You, Darieus, are one awesome DH! Thanks for updating us - please tell her I am sending all sorts of healing vibes for a speedy recovery her way and of course, prayers for you both. I missed the original post but went back and reread. What a scary couple of days and unpleasant few weeks. Sounds like thankfully, all will now be resolved and she can get to feeling better.

It is so great of you to come here and bring your wife's Cathe Nation friends up to speed on what's going on. I am so pleased everything's come out well and look forward to more good news as your DW heals. Thank you so much for updating us all and please tell her we're wishing her a speedy recovery :).

Hello, I am Darieus Belinda's DH. Her surgery was delayed from eleven o'clock last night, they did her surgery at twelve noon today. She was under for an hour and a half. They found a few issues and repaired them all. All of her sinus cavities were infected, they found some abnormalities in the cavities that had to be reshaped. They also straightened her septum. After all of this dramatic work things are looking good. She put us through quite a scare. This has been a three week process. The good news is that there was no infection to her brain (the primay concern). She is in her room and had a meal before I left the hospital. She looks great, and the doctor says she is doing great. Belinda can't wait to get back to her workout.

I want to thank all of you for your concern and warm notes. Darieus, better known as bayerngirls DH!

Belinda too sends her thanks for all of your prayers.

Darieus -- thank you so much for letting us know her status! And it certainly sounds like she is very fortunate to be cared for by you!!!

Give her a big kiss and hug from us!!! Get healed quickly!!!

xx, Denise :)

Yes, thanks for the update! I'm so glad she came through the surgery well. I'll keep her in my prayers for a speedy recovery. I'm glad that is all behind her now.

Great!

I hope she finds, as I did, that her sinus miseries or completely or mostly eliminated! It's terrible to live with those chronic infections -- they really wear you down.

I hope her recovery is smooth. Lots of rest, lots of support, and lots of good wishes from me! :)

Thanks so much for the update Darieus. Give Belinda a hug for me and tell her I wish her a speedy recovery!

Hi ladies,

Darieus and I, want to thank everyone for your prayers , well wishes and kind words. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your support.

Most of you probably don’t know what happened, so here it goes. I got really sick after CCPP last month (loved every minute). My nose started to get stuffed that day, so I figured it’s was just allergies , no big deal. I thought it would clear up after my run. I ran over 5 miles that Saturday, my best run ever. LOL! I couldn’t breathe through my left nostril the next day. I saw my doctor on base on April 1, he gave me meds for allergies. Next day I had lots of nasty stuff coming down my left nostril; at this point I knew it wasn’t allergies. Went back to my doctor, this time he took x-rays, my left sinus cavities were blocked. He sent me home with antibiotic and more meds. After almost finishing the antibiotics, I still didn’t feel any better than I did April 1, he took more x-rays. He wanted me to see an ENT doctor, which I did the same day. I saw one in Weiden, he than shoved some long needles up my nose, broke the bone in my nose and drained the infection. He called it a nose rinse! That was painful and very uncomfy. German doctors don’t believe in a lot of pain killers. A few days later I was so frustrated because I still couldn’t breath through my left nostril and still didn’t feel better.

Now we are talking like 3 weeks not breathing through my left nostril. Between my nose and my left eye I felt a swelling. In the mean while my DH went to the states for a week, that week I still couldn’t breath. Two weeks ago I went every day to my doctor and the ENT doctor in Weiden. On April 17, the ENT doctor wanted to go in again and flush the infection out (he called it a nose rinse), I said HELL NO, you aren’t gonna do that twice.:p He was getting worried about the infection, so was I. He also told me to see a dentist sometimes that can cause an infection. That day I came home from the ENT, called the dentil clinic here on base. I told them I had an sinus infection for over 3 weeks, they told me to come in right away. I had two dentists; one was specialists who check out my teeth and gums. I was hoping they would find something, both doctors couldn’t find anything, not even a little hole. My doctor here on base wanted me to see the ENT clinic in Regensburg (another town, and another specialist).

I wanted to wait until my DH was back from the states. He came back Saturday and over the weekend my right nostril started to get blocked. Now I couldn’t breathe through both nostrils. I told DH I needed to go to the clinic, I couldn’t take it anymore. I figured maybe I have been taking the wrong meds and that was the reason why the infection wouldn’t clear up. Well DH and I drove to the clinic, they ran a scope from my right nostril down to my throat (that was a lot of fun!), at this point (I didn’t care anymore what they shoved down my nose, as long as they could figure out why the infection wasn’t going away. I was afraid the infection was spreading in my brain (you can die from this). The doctor also ordered a CT scan. When I saw the Professor (he is head of ENT for the University Hospital) he told me I needed surgery that night. I went from a routine appointment to getting admitted. My luck, they had life threatening surgeries that night, they asked me if it was ok for them to do the surgery around 2 or 3 am, I was like I wanted the doctor to be awake not half asleep. LOL! This was my first surgery! I was told they do surgery around the clock.

I admit I was terrified to get surgery in a German hospital; I have to say everyone was so nice. And no I didn’t get any happy pills! LOL! I had a happy shot instead. LOL! I guess it’s different in Germany? After they gave me the shot, I took 3 breaths from a mask and I was out like a light. I was glad the doctor didn’t tell me before surgery what they had found in the CT scan, he told me after the surgery that they found malformed sinuses that needed to be re-shaped. They also had to shift my septum. The good news was that the infection had not reached my brain sack. That was my biggest concerned. I am still bleeding out of my left nostril and still have some swelling, which is normal for a few more days.

If anyone out there ever has similar symptoms please have your ENT doctor take a CT scan, I had way too many x-rays taken the past few weeks. I am surprised I am not glowing in the dark! LOL! In the future I know what to ask for instead getting shoved and poked in my nose for weeks. LOL! It still puzzles me why the ENT doctor (he does surgery too) in Weiden didn’t do a CT scan? My military doctor (family practice) isn’t too happy about that. I am still on a lot of medication to keep the swelling and infection down; I am tired of taking antibiotic. Today I have to go back to the clinic for a check up. I am so happy to be home!

I haven’t worked out in a very long time, can’t wait to get back to my workouts. I am hoping soon! I was 2 month into the 6 month STS rotation, unfortunately, since I haven’t done any workouts in weeks I have to start the 6 month rotation all over again. The good news is that I haven’t gained any weight, I am very happy for that. In the hospital I was on soft food (lots of carbs) for day’s.

Again, from the bottom of my heart thanks for all your prayers! You ladies are truly amazing.
