STS first time!

Thanks for the welcome, everybody. :)

Jean, I live in far west Texas on a big ranch (we don't own it, just own 5 acres on it). But I stopped watching TV many years ago, when we still lived in the city. I was so addicted to it and really didn't have the time for that addiction.

So now, I'm just addicted to my computer and the internet.

I'm glad this thread is here for the inspiration that I get reading how far you guys have gotten in STS. I own and have done Cathe tapes over the last 15 years although I haven't done much strength training in the last couple of years. I'm back to it now though. :)

oh Betty, I freaked out when you said the price of Syn-ake went up so I went right to Amazon. I saw two bottles (must be shipped from two different sources) that were for $18.61 and $15.99 which is actually cheaper than what I paid last time (around $20). Whew! I'm not sure if it's okay to put a link but here goes:Amazon.com: syn-ake Were you looking at a different brand maybe? I usually get the one by University Medical which is the top two on the page. I hope you like the Hydraplenish! You'll have to let me know if you notice an improvement!
I'm totally with you on hiding indoors when the mosquitoes come out. Those suckers totally love me! It must be something in my body chemistry, I swear. My poor little Lydia gets humongous red welts when she gets bit, too.:(

Okay, I have a confession...would you guys think less of me if I stop Meso 3 early??:eek: I just can't bring myself to do the last 4 upper body discs. I was doing disc 30 last night and I really wasn't enjoying it (other than listening to my silly kids get into it!:p). I really think I prefer the moderately heavy weights around 10-12 reps like in Meso 2. I enjoyed Meso 1 and 2 so much! Well, except the push ups in Meso 1 but I have sort of a love/hate thing with push ups! I'm thinking about finishing the next two weeks with the plyo legs but substituting Pyramid upper body and Gym styles back, shoulders and biceps and maybe do STS total body. If I did the full Athletic Training dvd (during STS I've been doing the lower body express premix) then that would hit my triceps pretty good...

huecotx- I don't know what I would do without my beloved tv shows! I don't watch a lot of tv hours per se...I don't watch any reality shows at all, but I'm a total addict to certain shows. I mostly like well written, serialized dramas or cult-worthy shows of the sci-fi/fantasy type genre. I'm a total nerd girl that way! BTW, you have to let us know your name so we don't keep referring to you as huecotx!
Speaking of which, Zippity did we ever get your name??

Jean, you're so close to being done! You'll have to report back about Tonique Mat. I seem to remember a lot of talk about that on VF.

Maryk- I know what you mean about neglecting abs and cardio! It's so hard to fit it all in! I really hit the cardio hard this week...I had to make up for my mindless eating the past few weeks somehow! I've been better the past few days...I don't know what was going on. I wasn't eating out of hunger, in fact I was able to control myself better when I was super hungry from Meso 2! It was mostly just mindless, not watching myself noshing!

Carolyn have fun with Gym Style legs! I really liked that one except the ball roll ins with one leg! That move actually put a lot of pressure on my knees so I think I'll skip that part next time!

Have a great afternoon ladies!

It had occurred to me that once all of you finished STS, then you might move on and then I'd be all alone. After all, the title of the thread is "STS first time!" I'd have to kick you out if you kept going. :p

I have a lot of the other Cathe tapes and I do plan to do them for a few months, after I finish with this round of STS (3 1/2 months). Then I plan to do the 6 1/2 month rotation of STS. I don't ever want to stop doing my other Cathe tapes all together, so I will have times with I won't be doing STS for a long time.

Oh, my name is Mar. :)

Aw, I'm very glad that you won't be leaving. It's so nice to hear and read from people who work out and understand the workouts. And I know the first time round will be different than the second time around since I think it'll take me a little while to be sure I'm lifting the right amount of weights (not sure how accurate my ORM weight amounts are).

So Jean, are you saying that you have been totally skipping the leg days of the STS? I think I like working upper body better than legs but I really need to work my legs so I do it. My legs are tired sometimes though, when I work ou,t since I like to bike and run too so they don't get a complete day off even when I don't lift weights.

Good Evening girls!! As you all know I have been extremely busy! But I see the light at the end of the tunnell. I am back!!! I have now got caught up at work, my husband got a new job so starting Monday, he will be home more to help with all the chores!!!! Ao I will have more time!!! Thank god!!! :p

Okay.... My exciting news.... I just bought a new elliptical!!! I am so excited!!! I just did 30 minutes on it!!! And I am pumped!!!:eek::eek:

Huecotx---Welcome! I have been missing for a few days!!!! So glad to be back. Stick with us girls and we will motivate you like no one else! We all are addicted to Cathe...no matter what DVD we are doing we chat about it!!!
Do you have horses on the ranch? I have 2, I live in GA. We are on 7.8 acres. (Lots of barn chores) haha :p

Jean---All I can say, is I almost quit wating BL this season. But, I stuck it out. But, if she wins I will be so angry! She does not deserve it. She has been a pain in the a$$ since episode 1!!!

Betty--- Congrats on your mat!!! I love bargins!!!

Carolyn---How is Les Miles going?

Colleenn--We will not think differently of you if you stop Meso 3----as long as you continue to chat with us!! :)

Oh...the bugs are horrible down here too. Its crazy. One day no bugs, next day you can't go outside! We are battleing the mosquitos!! I have never seen them so bad! I hope they go away, or it looks like we will have to stay indoors all summer.:(

Okay, I have to go shower. Be back tomorrow morning!!!

My Friday schedule is Cardio 1 hr in am/ Disc #15 in pm!!!!!!

Good Morning!!!!

It's finally Friday! Can't wait till 5 oclock so I can be off for the weekend! :D

I did my hour of running on the treadmill this morning. My muscles sure were sore from the elliptical. So excited! I love when I have DOMS. It makes me believe I actually got an amaing workout!!!

So I lost a little more. Check out my ticker!!!

Hope everyone has a lovely day!!! I am off to work!!!

Check back later!!!:D

Oh my! Disc 19, double wave load, was tough! I felt like the chest exercises worked so many muscles, my shoulders and tris were tired before I even got to them. I had to drop way down in weight on those seated front presses. Oh well, I did work to failure, that's for sure.

Missy, you seem to have so much energy, you should be really proud of yourself for sticking with your workout schedule and all the other things you have going on. Gled you are enjoying the elliptical, it is always exciting to get new workout equipment. And congrats on the weight loss!

Mar, welcome, you will get lots of support here for STS.

Betty, lucky you, I never seem to find any Cathe equipment when I go to Marshalls.

Colleen, if you're not enjoying Meso 3, I don't see any reason to stick with it. There are so many workouts to do, you may as well do something you like.

Is anyone looking forward to Mad Men starting up again?

Ok, better shower. Going to take my Mom shopping today, I think we'll check out the new Lord&Taylor that opened in Salem. Have great day!

Mary---Thanks for the encouraging words. I am very motivated and have never felt better. I hope you have a great day shopping!!!! I am only a few discs behind you. Keep up the good work. I too decrease some weights sometimes. I have to be nice to my left shoulder, so I always go easier on it than on the right. As long as we are giving 100%, thats all that matters.

Talk with ya later!!! :)

Jean--- Don't give up on The biggest loser all together. If you quit watching this season, at least check out the next. I have always loved the show until this season. Maybe they just choose the wrong contestants. They are always talking about "its just a game" I completely disagree. Yes, there is a money price, but they have been given an once in a lifetime opportunity to change there lives. They are forgetting about that.

I will be 29 in May---I feel so much better now that I have lost 40 pounds, every ounce I lose I get more energy. I was stepping up on my high step a few days ago with 12 pd dumbells---24 extra pounds---- and I thought Cathe was going to kill me. Then I thought, wow, I have lost almost twice that. How can people carry around all that weight and not care? All I know, is I will never go back to that!!! And I can say that will confidence!!! Thanks for all of you kind words. I truely think of all of you as my workouts friends. We may not workout in the same room but we are together. Thanks again!!!:):)

I am so happy that I was able to help you increase your cardio. Doing an hour on the treadmill and 40 on the elliptical....That's amaxing! Keep it up!!!! :D

Chat later!!!

Carolyn---you better do abs today!!!!

Carolyn--- I would be angry too! Hopefully the new barbell and clips will fit and everything will be fine. Hopefully, you get them next week. I would make a follow up phone call next week to make sure they shipped. Since, they F'ed up already once with your order.

As for your run, that is wonderful!!! I am doing some abs this evening. :)

Hopefully you have a relaxing evening!!!

Jean---I too am frustrated with TBL---going to finish it and hope for a better next season. I am enjoying life. I am a very busy person, but I still make time for fun and my hubby!!! And of course TV!!!!

I think everyone is enjoying this nice weather!!!! When it is 100 degrees we will all be chating when its too hot to go outside!!!

Gotta go---Chat later!:p

Betty I did a split day of work outs too! :p I did Trisets LB before I had to put Dylan on the bus and take Lydia to 4K and then I came back and did Athletic Training leg cardio premix. This is my Friday off and as usual I'm running around trying to get stuff done...not as much computer time! When I'm at work I'll have gaps of time between patients and I'll be like "doot dee doo...what to do...I know! Post on the forums!!" Today I also had a massage!! My neck and traps have been so tight from the Meso 3 lifting and it felt awesome to get that worked out! I so wish I could afford to go all the time!

Carolyn I'm so mad for you and the clips too! How boneheaded is Beachbody?? They better get that fixed pronto!

Missy congratulations on the continued weight loss! That's so awesome! It feels so great to be healthy and energetic and comfortable in your own skin doesn't it?:D

I think next week is going to be a circuit week. I've been eyeing Cathe's Drill Max and I think that will be Sunday's workout! I so miss my circuits! I'm planning on doing 1 week of Meso 2 after that and keep alternating between circuits and STS. I so love that STS kept me consistent with weight lifting...I don't want to lose that! Plus I'm determined to get that darn tower and do some pull ups! I'm hoping I'll be able to get that within the next few months! I really loved the endurance and hypertrophy phases of STS and I think I'll just keep going between those two in the future. I think I'll use the Plyo legs on their own since they are such good cardio/leg workouts. Soooo...I'll definitely keep posting since I'll still be doing STS here and there!!

Better go vacuum! Later girls!

Oh Maryk I forgot to add to my post earlier I also love Mad Men!! It has a definite spot on my DVR.:D I'm really excited about the season premiere on Sunday!

Carolyn- there is nothing more frustrating that bad customer service and when it's over the phone and they are obviously half way around the world it's even worse! I sure hope they finally get it right for you!

Well, last night we found out Mark's Grandma is in the hospital. She had blood in her stool apparently and I guess they decided to keep her and do some tests to see what's going on. The poor thing already has Alzheimer's, congestive heart failure and COPD and even though this winter was pretty mild it was still hard on her. :( Unfortunately I have to work today while Mark takes the kids down to the hospital to visit her. We'll have to see what happens...

Carolyn- Mad Men is a show on AMC. It's won the Emmy for best drama a few years in a row (although I think that should have gone to Breaking Bad). I never watched it until recently. Mark and I got caught up on Netflix and now we're excited to see it tomorrow. The funny thing is, I tried to watch it about a year ago and I only got 5 episodes in and decided I hated it so I stopped. The blatant sexism was too over the top to me. Then I kept hearing how great it was and my sister told me I would like it by the end of the first season so I tried it again. The second time I still hated those first 5 episodes so I had to muscle my way through those (Mark hadn't seen them with me originally so I had to watch it again!). Then it started to grow on me and I really liked it more and more as it went on. Oh, and I caught Grimm last night. It looks good! I have to look online to see what it's about though because I was a tad confused.

I was so heart broken to delete my STS ticker! I really didn't want to!

Good Evening ladies!!!!

I just got home. I have been shopping all day with my husband!!! We went tool shopping! yes, tools. My husband is a mechanic and he needed a few extra things. So I have been to 3 different towns, at sears, lowes, home depot, etc. Having a blast!!! hahaha

I have to support him, he supports me in all my purchases. So, with that being said, I have put alot of steps on my feet today!!!

I did 40 minutes on the elliptical this morning. I am on my way to do Butts & Gutts!!! Be back!!!

Have a lovely evening!!! :p

Missyt - you asked if I have horses. I have 4 Arabians. :D I also have two goats and an emu and cats and dogs. Barn chores are a way of life, that's for sure. Oh, and I visited my cousin in Georgia once and I almost steamed to death.

huecotx--- Barn chores is a way of life. But, it is therapy!!! After a long day of work, it is nice to come home to the animals. We too have horses, dogs, cats.

Marie---B&G was awesome! I absolutley love that one!!!

Carolyn---that is an awesome deal! I too paid $22 a piece for those. Someone will get lucky!!!

Going to the grocery store and then back to do my cardio.

Be back soon! :D

Hi girls!
Slept in late this morning. I'm not a natural morning person at all...I force myself to get up and work out during the week. When left to my own devices without an alarm I easily sleep until 9:30!

Mark's Grandma is getting a colonoscopy today...actually within a few minutes. I went to visit her after work yesterday (Mark took the kids in the morning while I was at work). It is so hard as she is getting more and more confused. She was much more confused than usual even but I think it was because she was out of her element and Katie (Mark's cousin who takes care of her) wasn't there. Katie is totally her center and when she isn't around I always notice she is much more disoriented. Hopefully it will turn out okay and not be anything too serious.

Today I'm going to start my week of circuit dvd's and then next week I'm planning to do week 1 of Meso 2 again. I hope I like this alternating weeks plan. I was thinking I would do Drill Max today but then the cardio club step I ordered came on Friday and I've been tempted to try a step workout! I traded for Imax 3 on VF! I don't know if it's a good idea to try my first workout on it with one as hard as that but I'm really curious about that workout! It's reputation precedes it!

Marie Carolyn's idea about taping the baby moving in your belly is a fantastic one! I never would have thought of that but the kids would totally have thought that was cool! It is the weirdest thing watching them squirm inside your belly while you feel it at the same time! Surreal!

Okay, Dylan is complaining about wanting breakfast! Better go!

Helloooooooooo!

Sorry I've been MIA for so long. I've been lurking but not posting. I had my rest week and then ended up taking another week off. I've been having some issues with my shoulders and/or carpal tunnel. I think I'm going to have to go to a specialist and get it evaluated. Bummer. :(

Colleen, I hope Mark's Grandma is doing OK post-colonoscopy.

Carolyn, thanks for thinking about me!

I don't think I'm going to do meso 3. I am considering the LIS/STS one-month rotation. I don't want to commit to a 3 month rotation with vacation coming up over the next couple of months. Otherwise, I'd join you Jean!

Linda

Missy - my animals are my therapy too. I spend a lot more time with them than chores demand because they keep me sane. :)

Jean - great job finishing STS. We're bookends, I'm starting tomorrow and you just finished. :D This first time I'm doing the 3 month rotation and then I'll do the 6 month rotation. I know I don't have a big enough variety of plates for the barbells and I also know that my ORMs aren't 'right' since even doing those for the first time in my life, seemed like a guessing game.

Tomorrow, afternoon, I'll be going by Big 5 to look at their weights. I want to get some 2 1/2 lb plates and another set of 5 lb plates. Oh, and get a weight vest although that'll have a wait (pun!!!) budget-wise.

mar

Carolyn--- It is nice to have horses. But, it is alot. For one, you need land, vet bills are expensive, grain and hay is not cheap either, and you literly can't go anywhere unless you have someone you can honestly trust to feed them and watch over them. They also can't tell you if anything is wrong, and beleive me....when something goes wrong, it's not like putting them in your backseat and driving to the vets office.

But, on the other side of that....they are wonderful. It is truely the best therapy out there.

I went grocery shopping and spent close to $200 dollars and got hardly anything!!! :(

Now, I am off to do my morning cardio. Yes, I am running behind today!!! Had to grocery shop, do all my food prep for the week, do laundry, clean the entire house. Now I am done!!! So I can go exercise now!!! Going to do 1 hr cardio and then after dinner I will do Total body Trisets!!!!

Be back later! :D
