The "NO DIET" checkin

Wow! I actually did better than I usually do on the weekends! Must have been the conscious effort since we are checking in! I still had my fast food for lunch on Sat and Sun, but I only had one relatively bad breakfast instead of 2. I made banana muffins on Saturday, but had my usual breakfast on Sunday and I cooked clean for dinner both days. My biggest baddie was that I had the urge to bake this weekend, so I made Peppermint Pattie Brownies! Yummy! I am not eating 4 at a time! That's progress! My DH is helping me out a lot with these!

On the plus side, I didn't really pick up more than 2 pounds over the weekend, but I think most of that is due to the fact that this is that week!

Today has been great! My usual breakfast, Chiobani plain non-fat yogurt with wheat germ and raspberries. Lunch was an almond butter and honey sandwich (I only have that once in while) on multi-grain bread. I skipped my snack - a banana - because I just wasn't hungry and dinner was leftover chicken with peppers, brown rice and I steamed some fresh green beans and carrots.

I also did a CC interval run after work tonight, plus 1 mile steady state run and a 1 mile walk!

Morning all! How are we all doing?

I did fairly well on the weekend. Saturday went great, Sunday so/so. I made a really good meatloaf last night for dinner and I planned on that being my lunch for the week. When I was trying to drain the grease from the loaf pan the damn meatloaf fell out and landed on my floor! I was so pissed. It went everywhere. I was only able to save about two servings, that was the only portion that stayed in the loaf pan. Talk about frustrating. There were some majorly bad words coming out of my mouth. I scared the crap out of my kitty. And it was the best meatloaf I ever made. I will definitely make it again. I got the recipe out of Cooking Light.

Anyways, hope you are all doing well!

Oh no!!!!!!! Debbie, I am LMAO & feeling for you at the same time. I can't count how many times I've done something similar, except I usually have a mad scramble of pugs trying to scarf it up.

Yesterday I did well until last night--fell asleep on the couch & I woke up & ate half a bag of Reese's (BTW, have you heard Reese's is making dark chocolate PB cups now?). I have 2 three day w/es in a row so I will not torture myself trying to diet, but after I need to get through at least 3 w/es without a cheat. I'm with you Linda--something has got to give & I think I need to eat super clean for at least a month to drop the 6-7 lbs I want to get rid of.

Debbie - Sorry for your ordeal. For my second date with DH, he cooked me dinner and as he was removing it from the oven it slipped off the tray and fell to the floor. Since he was on a date he tried to keep the bad words to a minimum. :p

Laura
- I am trying a new approach today which is super clean and planned out. I am not very good at always planning ahead and I think that gets me into a lot of trouble, especially when I am bored. And I didn't need to know that Reese is making a dark chocolate PB cup, two of my favorite things.:p

Did well yesterday until I got home at 9pm and DH has not fed the kids and they are hungry. They asked for cereal and that was it, next you know I am snacking on cereal right out of the box.:confused: Fortunately it pretty was healthy cereal but who needs to be downing carbs right before bed.

OMG! I love Reese's and now dark chocolate ones? LOOK OUT! Okay, that's it, I'm getting one of those brownies! Was trying to resist, but after all that, darn it! That's okay, I'm doing great today and I'm running again tonight, so I know I can get rid of it!

:eek: Putting my fingers in my ears and singing "la la la" did not hear that Reese make dark chocolate peanut butter cups....nope did hear it did nope did not read it either....I know nothing :p

Linda, with you if I do not plan what I am going to eat that's where I fall off the wagon. I 90 - 95% pack my breakfast and lunch and dinner it generally ok it those witching hours after dinner where the evil witch from the kitchen call my name for all the goodies that lay in the cupboard  :p

Have to fight that battle...my days are ok....its after dinner that gets me.

Therese

Therese - Me too, I do great with my first three meals of the day, but never plan dinner and that is exactly where my day falls apart. I start scavenging through the kitchen. But I am determined that today will be different because I have a plan. LOL, at the not hear or reading the Reese's thing, when I go to the store on Thursday I will have to make sure I don't go looking for them.:p

Hey Debbie....if you have time post your meat loaf recipe...I'm always looking for new recipes.....:( sorry about your meat loaf but if it makes you feel any better I have done it myself too....I think that why my dogs are always under foot in my kitchen....or as I'm thinking about they are probably intentionally under foot to get the food :D

Along with planning and eating clean I decided to make one more change today and it has been interesting. I have decided to "dine" everytime I eat. No reading, no computer, no eating while standing in the kitchen, no nothing...just eat.

Linda, I plan on doing that starting Sept 14. Betw. Labor Day next Mon & a furlough day next Fri, I refuse to torture myself through the 3 day weekends. Once they're over I plan on going Atkins for at least a month. Funny, we're both trying to drop about 10 lbs. Maybe we should start a 10 lb check in on 9/14.

In the meantime, I'm cutting back cardio & eating whatever I want in moderation the next 2 weeks, to see if I'll gain or stay the same. If I don't gain weight I'm not quite sure what to think!

Deb, please post that recipe, unless it contains bread crumbs. ;)

P.S. sorry everyone about that Reese's announcement.;)

I am in on thread.

B- protein shake with berries
L- salad with chicken and veggies, lf dressing
S- protein shake with blueberries
D- chicken and asparagug
S- almonds and yogurt

So sorry about your meatloaf ordeal! I hate that when that happens! The last two trips to the grocery store, each time I open the trunk, something shifted and it's always something breakable that falls out onto the garage floor before I have a chance to catch it. It was a gallon of milk that I had to rinse out one time, so annoying!

I was eating so squeaky clean for a long time that I think I am still kind of recovering from it and not eating as clean as I would like. but I am trying listen to my hunger and fullness signals if nothing else. I am so darn willfull, though. Sigh.

Had a good day today, but, of course, the weekdays aren't my problem! So, I'm staying with my usual breakfast. I had a good salad for lunch at home. For snacks today I had in the a.m. my Chiobani fat-free plain yogurt mixed with raspberries and wheat germ, plus 1 Tbsp. of bee pollen and my p.m. snack was a banana and 5 whole raw almonds. Ran 3.37 miles after work, came home and warmed up a piece of baked chicken, brown rice with my leftover green beans and carrots and a small baked sweet potato with a drizzle of honey and cinnamon.

I did have my brownie at lunch, but that's because they were sitting on the counter just calling my name! My DH force fed me one after my dinner tonight too. That's okay, they'll be gone soon!

I will post the meatloaf recipe. It's good. And it does have breadcrumbs in it, Laura!!! Sorry! I will also post this homemade applesauce I made. OMG was it good!

Linda, LOL on losting 5# and getting yourself a Reese cup. You go girl!!! And I think it's important to actually sit and eat mindfully. Usually we are all in such a rush. I always try to eat my dinner in a relaxed state.

This week is turning out to be kind of a test for me. I've cut back cardio from every day to every other day, & pretty much thrown caution to the wind w/food. Yesterday I had a turkey club for lunch with french fries :)eek::eek::eek: Boy were they tasty!), last night I had chicken & mashed potatoes, plus 2 Coffee Crisps for desert :)eek::eek::eek:).

I've lost a pound. I wonder if it has something to do with shocking my system with carbs & less cardio? Although I don't see how that would cause me to LOSE weight.........

I cannot figure out my metabolism. This is weird.
