Roadtrippers Getting Ready

I'm with Tracy about the pushups -- I never do pushups when Cathe does them (I substitute chest presses or flies -- something else chest-wise, whatever I feel like). I can do the bent leg push ups, but usually just don't (I DO NOT LIKE pushups of any kind!) But if we're going to be doing them at the road trip (which I'm sure!), I'll need to have them down where I can do them! (at least the bent-leg version!) I guess I have a few months to start working on that, huh?!!

I feel good with the step choreography and the weights portion (I first started with Cathe doing step only --since the early 1990's.) Once you get her style down (which is incredible!), you're okay. That's with any workout of her's!

I'm sure I will have to modify some things (I always do from time to time when I work out with Cathe's tapes at home!) But -- I'm looking forward to meeting Cathe and everyone else! This is my first roadtrip -- I'm from Texas and really nervous (since I'm going alone - as far as the roadtrip part itself!). When my husband found out where I was going, he was only too ready to accompany me (he loves to gamble, so he will be in Atlantic City while I'm working out!)

Hi RT'ers,

This will be my first road trip. Very excited. Does anybody have any idea of what the step routine might be like. I have pretty much mastered all of her newer step routines. I'm not quite as graceful as Cathe on Body Max 2 (due to my heavy breathing), but it's still fun.
Don't think I'll change my routine too much either. I will continue with the monthly rotations as this should be enough pre-training for when we workout with Cathe and crew.

Hey all! I'm pretty darn excited about this trip! In fact I already found a roomie (hey Steph!), booked my airline, AND booked the hotel....I'm ready!! Okay, now all I have to do is whip myself into shape. I did start a new rotation, I did an outline plan for the 20 weeks and doing 3 week cycle rotations with a 1 week lighter taper week in between each one. This week I'm focusing on PS strength segments along with Intensity and Body Blast series cardio routines. I also typically alternate abs/core with floor legs every other day so will continue that. I'm also going to really focus on my eating as I'd like to lose about 15-20 lbs that I gained last year due to 2 surgeries and medications I was on. I have lost about 6 lbs in the last several weeks. Hi Carolyn,

If it's anything like the last RT, Cathe will ask us for our favorite moves and choreograph the step workout to use those. IIRC, we did Rhythmic Ls, fast foot repeaters, mambo cha chas, and pendulums across the step; in additional to the basic knees around the world, insoles up, long hop turns, etc.

To respond to the OP question - I'm not planning to change anything I wasn't already changing. I do need to clean my diet back up and increase the intensity of my workouts again, but that was in the works before this RT became official. :) The RT will be a good motivator to keep me on track, though!

One piece of advice - go lighter than normal when we use weights (because you'll be tired) and watch your form! Cathe will give you "the eye" if she catches you straining or using poor form with your weights. I actually stopped one exercise to lighten up because I was afraid I was going to get a lecture! :eek: I was clear across the room from her and she still caught me, and caught my eye in the mirror. :p
 
I am so used to working out at home ....no one to comment on my outfit, outrageous looking hair pulled back, silly noises/breathing and not to mention comments on the hard moves like all the push ups which I continually strive to do, but seem to say..."Cathe, I don't t h i n k s o !! I will strive to do better on the push ups and be more consistent with my eating and workouts. So many things were going on around my home, that workouts were getting pushed behind or not done. They are now a priority. I am almost ready to sweat!

I booked my room- and I asked my husband if he wanted to bring the kids and do daytrips, and I was so astonished when he thought it would be a great idea.. in fact, we are actually turning this into the beginning of our family vacation! So the whole family is excited about August 10th!

Keep up the great work! Everyone is so inspiring and motivating!

p.s. We can't rewind Cathe in the gym, can we???? Another adjustment I will have to think about!

ShellyC -- I'm ready to meet you and all the others as well. I'm also ready to have an excuse to buy some cute workout clothes. I workout home only and I will not let anyone see me in the clothes I presently work out in! It will be fun to go shopping for some new stuff!!!
 
Thanks Mona -- this is my first time! I have a tendency (at home) to try and go higher with my weights (no one sees me when I can't go any further!), but if Cathe is watching, I don't want her to see! It's probably much different seeing her in person actually giving YOU the "eye" instead of watching her on tape! Appreciate the heads-up -- I'm nervous because I don't ALWAYS do things the way Cathe does (I do modify!). I can do most things, but some I just can't -- I have to modify!

I am so excited about this trip! I guess I am going to follow Mona's advice and lighten up some on the weight and really perfect my form. For my anniversary last year my husband surprised me with a road trip to Cathe's gym ( we are about 3 hous away in New York) and I took a kickboxing class. It was so much fun and she was just the sweetest person ever! The gym itself was very laid back and everyone was so welcoming. So, for first time Road Trippers like me, I would just plan to be yourself and have fun! My friends all think it's so funny how going to work out for a whole weekend is the most exciting thing in the world to me. I love that there is a whole group of people who share my enthusiasm. Can't wait to meet all of you!
 
Ha! I know what you mean about your friends. Mine are like, "THAT'S your vacation?" To which I reply, "YES IT IS!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!" :7

I am also not really changing anything...just cleaning up the eating and trying to actually to match Cathe straight leg pushup for pushup!

I think that is the greatest thing that your husband did for you! It must have been a wonderful experience! Also thanks for the advice. I have read that Cathe is great and even by her responses to people, you can tell she is genuine. I too am excited about this trip!

I have one friend that loves Cathe workouts (not as much as me), and other friends that work out as well. We usually plan an annual or biannual trip to a local hotel, use their spa, hot tub, steam room, sauna, pool, gym, gym and gym and love it (we work out about three times in two days). It is great to workout together as a group when the group loves to do the same thing!

Getting together with the other RTers, it's going to be wild!

...I now have overcome some of my jitters and am excited about the trip! I was both overwhelmed and nervous when I booked...now just looking forward to it all. Hotel and flight are booked. Glassboro here I come...
