STS CHECK IN ....DISC 6

My husband lifts weights and does tons of cardio. But he has never done a Cathe workout, until STS came along. He is man enough to admit he's scared!

He and I did discs 1,2, and 3 together. He wanted me to work out with him last night and I told him we had to do disc 6 then. He agreed. He didn't quite make it through the whole thing. He has always lifted heavy and is not used to higher reps. He was a trooper though. He is really impressed with this series.

We live in Minnesota so New Jersey is a long road trip for us! I hope you have another one next year because we would both love to come and see you. I decided not to go this year, but as soon as it sold out I had non-buyers remorse.

Disc 6 was brutal. I love/hate low pulse lunges. My legs and butt are sore today. I'm impressed at how evenly distributed my soreness is. You hit all areas.

Hi Everyone! Its T.G.I.F!!

I'm just stopping by to check-in. Okay, this was a busy day for me workout wise.

Today's Workout:

I started my workout first with a 3 mile jog/run/powerwalk intervals on the TM for 45 min.

Then did STS as described below:

STS-Meso 1 wk 2 disc 6=

This was the hardest one yet that I've done of STS. It was really fun and definitely challenging. I learned that it was no coincidence that Cathe was wearing that lime green top which is the same as the band she uses to torture us with. Yep, that's right it was an omen of things yet to come for this workout, band burn most definitely! This was alot of fun and very challenging. For me with my MS iffy balance issues I found that the wall squats that I did with no wts were very difficult, nearly impossible for me but I did the best I could. Then the other one that I found beyond difficult and was impossible was the one legged sit-n-stands. I could not do this one to save my life. I did have to cheat it and have the heel touch the ground if not stay there. I had to fight to keep from falling over. I'll have to keep cheating that one until I'm able to do it like Cathe and the gang. I'm not giving up, just modifying and trying to keep from falling on my face. The plates were awesome. I substituted paper plates with frisbees and that worked great on my carpet with no worries. I love those, man are those efficient at working the legs or what!

STS-Ab Circuits- Pilates inspired abs= 19 min Those were amazing!!! Love those.

Ok, after all that I'm toast! I will have to gear up for MIC tomorrow. Oh boy~ that one is supposed to be a killer, wish me luck!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Friday and workout today! See ya all tomorrow's check-in.

Hugs!:D

Nora ,

You are SUPERWOMAN doing the workout you did today and still planning on MIC tomorrow.:eek:

MIC has a fear factor for me . I LOVE cardio, but that one goes on & on & on & on............

I committed to doing CCPP tomorrow and I am second guessing myself on that since my legs are already feeling this morning's workout (disc 6).
If I can walk tomorrow , even halfway normally, I'm going to try my best though.;)

I just finished Disc 6 this morning and boy did I find it challenging. The 1 leg sit and stands had to be modified as did the wall squats both with the leg extensions and the weights. I am still having problems using paper plates. My balance at times is iffy, the carpet is awkward and the weight is heavy. This was the disc I had to modify the most. What I really liked was the band work. That was great. After the workout I walked the dogs and now I can hardly move. I am so glad I completed this as I almost wimped out.

I did Disk 6 this morning and I loved it! I've always preferred lower body work, and these are really fitting the bill for me. I especially love all the new band work - those band kick backs are great. I know I'm really going to be feeling this one. Heck I already am feeling this one. :D

BTW Cathe I loved your top and shoes in this one. ;)

I got up at 5am and did this workout this morning well most of it. I did not do paperplates or wall squats and I did not do the bonus. Still even eliminating all of that my legs were still fried. :p

I think I will add on bonus legs for disc 6 and disc 9 next week.

5AM???? wow, i am so impressed w/you gals that workout so early. if i had to do it that early, it would probably not happen.

well, i did premix #3, i think, the scrambled cardio one, from drillmax this morning and added drill #4 again for about a 52m. workout. i'm gonna try and get in pilate abs later, i hope.
and i finished my 1rm for mesocycle 2. so, i am ready for a day off tomorrow and a recovery week. my body is fried. so ready to rest.

Ouch!

After disk 5 I felt like a champ...after (and during) disk 6 I felt like a chump. :(
Granted I have been fighting an illness for two weeks, I still felt exceptionally weak during this workout. I did sleep well though! The sit and stands were tough, no weight used. Wall squats, no weight used as well. I am not as sore today as I was from week 1, which is a bonus. Today is cardio then tomorrow church and sleep...ah, can't wait. Hoping next week goes more smoothly on the legs.

Disc 6-- done!

Did Disc 6 this morning. DH used mostly bodyweight (again), and took a little ribbing for it. Oh well, at least I wasn't having to fight for the dumbbells!

I told him that I had secretly expected him to quit by now, but I'm proud that he didn't. He says that the workouts are do-able but he doesn't like getting up at 5:00 two weekdays to do them. However, he said he'd continue.

I used the heaviest weights I could manage and did all the exercises. Consequently, I expect that I'll be limping and hobbling until Friday. :D

I'll probably do LowMax again tomorrow because it will be easier on my legs than anything other cardio that I have. But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it ... if I can walk!

My legs are still shaking!

I did Disc 6 ealier this afternoon. I am still shaking. I started out on point with the timing of breaks etc, but about 10 exerecises in I was taking longer breaks. By the end, I was really stalling! I never thought I would look forward to inner thigh lifts on the floor. I was never so happy to sit on the floor for that section!

The hardest one for me was the static lunges - down slow for 8 and then low ends and up! YIKES!!! I had to take a mini break in between those slow ones! In fact, I had to take a mini break here and there after doing some of the sets. Don't worry - I still worked hard. I am just not at Cathe's level (yet).

The one thing I am focusing on in this program is to not get frustrated. I am just not "there" yet with the exercise level, but I will get there. I am already noticing some changes in my muscles. I have not lost weight on the scale, but I getting more toned. I can see it in my arms and my legs. It is nice.

I am looking forward to the rest day tomorrow. I am wiped out after this week!

After disk 5 I felt like a champ...after (and during) disk 6 I felt like a chump. :(

LOL, you and me both! I just finished Disc 6 and am amazed at how wiped I was through the workout. I finished it, but I definetly don't feel like a champ!!

kryptychyck: same with me on the breaks. I kept right with them until about the middle of the workout and not only had to take longer breaks, I had to take a seat on those breaks... Then more towards the end, I kept wandering over to DH's side of the basement where he was working and he told me to stop stalling and get it over with, so I did.

I was determined to get through it and finish up this week of STS.

disc 9 week three last night, even my feet are sore today! My legs were shaking too bad to make it through the bonus section. I did what I could....I actually got a queasy stomach this time, myheart rate got up so high with all those lunges, I'm fighting a head cold and the hotter I got the harder is was for me to breath but I was deterrmined to finish this workout, I didn't really care if I completed the bonuse workout, just the main workout was killer enough

I did Disc 6 yesterday. Great workout. I had to be a bit careful on how far I went down do to bad knee but I did the full workout. The wall squats, there was no way I was going pass the 90 degree angle so I went that far and held it while Cathe and crew picked up weights. It was tough then the leg extensions, I made it through but it wasn't pretty. The sit and stands (I do off my weight bench, not sure how high it is but it works) and I used 5lbs and was able to do them touching the floor a couple of times. Much better than the previous week.

Lots of lunges. The plate work is great. I use the plastic discs on carpet and they slide nicely.

I am surprised I don't have DOMS from this workout.

Here is to Disc 7 on Monday.

Rhonda

why are you trying to kill me?

I came upstairs after my workout and told my husband he needed to call the police - Cathe is trying to kill me.

Wow!! I found Disc 6 much harder than Disc 3. I just barely finished 20 minutes ago and my legs are JELLO!! I can't wait to see the good things STS does for me. I don't think I have ever pushed myself this hard.

Maria

WOW

Did disc 6 yesterday and powered through the whole thing balling my eyes out!!!! I was very humbled with the one legged sit and stands. I could only do two with no weights. Once it was over I felt good but I was very close to giving up in the middle of it.

I use to think that B&G was a very hard leg workout but Disc 6 makes B&G seem like a walk in the park!

Disc 3 legs was a killer. Sore for 4 days after. I did Disc 6 yesterday. I'm not sore YET, but some of those moves I just cannot do.

I can do the wall squats, but going down to pick up the weight is not going to happen. Maybe one day. The one leg sit and stands were hilarious. For me it was more of a balance issue....trying to figure out how to make my muscles work right to make it happen. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.
