Cathlete
I'm looking to get some new kickboxing wkouts. I have all of Cathes (of course) as well as Patrick Goudeau's newest Kickbox burn. There are so many out there to choose from, new and older. I don't really care if it's older as long as it's effective! I would prefer something that's about an hour give or take. Advanced level but not crazy (I usually workout at 5:30 am). I've been looking at many clips and reviews so I'm even more confused as to what is the best choice. I know my fellow Cathletes are the most knowledgable and honest with reviews. So I would love to hear your opinions..........it's a green light to enable me!

I love kickboxing workouts, too. They are my favorites. And though I adore Cathe's kickboxing workouts, my absolute favorites are TurboFire (it's a whole program by Beachbody, but it contains 5 kickboxing workouts) and Ilaria Montagnani's Powerstrike and Bodystrike workouts. TurboFire and Ilaria Montagnani's workouts are very different from each other. So I feel like between Cathe and those two, I get some great--and different--kickboxing workouts. Variety!

I really get a good workout from Amy Bento's kickbox surge and core which is 75 minutes with the core section but also has several shorter premixes. The choreography is a bit challenging for me but she cues well and the interval blasts between combos are intense. Tracey Staehle also has cardio kickbox challenge which I really enjoy, easier choreography so I can focus on intensity, is about 65 minutes and also has shorter premixes. I think Amy's is more advanced but I enjoy both and love all the jumps and kicks.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate your input. I'll simply have to watch a few more clips to see what looks good. Thanks again.

I love Susan Chung for kickboxing! I especially love her Rapid Fire 2: Results. I have her newest one on preorder, Rapid Fire 4: Sweat. :D

My favorite is the Rapid Fire series from Susan Chung! I can't wait to get her new Rapid Fire 4, the clip looks good! I also like Ilaria but she is much more no-nonsense and serious which is fine but Susan's workouts seems higher energy with better music.

Thanks everyone! I think I'm leaning toward Susan Chung. Don't know why really, the clips are pretty short but it seems like something I would like. Any other comments are welcome!

Ok....so I looked up Turbofire. One site had 5 dvds for around $80, another site had 12 dvs for $145. Both sold as a set. What is turbofire exactly? How often do you do it. Have you gotten good results? What were your gains. Sorry to ask so many questions but its the holiday season and I don't want to waste any money. But, I really want to get some decent kickbox workouts because I completely enjoy them. They work you hard and its total body which I love!

I have had TurboFire for many years and I have zero buyers remorse. I adore it. They have changed the program a little since I bought it; so the one I have is not exactly the same as the one available now, but the majority of the workouts are the same. I got the basic set + the advanced add on. So I have a total of 5 kickboxing workouts. The workouts are cardio kickboxing, very high energy, awesome music and the kickboxing is intermixed with HIITs. In addition you get HIIT workouts (no kickboxing just HIITs)--4 came with the set I bought (a 15 minute, a 20 minute, a 25 minute and a 30 minute) then I later bought the 20 minute "Greatest HIITS"--but I think that comes with it now. You get a 10 minute and a 40 minute stretch, a 10 minute and a 20 minute core, plus several strength workouts that use resistance bands. I did the whole program (20 weeks), then did a hybrid with ChaLean Extreme. Years later I still use TurboFire, tho I primarily use the kickboxing, the 10 minute abs and the stretch workouts (mostly the 40 minute one). I use the HIIT workouts, too, but not as much as the kickboxing workouts. I never use the strength workouts.

I got excellent results. At the time, kickboxing and HIITs were new to me so I really slimmed through the waist and legs. Now I do kickboxing and HIITs all the time, but back then it was a shock to my body I think and I got some pretty dramatic results.

Turbo Fire is a daily workout, I bought the set and did the workouts and ended up selling it on ebay. They were fun, but they all seemed to be the same workout just different lengths, the music was great though. They were also very easy I thought, I wouldn't say they were advanced workouts at all, more like intermediate.

I found les mills combat way easier than turbo fire. I would call myself an advanced exerciser. I hardly worked up a sweat, heart rate or calorie burn with combat compared to turbo file. Turbo fire always gives me a Big sweat, heart rate high, lots of cals burned. Plus I find it way more fun. Whittles your waistline too!

Thanks for the info everyone! Sweetmelissaphoto, I appreciate the comparison too! I knew my Cathletes would come through for me....thanks again.;)

Les Mills Combat is fun. My disclaimer is that I seem to like all kickboxing workouts:D I consider myself a high intermediate to low advanced exerciser. I would rate these as intermediate to high intermediate. I don't have the main Turbofire set but I do have the bonus add on Turbofire Hiit workouts (so not the kickboxing ones). Combat is slower (than Turbofire Hiit) and more controlled for working on technique and power. The music is great. The instructors are goofy and may not be for everyone. They do a lot of pulsing (I think that's the term they use) in between kicks or punches. But if you don't pulse and just continue with a kick or punch you can get your heartrate up there. I use weighted 1lb gloves also. I haven't done these in awhile and I need to pull them out again:)

I read this post in December and decided I needed to venture outside of Catheland for a little variety in kick box. I spent an evening on Collage watching clips and reading reviews. I ended up buying Susan Chung "Rapid Fire:Results," Amy Bento "Kickbox Surge and Core Training," and Patrick Goudeau "Kickbox Burn." I

've only previewed and done Susan's so far, but I LOVE IT! I think it's good to vary your instructor sometimes (I haven't bought anyone but Cathe for 10 years!). Susan is different from Cathe in cueing, and the production is not as professionally done. But, boy did I get a good and different workout! I really like how much MORE lower body work is in this DVD. The metabolic (weights with kickbox work) got my heart rate up, and the abs section was interesting (standing and lying work). Usually the first time I do a kickbox workout, it takes me awhile to "get it." I got a good workout the first time with this one. I'll probably do it a few more times, then move on to one of the others and give them a test spin.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hey exercise lover! I am like you.....extremely faithful to Cathe but add other instructors to mix it up once in a while. I got Susan Chungs first 3 workout and am loving them! A great challenge from an experienced martial arts and fitness instructor right!? Dfferent in an awsome way. I got Patrick Goudeaus a while ago and really like it as well. He does the warm up then Heather takes over. She's really energetic and great with cueing, another fave! Lastly I got the Amy Bento Kick, box and core surge......this will be the first time I've EVER returned a wkout because I did not like it. I was dissappointed by that. She seems like she has some great workouts, cueing was ok, moves were ok...I just did not care for the choreography enough to keep it. I did it a few times just to be sure......nope...not for me. I will eventually get Susan Chungs newest I'm sure. They are awesome! I hope you like Patricks too.....another goodie! Enjoy!
