy and not skinny but I would like to drop 10-15 pounds and I know that the only way for me to do it is to change my nutrition. For the most part I know what is healthy and what is not, but when I start looking closely at food labels, it gets confusing trying to figure out which product is the best. Many sources that give nutritional information won't mention specific names of specific products. Are there any websites that you or others could recommend that have exceptional and product-specific information?

I was also wondering if maybe a nutrition forum would be possible. I would love to hear what small changes other people have implemented that have made a big difference for them. For example, how do others deal with cravings? What is the best liquid to replace diet sodas with that is sweet but isn't loaded with artificial sweetners? What are some tasty, healthy and filling snacks? What is the best kind of bread to buy? What are some simple and healthy recipes that would also appeal to kids?

What is a typical nutritional day for you?

Just wondering...........Thanks for the incredible workouts Cathe!!

What a great idea! I get lots of information and ideas from all over this forum, but it would be nice to have one area dedicated to nutrition. Afterall, nutrition is such an integral part of overall health.

I would love a nutrition forum.
I consider myself a low-intermidate/advanced exerciser, but I could use to lose a few lbs.

I would also love a nutrition forum!!!!! Maybe about a year ago people would post on the general forum what they were planning to eat that day (or what they did eat the day before) and I loved reading those posts - it was always really healthy clean meals and I got a lot of good ideas about getting the most nutritional bang for your calorie buck, and about planning meals. I've also been intrigued about various popular eating plans, cleansing programs, vitamins, etc., that people have discussed on the forums.

I wonder if the moderators might not want to have a nutrition forum for liability reaons (if someone posted about a nutty new unbalanced diet or something), but they could just have a disclaimer at the beginning that they were not offering advice, just allowing people to discuss nutrition, and that we would all agree to abide by that. (Can you tell I'm a paralegal? Always looking for ways the other side might throw up roadblocks to a good idea LOL...)

I'd also love to see a forum where people could post recipes, but that's a different topic :)

Oh I don't think it's a different topic, I think it would fit right in. :)

I would love to see a Nutrition Forum -- for information on everything food (additives, preservatives, herbs, whole foods, healthy recipes ...)

I think this fabulous group would be a wealth of information & great recipe ideas. :)

A nutrition forum is a great idea. I wonder if Cathe will do it though- someone could take her advise(or someone who posted) and use it as fact and have a problem and that could cause legal issues. I hate to be the wet blanket:( but just my thoughts.
If I'm wrong, I'd love a nutrition forum!!

Even if there is no specific nutritional forum, we've discussed these topics in the Open Discussion forum. Feel free to post specific questions there. Lots of us like to talk about nutrition.

I would LOVE this idea!! I am fairly new to Cathe's workouts and I am trying to lose about 20lbs. I know that nutrition is extremely important to weight loss...almost carrying a heavier weight in the "workout/food intake" ratio. I have tried searching for nutrition topics because I love reading ideas from other people (some peope are SOOOO creative!!).

Another vote for this wonderful idea!! :9

this would be a great idea!! It would give us a better idea of how people eat and see what works for others.. I really need help in this area!!! I read, but do not post on the VFer forum, I know that talking about diet is against policy over there, so I know that this forum is where I am getting all of my wisdom :) :)

Count me in too! I struggle with eating enough to fuel the intense workouts I do all week and I think it finally has backfired not to mention I am struggling with the Big M too! I would love to read ideas/tips that others have to offer.
