OK, so I've gotten some holiday shopping done and today I did a bunch of shopping at amazon.com. It got me wondering what is on everybody's lists. I like to see what other people are buying for their families.....it gives me some ideas. Here's what is on OUR lists:

Sigg water bottle
Martian Matter Alien Maker (bought)
Wii Fit (bought it as a joint gift for both boys)
Runescape.com membership

SO:
Little Rascals DVD set (bought)
huge jigsaw puzzle (bought)
Tickets to Late Night Catechism (bought)

everything she sees on tv LOL,that is just the impulses though. she is happy with whatever we get her but we want to redo her room with some disney fairy/tinkerbell stuff or if i can find anything care bears. some small toys like barbie princess/fairy dolls. ross had them cheap. a disney princess butterfly chair i picked up at ross. also looking into some Wii games they have for kids her age. some art supplies b/c she loves that stuff and maybe sneak in some nice clothes in there. i am trying to get dh on board with me for not going overboard especially with high ticket items b/c she isn't concerned with that stuff. she just likes getting the simple things. so proud of my kid :D

Kassia-like your Viola, my kids are happy with whatever they get also. I don't worry about going over board at this time of the year. I'm pretty tight with money all year long and with their BDays both in October, this part of the year is when I loosen up just a little bit and splurge a tad. I'm finding that my boys appreciate the gifts that are things they USE throughout the entire year.....tennis racquet, the catcher's glove, the Wii game, gift certs to a clothing store (off Lids, for my older DS, the hat lover).

Thanks for sharing.....her room sounds like it will be gorgeous.

Two words...AMERICAN GIRL! That will be the bulk of it. DD is 8. She already has 3 and some clothes. There are others she wants, accessories, clothes ( I like to get clothes on ebay) etc. This will be split for Christmas and bday (which is Valentine's Day but I do all shopping at the same time). She'll also get some Nintendo DS games if she can find some she lost (I already bought them though - ha ha - good sale at Toys R Us). A really cute sleeping bag from PBKids. A dog alarm clock that barks to wake you up. There are other things she has asked for but will not get! I refuse to get any more toys that will clutter the play room. Ooo, I did get a game today on Amazon called Bananagram or something like that. Looks fun and educational, and anything called Banana, well...:D

OK Gayle - what the heck is this? <<Martian Matter Alien Maker>>

I did go look at some KB's for my own X-mas list at MC Sports today.:D Found some goodies to put on my list.

Amazingly, my niece and nephew are not into having a lot of stuff, and they don't care for things like action figures or Barbie or anything like that. So for my niece it's some clothes, books, games, fairy-themed items and a gift card to her favorite "mystical" store. For my nephew it's clothes, books, games, UFO/sci-fi themed items and some Playstation 2 stuff. Also they are home-schooled so we always get them a couple of kits or projects they can do towards their lessons. My little nephew is not yet three, so basically we just get him puzzles and a couple of small toys, and mostly clothes. I got him the most darling rain boots this year, with little submarines on them. :D

DH and I are also pretty mellow with each other. I want a meditation cushion, kettleballs, and books on sustainable living, chicken-raisin' and the like, plus a really good water bottle (SIGG) and he doesn't really want anything beyond woodcutting and home improvement tools. I did get him some clothes though. He likes to look nice but hasn't got the patience for shopping.

Anyone else do 99 percent of their shopping on-line? Except for stocking stuffers I rarely hit the stores.

Thanks Gayle,

Now I just added Martian Matter Alien Maker to the list!!!!!:eek:

My boys will love it. But I had never seen it.

I try to keep Christmas under control around here. One birthday in Dec and one in Feb. Nevermind the aunts, uncles etc that insist on buying things. I see what they get from others and then I start thinning their pile and putting it away for b-days, special occassions etc.

I buy family gifts and combined gifts and something from their list that they really want. But I don't go crazy. The meaning of Christmas gets lost in all that.

Gayle,

I just went to order. Do I need the mega set or will the regular set do???
You know, the Martian Matter Alien Maker?

My DS 3 1/2 really "gets" Christmas this year. He sort of understood last year, but not totally. So I feel a lot of pressure to make it magical for him.

So far he is getting a t-ball set, some dvds, some pajamas, a board game.... Last year he got a Jeep Hurricane Power Wheels from Santa, but this year we are lost as to what his *big* gift will be. I hope I figure it out soon.... Any suggestions??

toys r us,maybe even target, have neat scooters and bikes for his age. the 3 wheel scooters are pretty neat and not to expensive. plus many have characters and you can get helments and pads with matching character designs.

The only thing on my X-mas list is a vacuum cleaner with a bag. I absolutely hate the bagless ones.

Ellie-sorry, I just saw your question this morning. I would normally get the regular set, but at amazon.com yesterday morning when I was shopping, the MEGA set was cheaper by a few dollars than the regular. Hope that helps!

I've been doing more and more shopping online as each year comes and goes. With all the offers of free shipping and the ability to price shop without driving from store to store, it's a win-win. Not to mention, it saves me money because I don't browse around the other aisles and buy things I didn't originally intend to buy.

I like the idea of the science kits. We do that....this year, they're getting motion-controlled outdoor airplanes. We LOVE the hands-on stuff around here!

You would feel completely different if you owned a dyson. I'm not kidding.
I hated the bagless vacuum cleaners too. They work the first few times until the filter gets dirty. I'm telling you, the Dyson is worth every cent!!!
I have owned several hoover's, bissel, and a I have a central vac system in my home. The Dyson is the BOMB!!!

My Christmas list is boring.
My 2 boy's want computer parts.
I insisted they put one toy on their list this year. I am so bummed I can't shop in the toy dept. My DS's are 19 & 25.:p They thought the toy idea was great. My oldest wants a toy dragon made by Todd Mcfarlane, my youngest wants a toy guitar. :D:D:D

Gayle - I just wanted to say that my kids LOVE Runescape. My oldest is practically obsessed with it.

I have no idea what I'm getting my teen boys yet. They are so hard to buy for. So far, they want junk food and pop. :p My little girl (6) wants everything she sees. The things she wants most is a Bratz Hair color doll. It looks horrible and messy.

ETA - I like to receive skin care products and fitness DVDs/equipment!

On DD's christmas list this year:

Nintendo DS -- bought
American Girl doll Mia -- bought
Pixos -- bought
My Meeba -- bought
telescope -- not bought yet

Can you believe this is all that is on an 8yr old's list?!?! Last year her list was a page and 1/2 long! When I mentioned to her that she didn't have much on there she said "I don't need anything!". My heart smiled a little!!!

I have 3 nephews and 1 niece to buy for but I don't have any ideas for them yet except the middle nephew will be getting the Martian Matters. I'm actually off to order that now since it seems like it's a hot item this year.

Happy Christmas shopping everyone!! (I can't believe I've already started shopping...)

viola was asking for the fur real pets but i was thinking of actually going to the animal hospital and adopt a real pet LOL. it would be a great way to give her responsibility but having pets may ease the anxiety of autistic kids. she really likes kitties. she "meows" with the outside cats that come up on the porch.
