We're in this together

Taking a short break from my yard work.

This morning was STS Disc 27 Shoulders, Biceps & Triceps. Went really, really light on shoulder work. Average on Biceps & Triceps and tried to work the negative. And again since I was going with light weights I skipped all the rests making it a giant set workout.

I love that picture!! Sure hope I get to meet you both someday:)

I did CCV5 on my spin bike and I could swear Coach Sean was right in the room with me. These new headphones are da-bomb! I can't believe what I was missing. The cord has a volume control and a device that works as a microphone with the iPhone and will pause/forward/reverse on an iPod.

Linda- I dread all the yard work I have to do. Fortunately, it has been raining so I get put it off for another day;) How did your shoulder handle the workout today?

Catherine- DH has the Bose headphones & earbuds and really likes them. I had a sony pair that were better than the crap that comes with the iPod but they can't compare to the Jaybirds. Hope you are doing OK with more hours at work. I'm really hoping for some good news for you on your next dr. appt.

Catherine- LOL..you don't need Jaybirds if you have the Bose pair;) What have you been up to this weekend?

Linda- I did the Bosu workout "Burst" with Mindy Mylrea. It was OK but she is annoying and kept saying how "this is probably the hardest workout you've ever done". Well, it wasn't but at least I still felt worked out.

No luck getting any yard work done this weekend as it has been so windy that spraying weeds, laying down fertilizer and power washing the deck would be impossible:confused:

Catherine - How ya doing?

Judi
- The jaybirds sound cool, I'm jealous!;)

I am back from the doctor's this morning. As many of you may know I have suffered from my hands & forearms going numb when I sleep for many years, well about four weeks ago it stopped and I was one happy clam. But now all the yard work on Friday has made it return so the they are sending me for an EMG on Monday (that's where they stick you with needles.) They will also be scheduling an MRI. Then I will return to the Doctor for the results.

This morning was STS Disc 17 Triset Legs again I didn't use over 40# and I skipped all the rests. (and it was still hard:p) My stupid shoulder is aching like mad today!:(

UGH! My workout this morning sucked:mad: I'm starting the final 4 weeks of P90X and had chest & back on tap. I struggled through the whole workout like it was the first time I ever did it. My pushups and pullups numbers were pathetic compared to my numbers before the recovery week. WTH?! Sorry to whine but it really pissed me off. Then I come upstairs after to find the dog had puked all over the kitchen. Grrrrrr....not a good way to start the day.

Linda- Bummer about the numbness returning to your hands & arms. Is it possible you have some inflammation that is pinching a nerve? So glad you are getting an MRI and soon will have answers to your pain.

Catherine- How have you been doing? Has the pain gotten any better? I hope you get some good news from your test results when you see your doctor this week.

Linda, I remember you talking over the years about your pins and needles stuff in the arms. I am glad you are getting the tests done. I will keep you in my prayers. I hope you get some relief soon. I know all to well how frustrating it can be.

Judi, I can not believe you are finishing up your P90X rotation soon. So what's next?

I feel like I've had some very subltle improvements. It's so hard to tell because my evenings and nights are so bad. I'm just looking forward to seeing my doc on Wed to discuss results and what (if anything) I should do next. I think he's the man with a plan :D I am keeping my hopes up.

After my "not so stellar" workout yesterday, I needed to push myself today so instead of PlyoX, I did HIIT 40/20 followed by 30/30. It was tough especially since I haven't done much HIIT type workouts in awhile. I'm pretty sore today...it is amazing how muscles forget so quickly. It was almost like starting all over again from the beginning.

What are you ladies up to today?

Catherine - Yea for improvements. You must be excited about tomorrow, to get the results AND hopefully a plan! I will prayer extra hard for you tonight & tomorrow!

Judi - Wow to Hiits back to back. I have to admit I am pretty much done after one.

When the numbness started a few days ago I restarted taking Celebrex, and guess what...no numbness! Don't know if it just a fluke or perhaps the numbness is inflamation related. Because it disappeared four weeks ago during a 9 days course of Celebrex. More good news is I have doms from my leg workout yesterday but not the kind that I can't walk. :D This morning was HiiT 30/30 I considered 40/20 but didn't think my legs were quite up to it,maybe later in the week.

I woke up at 2:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. So I am completely exhausted  I am excited and nervous to see the doc tomorrow. I'll let you all know as soon as I can. Appt is at 10:30 am.

Linda, interesting assessment on your numbness and the celebrex. When are your tests scheduled?

Judi, nice job with Hiit 40/20. That one looks like so much fun!

Catherine- UGH! Being up since 2:30?! No wonder you want today to be over with. Keeping good thoughts for your appointment tomorrow!

Linda- Glad to hear you got relief from the numbness. Do you ever ask "Why" we have these issues come up when we workout to keep ourselves in good shape so we don't have issues?! Did that make sense?

Catherine - Wow no wonder your tired today up since 2:30. Sending good vibes your way for a great appointment tomorrow. My EMG is scheduled for Monday. I am still waiting to hear when the MRI will be. Last night my shoulder ache so bad when I went to bed for a second I actually wished I had taken the doctor up on his off of pain meds. It better today though.

Judi
- I do ask "why" but then I also realize it has probably been some of the stupid stuff I do when I workout that has caused this.:p

This morning I did Pyramid Upper Body Pyramid Up Premix. used 15,20,25 for chest & back, except I subbed straight arm lat pulldowns for the pullovers using different tension bands, matched Cathe 3,5,8 for shoulders, used 12,15,20 for biceps, and used 10,12,15 for triceps. Shoulder is not happy today.

My workout went better this morning and I forced myself to up the weights on many of the exercises. Thank goodness for plate mates! Finished up with ab circuit weights/plates.

Linda- Nice job on PUB....sorry your shoulder is not happy.

Catherine- Thinking of you and hoping your doctor appointment went well.

Hey ladies. My appt went ok. The myelogram was normal which means there is nothing pressing on the nerve/nerve root. That's good news. The nerve is just still irritated and they apparently heal very slowly. The doc was encourgaged that I had made even subtle improvements and seemed to think that was a good sign. We talked about options for down the road but for now he really wants to see how I do with my neurontin and a bit more time. I asked specifically about epidurals and he didn't want to go there right now. I was hoping for a quick fix but I do trust him and give that I am making some baby steps forward will give it time. He also told me I should stay active doing things like walking, swimming or elliptical. And he said it would be ok to do some light wts 3-5 pounds as long as I was very careful. Of course that excited me.

BTW, do either of you have a suggestion for a good elliptical. I know have an excuse for another piece of exercise equipment

Linda, sorry your shoulder is not behaving :(

Judi, glad your were able to up your wts!! Yay for progress :D

Catherine- That is encouraging news! So glad to hear he recommends staying active and even lifting isn't out of the question. Heck, after my rotator cuff surgery, I was excited when I got to start lifting a tuna can:confused: Just take it slow and easy.....you'll be back before you know it!

I have an Octane Q45E elliptical and love it! Wasn't cheap but it fit my body and gate perfectly. It doesn't ramp up but I wasn't interested in that. The resistance goes up to 20 and the most I've done is level 13 which felt like I was pushing a tank across the floor.

Cardio day for me so I did Athletic Step and Step Moves. I really hope Cathe goes back to longer workouts because I just don't feel worked out enough doing only one. Being the anal person that I am, I need to burn at least 400 calories to feel like I got a good workout. Maybe I need to retrain my brain that more isn't necessarily better:rolleyes:

Catherine- Have you started your search for ellipticals? I would highly recommend that you try as many as you can in the stores as they can all have a different feel.

Linda- How is your shoulder doing today?

Catherine- Have you started your search for ellipticals? I would highly recommend that you try as many as you can in the stores as they can all have a different feel.

The problem with that is there are no local stores that sell that sort of thing and I can not tolerate the drive to the nearest store :(

Judi, you could always do AS x 2 if you don't feel worked out after 1x :p

Linda, what did you do today??

Catherine - Glad you got an encouraging report and the okay to lift some weights. Sorry I don't have any recommendations on an elliptical, I've never even been on one.:p

Judi - I wish Athletic Step & Step moves were longer, but one HiiT for me is more than enough. Matter of fact I did 40/20 today and I was ready to be done by the end, I also stopped wearing my HRM, so I guess I am less obsessive.:D

Shoulder feels pretty good today, was burning when I went to bed last night.:(

This morning I tried Jari Love's Ripped 1000. All I can say is it was kind of weird. Way to much time between cardio & weights spent stretching I like to keep the HR up. Tricep work was almost non-existent , 32 reps of overhead extension with a 5# db? And Jari comes across to me like she is trying to be sexy, no thanks.
