Something we DON'T know about you (FITNESS)

I use ab work as a warm up and my almost 14 year old son has me flex my muscles for his friends and comments you can beat that person up mom ;) so he is proud of me.He also has me helping him along with a coach getting ready for his first year of football.

Wow, you non-stretchers amaze me. If I don't stretch my muscles get all bunched up! Its horrible!!

In high school I tried out for the basketball team, made it to one trial practice. It was so freakin' hard I quit that day! All we did was run!!! LOL! WIMP!

I couldn't stand gym class and was always picked last for the teams, or atleast second to last. Although I did try out for cheerleading and made it. I just wasn't into gym class. Oh and in elementary school I had asthma, not real bad but bad enough so that when we had to do the fitness run around the field, I was always out of breath. I didn't like fitness day either. Funny how things change:.)

I loathe ab work!! I will do anything to skip it!!!

And I too was one of those always picked last:-(

Catherine

OK, not to brag, but I was always the FIRST picked in gym class! LOL. Seriously! But I promise, I never laughed at those picked last! PROMISE!

To continue to brag....I was named Female Ideal Athlete my senior year in High School and my boyfriend at that time was named Male Ideal Athlete. LOL. Everyone joked that the new criteria for being nominated and chosen was that you had to be a couple.

I played sports all in HS and college, but hated running! Now I'm running marathons!

I won't leave my ceiling fan on during any high step segments because I am afraid I'll get my head chopped off!

Edited to add:

Not to brag, but I was always picked LAST for sports in school...and LIKED it that way...I hate sports! LOL :p

Wendy-that's funny about the ceiling fan. I workout in my basement and am afraid that my exposed light bulbs will crash when I swing my arms too high! LOL

I hate cardio. Oh, wait a minute. This is supposed to be something you DON'T know about me.

Hmmm.

I was GREAT in gymnastics when I was in elementary and high school. Of course, I couldn't do a tumbling pass now if you put a tray of chocolate covered donuts at the end of the run.

I decided I wanted to be on my school's JV soccer team, so I showed up to the first practice...it was my 1 and only one..lol...I think I almost had a heart attack running and was, of course, dead last. I wish I would have had the gumption to stick it out and improve though. Oh well, no going back! (thankfully)

When I first started working out in high school, my mother could out-do me in aerobics. And that was just one of those wimpy little 20 Minute Workouts.

Those 'wimpy' little workouts wiped the floor with me the few times I tried to do it along with them (20 some years and 30 some lbs ago), I wonder if I could do it now. Maybe they were the seed of the idea of all of the strip tease workouts, some of it was like soft porn:eek:

I stopped working out regularly for the past 2 weeks and have gained 7.5 lbs. That's 1/2 lb a day. AAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!. Yes I started back up yesterday, but man I have lost so much endurance I feel worse than when I first started working out 2 years ago. Why oh why did I do this to myself? I know part of the weight is water retention from eating too much salt and other poor choices. The rest I'm just going to have to work harder and burn it back off.

I was always pretty physically fit (regular cardio,) but when I joined the volleyball team in JR college, I sucked so bad, I could see the misery on my teammates faces when the ball would come my way. I quit after a couple of games.

I don't stretch either, and warm up if the DVD has a warm up, for only for cardio. I skip the warm up on weight lifting DVDs, except for legs sometimes.

I played softball when I was younger & was a power hitter on the team.

I know how you feel! I am not sure how much I gained (threw away the scale), but I feel like it is at LEAST 10 pounds in these last 2 weeks. I had worked so hard previous to these 2 weeks. Oh well. It ended yesterday and I am back on track. Day 2.

I was ALWAYS picked last in class. Even as an adult I joined a wallyball league and I was TERRIBLE! I would cry on my way home, because I was so bad!
Jenn

I didn't want to type this, but since others are confessing positive things I don't feel so bad!

I was also always picked first for everything. On field day, I used to clean up house, I was the fastest runner, the captain of the volleyball team, the coach could put me anywhere on the softball diamond and I would rock but usually played first or catcher, I had the highest batting average on the team, was the number one draft pick for all-stars, and I used to beat up the boy next door who is now playing for the Steelers. I was so incredibly athletic growing up; could play ANYTHING, but not basketball. I suck at basketball and in Indiana that is the only sport that exists, pretty much. I couldn't hit a free throw to save my kids' lives!!!

Missy

Missy-I was afraid to post my positive things as well, but I'm glad to see others follow suit. I could have written your post. I guess we were very fortunate to be born with natural athleticism. My boys have gotten it as well, and it makes this Mama PROUD!

I love this thread!
