The question

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - Yuk

But yes, I'd wait too.

I'd be too terrified of it getting wrapped up in my wheels somehow then what would I do?:-(

You know, I have actually run over a snake. It was a complete accident. It was a black snake and I thought it was a branch on the driveway and didn't reallize what it was until I actually drove over it and reallized it didn't feel the same way a branch should feel.

Well, I only guess it survived - in my rearview mirror, I saw it slide away. Maybe I killed it in the long term.

Sigh.

   I think I might be sick...Bill, you should have warned us!!I am terrified of slithering things, especially snakes, I cannot even write the word without wanting to scream.:p

Lol!

"Bubba, how did you get our of your cage!!!"

Sorry guys, I'll keep better tabs on him next time!

So funny -- just one day last week I was driving home and saw a snake in the road and just without thinking straddled it so I wouldn't crush it. As soon as I was on top of it I thought "oh rats, that might have been a rattle snake -- I should have squished it!". Sorry to all of you snake lovers, but I have kids who like to run in the grass and we have tons of rattle snakes.

Beth - I have little love for rattlers and wouldn't want any near my yard either. I do try to educate everyone around here (my home) though not to kill the black snakes if possible since they actually kill rattlesnakes and copperheads, which we do have too. I'm always hearing about my parents' neighbors offing black snakes in the woods when in reality the black snakes are the only thing keeping the copperheads away. Sorry, for the off subject rant. ;)

Oh, and you guys would have to wait a LONG time for that snake to move. He's sunning himself on that road and could hang out for HOURS. Here's one of my babies (Aloysius) doing the same thing:

p.s. Aloysius would now need the entire bed to sun himself. I really need some updated pics... He's a baby there.

Holy Cr@p! I'd turn around. :) I am fascinated by snakes and like to hold and touch them but at the same time I think I have a "healthy" fear of them or perhaps I should call it a respect. I am not skeeved by them at all but would keep my distance from ANY snake in the wild and would definately be a bit nervous holding one (a pet) for the first time. I used to work at a pet store and would take out the smaller snakes to "play" with them.

Liann: What kind of snake is that ^^^^?

My answer is: Scream like a girl and turn around and find another route!

And "oh my" Liann on YOUR pet. I think it creeps me out worse to see that picture of a snake on A BED!!!!! *shudders*

Wow! This reminds me of something happened to me and my running group 2 summers ago. (Where was this taken?) We were trail running, but happened to be on one of the service roads, and I did not have my glasses on. I was ahead of the group and saw, what I thought, a large stick laying across the road. One of the guys who runs the area all the time started yelling to me to STOP, STOP, STOP! He always freaks about snakes and I couldn't believe that what I was seeing was a snake....until I got almost on top of it. There was about 5 or 6 of us, and everyone was freaking out. It was HUGE and long. The snake did not move. We walked around it and I think someone took a stick and poked it to see if it would move. Which it did not. I kept looking back to see if it moved and it hadn't. I wonder if you made enough noise it would move. I know when we were all around it, it didn't seem to even notice us. (we saw his tongue moving, so we knew it was alive.)

Could you drive over a snake that big and not kill it?

Wendy - Aloysius is a Suriname Boa Constrictor. He was maybe 2 1/2 feet there. He's now closer to 6' and full grown. He's like a puppy dog, but I still treat him with a LOT of respect due to his size and of course the dogs and the piggies are not allowed near him.

Chris - LOL!

WOW!
I'd wait and watch, then go.

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

OMG I really thought it was some kind of speed bump. So, if I saw it quickly enough, I would wait... or reverse!!
