The "NO DIET" checkin

OK, I had a good day yesterday, but I think it's more b/c I haven't shopped for this moderation yet. I had chicken ceaser salad for lunch (no croutons, but again b/c I haven't bought any complex carbs yet), turkey burgers for dinner w/lowfat cheese (no buns, but again b/c I haven't bought any complex carbs yet ;)), & my usual 2 servings of PB for dessert.

I am having kind of a tough time w/this. I have some whole grain pasta sitting in my cupboard & I cannot bring myself to eat it. For me it's the same thing as eating chocolate cake with a bowl of ice cream. I'm a-skeered! I'm not supposed to be freaking over this stuff anymore.

Can anyone recommend a good bread? I've seen a lot of forum members use a brand called ezekiel? Is that in the bread aisle or the bakery aisle? I might even really live dangerously & buy some potatoes this w/e.

Oh, & I ordered Tosca Reno's cookbook. Hopefully that'll help.

Ezekiel is found in the frozen section where grocery stores have organic foods. Like where Amy's stuff is, etc. It's probably the most nutritious bread you can buy but you have to acquire a taste for it. Its very dry. You have to keep it frozen or it molds quick. I only use it when I'm being really strict with my eating and since we're not doing that right now, I'm eating whole wheat bread.

And you wasted your money on Tosca's book. I think its a terrible cookbook. There maybe three recipes that are worth trying in it. Made me mad that I wasted my money on it. But maybe you'll see it differently then I did.

Laura - You are not alone on the carb thing. I want eggs, but always want toast with my eggs, so refuse to eat the eggs because I won't eat the toast even if it is whole wheat.

I did pretty well yesterday except for the 2 tblsp. of ice cream. I don't know what has gotten into me but lately I am an ice cream junkie. My other problem is raisins & almonds, I love this snack and end up eating way, way too many.

Here are yesterday's meals:
Greek yogurt w/ banana, strawberries, wheat germ & almonds
Apple w/ PB and 1% Cottage Cheese w/ rice chips
Large Salad and Protein pudding
Almonds & Raisins, 1/4 cup brown rice
Morning Star crumbles w/ low fat cheese, tomato & greek yogurt.

Linda - What kind of greek yogurt do you buy? I am eating mine right now and I bought a brand called Oikos. I wouldn't recommend it. It's thinner then regular yogurt and we all know greek yogurt should be thick. I love Fage, that is my favorite.

And don't stress about the almonds and raisins. I think that is a good snack.

Debbie - Greek Yogurt should definitely be thick. I buy Chobani. It's cheaper that both Fage & Oikos in my area. And actually my Local wholesale club started carrying it so I am a happy girl.

OMG I was thinking about eggs last night--I've only had omelet or scrambled in maybe the last 6-7 years. I was thinking.........I'd really like sunny side up Sat for brunch. With wheat toast. Or maybe soft boiled. :p

Linda, I think you get a pass on those 2 bites of ice cream. That's why we're doing this, right?

Darnit Debbie, you didn't like the book? I ordered it b/c so many forum members have raved about it. $HIT!

Debbie - I have that cookbook on my Amazon list! i get the magazine and there are some wonderful recipes there! Maybe I don't need the cookbooks?

I ended up eating pretty well today except I am soooo out of fruit! Yikes!

I ended up with the following:

Bfast - 2 egg whites, scrambled and my Shredded Wheat with blueberries and skim milk (I alternate this every other day with 2 egg whites scrambled and oatmeal w/dried cranberries during the week)

S- small handful (about 10) whole raw almonds

L - Subway sandwich on honey oat bread 6" no condiments except oil & vinegar - Ham, black olives and spinach and yes, I splurged and got the salt and vinegar chips! I just love those!

D - Baked chicken, green beans and corn.

That's it!

Did well with the eats today if anything I didn't eat enough.

M2: Apple w/ PB, 1% Cottage Cheese w/ rice crackers

Laura, let me know how you like Tosca Reno's cookbook. I got it once from the library and didn’t like the recipes. Once in a while I buy the Clean Eating Magazine, I like some of the recipes. I also have Tosca Reno Hummus recipe, it’s so good! It is so easy to make.

Linda and Debbie, I only can find the 10% fat Greek Yogurt:rolleyes:, it’s so good. I eat it only once in awhile.

Good morning everyone!
Wicked was awesome. I loved every minute of it. The stage was amazing and so colorful and vibrant. The story line was really good. It focused on the good witch and the wicked witch and how they met. Go see it if you can.
I ate my butt off at dinner last night. I had bread with butter of course then shrimp scampi, then my main dish was chicken franchese and penne al avodka (spelling?) and 1 apple martini. It was so yummy...

Yesterday I did Muscle Endurance no abs and today will be cardio on the treadmill.

Today's eats
B-1 cup of Kashi Go lean cereal, 1cup of ff milk 1/2 banana

How are the rest of you doing?

I did well last night. I made a veggie/beef stew from Cooking Light and I can't believe how good it was. For my last meal I had 1 slice of Ezekiel bread w/natural PB and strawberry jam. Had a glass of skim milk too. Oh, and I also had 2 Dove chocolates after dinner. :D

LOL! I'm with you Therese. Debbie, you ate chocolate! Tricia, that pasta looks yummy. How do you cook your buffalo? I've pretty much given up on buffalo b/c it either comes out raw or like shoe leather, but it's kind of the perfect food so maybe I can give it one more try........

Darnit, I keep forgetting to eat breakfast. I need to find some way to stop myself in the morning & shove some food down my pie hole. I know it's important for my metabolism but I need to get in the habit.

Well I didn't have such a great day yesterday. I had a turkey bacon cheesburger salad for lunch (that was super delicious!), but I made a london broil for dinner & it was a terrible piece of meat. It was cooked perfectly but it was still all chewy & had these strings of fat in it that were just gross. :( I ate half of it & all my asparagus, but I was down on the food thing & had a piece of white cake w/fudge icing for dessert.:eek::eek:

I'm nervous about shopping on Sunday. I'm still freaking over the carb thing. I wouldn't be surprised if I walked out of that store without a single carb in my cart.

Laura,

I don't eat breakfast at home because I don't have time. I take with me a 1/2 of uncooked oats and 1 or 2 hardboiled eggs with me in the morning and make it at work. I cook my oats in the microwave and have it down to a science. I was like you NEVER ate breakfast but that has helped me tremendously change the rest of my eating patterns during the day.

As for those carbs....start small...do you like oatmeal? sweet potatoes? whole wheat bread....start small just one every other day. I freeze my bread because I don't eat it everyday and it stays or put your bread in a tubberware as well in your frig and it really last.

Come on we want to hear what carbs you bought on Monday morning! ;)

Therese

Laura, I've been having three pieces of the Dove chocolates a day. I love my chocolate and tired of depriving myself of it. It is hard to stop at 3. I guess it's good that I at least still have the will power to stop there. I just keep telling myself, "Dark chocolate is an antioxidant. It's good for me!" :p

Hi Laura! First, I don't know how you can get by without breakfast! I have to have breakfast every day! I used to go without it and just had coffee, but I started eating breakfast and, now, I can't go without it!

As for cooking my ground buffalo, I just crumble it in a skillet with some garlic, onion, pepper and chili powder (yes, chili powder) and cook it slowly while chopping at it with the side of my spatula. The chili powder adds a little zing to the spaghetti sauce!

Everyone seems to be doing so well! I feel like I'm cheating, but I know I'm not. I guess it's going to take a little while to get used to this!

I did do a 3.5 mile run tonight, plus another 1.5 miles walking fast after work. I was really hungry by the time I got home and got dinner made!

Had a strawberry banana smoothie for dessert! Yum!

Good Morning ladies! Hope everyone slept well last night. I didnt work out at work yesterday instead I did premix of Stepblast at 7pm.

This morning I had no cash so I stopped off at the ATM and couldnt remember my pin code for my debit card WTH! I couldnt get any money so I had to go blow right throught the GW bridge this morning. I'm so mad!

My husband and I decided to try for baby#2 so I offically stopped taking the pill last month and I feel really great. Less bloated

Anyway my workout will be a circuit one I'm thinking maybe SJP or Circuit Max and my eats are:
B-2 kashi waffles 2 boiled eggs and blueberries
S-handful of almonds with 1/2 of a banana
L-1 can of tuna 1 whole grain english muffin and a salad
S-6oz fatfree yogurt and the rest of the mornings blueberries
D-not sure yet

Anyway have a great day and a wonderful weekend.
