Road Trippers 3/27

Ivorygorgon-the only way to get over those pre-race jitters is to do races! LOL. Honestly! It is. I still get nervous. But I feel better with each and every race. Plus, if you KNOW that your trained and prepared for the race, that takes away a LOT of the stress! Good job setting that goal!

Gayle

Good morning ladies. How many do we have on this checkin? Seems like there are a lot of us!! Thanks so much everyone for posting your diets for the day. I am getting lots of great ideas for healthy plans. Kathy - yours looks great. Are you following any sort of plan or just doing your own thing? That is the #1 thing I need to work on.

Right now I am doing a recovery week (all cardio) from Slim Series. I did the slim training rotation for 3 weeks but I somehow hurt my foot, I think my shoes were all wrong. Anyhow, I've switched shoes and going to just ride my bike until it feels better.

So my workout last night was 30 minutes on the bike + 35 pushups and some abs.

Gin - I love GoLean Cereal...I have it every morning.

Gin and Jose - I have my eye on Lowmax. So you think I should get it?

Heather, I read your intro on the first thread and I've seen you over at yaya's. Your posts are so inspirational...I just love reading them. Looking forward to meeting you.

ShellyC - Happy belated birthday! (I'm still catching up on the these threads.)

Ivorygorgon - I am so impressed with your weighloss! 85 lbs?? WOW that is amazing.

Michelle - Hi roomie!!

Have a great day ladies!

Tess ATL,
Low Max is a must-have in my opinion! The workout is fun, easy on the knees, yet will definitely challenge you! The premixes included in the DVD are great as well. I highly recommend it!
Josie

Cheryl, I have you beat by a long shot. I'm going to be 52 when August rolls around. I'm very impressed - 30 triathlons and 10 marathons! Yikes. I thought I was tough for running 30 min.

Anyone else over 50, or will I win the prize for the oldest road tripper?

Hi everyone!
Its supposed to be 78 degrees today in Ct!!!Yeah!!! I did Amy Bento's Hilo extreme for the first time today. Wow, she has alot of energy!!!!It will take me some time to get all the moves down.....
This week is Cathe appreciation week for me, meaning that I am attempting other workouts for a change of pace. I'll be back to Cathe :) next Mon.

Kathy: Wow, I wish I could eat as clean as you. I'm trying!!!

Randi: Thats so cool that you want your Mom to come watch! I hope it works out for you!!!

Melissa: I hate it when work gets in the way of workouts!

Gayle: Eating after my daughter goes to bed is my biggest weakness. Its my time, and the first thing I want is to snack!!

Jean: Love your user name!!

Shelly C.: I hope you get some rest. Being an RN is very demanding, as I am sure you know!

Kara: I think Cardio Kicks is one of my favorites!

Michelle: Do you use weighted gloves during KP&CR?

Beth: I'm a little sore, too....

Gin: I love LM! It took me a while to get the moves; now I can do it all without tripping on my 2 left feet!

Josie: As I am reading your post, I am having a bowl of Kashi with strawberries!!(Maybe we should stock our hotel room up with it!!)

To everyone else: If I missed ya, I'm sorry! I hope you all have energizing workouts, and can't wait to meet you all. Have a great day!!! Take care, Nancy J.

Heather B.:
I almost forgot!! I love to do Firms on "down" days. They are kind of nostalgic for me, as thats where I started!!!

Please forgive me once again if I have left anyone out! Everyone is posting faster than I type:7 . Now I gotta go to work!!! Nancy~~

Hi Beth and Nancy,
No, I don't wear weighted gloves for KP&C, I could only imagine how my arms would feel after that.

I didn't do C&W premix #4, I did #1 Time saver step...I get the premixes all mixed up:p

Michelle:)

Good morning,

today is Power Hour on the rotation, but I am going to be on post !That means I am going to ride the bike for 40 min. instead. Have to go!

Have a great day!
Belinda & Alesia

Hello! Wow, I'll never be able to keep up w/everybody but I sure enjoy reading all the posts...and I will try:)

This morning I didn't get to eat which is very unusual for me - I did get a handful of dry Kashi Autumn Wheat and a black coffee. Right now I'm enjoying a small chef salad, snack will be an Activia, not sure about supper. I do need a little more to eat today...

Tonights workout is IMAX3, 200 walking lunges and 200 situps. (I'm doing the Aug05 Boot Camp rotation). Then I'll do my Beth Moore Daniel Bible Study homework and hope to be in bed by 10:00 (we'll see).

Lara, My GSD is 6 yrs old - and with all the squirrels out right now...he is driving me insane!!! }(

Keep up the good work girls you are doing a wonderful job!!!!:7

Hello everyone! Just got back from my power yoga class -- I go to a yoga studio that I love -- it's done in a warm room (about 85 degrees) and is usually 75-90 minutes. I always come home sopping wet but feeling great!

Gayle: 30 minutes of abs!!??!! You are my inspiration!

Jean: I'm not a big kickboxing fan either but I have promised myself to try it more before the RT!

Heather: No chocolate for 40 days -- OUCH! That's great!

ShellyC: Congrats on your 10K race! How is Barry's Bootcamp -- I don't have that one yet.

Cheryl: Good luck on your marathon! 30 triathlons -- WOW - I feel like a slug just reading your story!

Gin: My fellow Texan! I love Low Max - glad you liked it too! To answer your question yesterday - I am really enjoying Jari's Ripped 1000 - the cardio bursts are very short but intense. Some of the strength work is tough -- 70 pushups! I can't do that many and I'm on my knees! Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Tess: Get Low Max -- it's a great workout!

Tina: Imax 3, 200 walking lunges and 200 situps -- Yikes! And that rotation was next on my list to try - I better get my behind in gear!

To all the rest: Glad we're all here together -- sounds like everyone is getting in good workouts and eating well (eating is my downfall!)

I am truly inspired by all of you. Sounds like there are a lot of runners here -- I have never gotten into running but I admire you all for all the races you have run.

Gotta go get out of these sweaty clothes!
Namaste,
Colleen

Hi all! I'm in and out quickly so wanted to pop in and say hi. Looks like everyone is having an awesome day. I did cardio fusion and BMax 2 abs this a.m. Need to get outside while the weather is still somewhat nice and do a 3-4 mile walk as I prepare for my 60. I've been locked up in appointments all day for my drill team as our first parade approaches. (Did I mention that on this check-in? I coach a 50-girl jr pom-pom / drill team - grades 1-8. It's my first year coaching though may daughter has been on the squad for 3 years. Our first parade is the weekend after Easter - who knew there was this much to do?)

I also do read all the way through and want to learn everyone so I can do all the personals. We have such a great group!

Food has been good so far
B: Cinch drink (I use Cinch from Shaklee for weight loss), fruit, green tea
S: Almond butter (that's my treat - 1 tbsp of almond butter) with more green tea
L: Huge Salad

Don't know what the rest of the day will hold. Hope to be back in a bit and check in with everyone. See you soon.

Lorrie

I'll be walking the Komen 3-day (60 miles) the week after Cathe's RT. Here's my webpage.

Cheryl...wow! A full ironman....I am impressed. I have done 12 marathons, 2 50K's and lots of other races but my pastor wants me to try a Tri. I told him I would before I am 50....I'm 48 so I do have some time...:)..Good luck on your marathon this weekend.

ivorygorgon...good job getting the GS workouts and KPC!!! I agree with Gayle about the 5K...just jump right in, it'll be fun...:)

Tina...wow...200 sit-ups....not sure I have ever counted...:)..I'll have to check out that rotation.

Lorrie..thats great you are coaching. I bet it is alot of work. Good job with CF and abs from Bodymax2

I finished my workout and am enjoying a fruit smoothie.

L: big salad with various greens, onions, tomato, pinto beans, avocado and some oil and vinegar dressing
s: apple
D: Seitan stroganoff over basmati rice, salad and artichoke

Hi Carole! Yeh 200 sit-ups. That should be a breeze (insert evil witch laugh here) compared to week three on Monday: 100 toe touches, 100 burpees (squat thrusts), jog in place for 5 min, 100 jumping jacks, 100 alternating front lunges, low pulsing hover squats for 2 minutes, jump rope 5 minutes, 50 push ups, 400 sit-ups......then you had to repeat the whole thing again!!!! Tough stuff!!!!}( But very challenging and fun!

Wow, you gals and your marathons/running. That sure takes discipline!!! That's something I've never built up too. I did jog 1/4 mile yesterday, does that count?;-) My boss runs marathons and has for years and just qualified in January for the Boston marathon next year! I'm so proud of him, he'll be 59 next year!

Well, hi there fellow RTers! I got home from work too late last night to do Leaner Legs, so that's on the books for tonight. Thankfully, I had a rest day built in this week, so my scheduling won't be too much of a bother. I got up early this morning and did a 3 mile run. Didn't realize how fast I was going until I looked at my watch at the 2 mile point. I'd done that much in about 16 minutes. My usual pace is about 6mph, so that was a lot faster than usual! Whew!! No wonder I was out of breath! I slowed down and finished at a more normal pace.

Kathy, Great workout! Cardio & Weights is fun.

Randi, From what I've seen, your mom can come to the gym and watch, as well as using the facilities, as long as you provide her contact information ahead of time so they have it at the front desk. Not sure how we get that contact info to the RT coordinators, though.

Melissa, I love the GS series. Hope you have a great workout!

Gayle, The bike ride and frisbee with your kids sounds like a delightful way to end the day. Good for you setting a healthy, active example for the next generation.

Jean, HC Interval Blast w/legs  That scares me just thinking about it!

Heather, I'm looking forward to meeting you!! Your positive attitude always puts a smile on my face. I don't have those Classic Firms, but I still reach for (mostly) pre-GT Firms and HEAVY UP from time to time. It's a nice break from Cathe's intensity.

ShellyC, Great job on the 10K. I'm only up to about 4.5 miles at the moment and looking forward to the day I can make a 10K.

Kara, I did Cardio Kicks last Friday and Saturday. Didn't have time for the drills at the end on Friday night, so I tacked them onto TJ Cardio Party on Sat. CK is such a fun workout - I love when Cathe tells the guys, "You guys look so sweet back there!" Too cute!!

Michelle, It always surprises me how sore my arms are after a good kickbox workout. Especially my shoulders. Makes you appreciate the beauty of crosstraining, huh?

Beth, Sounds line you had a great workout at the gym. And Stretch Max 3, I just love. Something about the way the band gets in there just really feels good.

Gin, Low Max is great, isn't it? I haven't done that one in a while. I'll have to make sure it's in my next rotation.

Carole, I've been tempted to get BBC, but I'm on a self-imposed break from shopping right now. How is the intensity?

Robin, B&G makes me tired! :7 Is your signature a line from a Buffett song? I don't recognize it. . . .

Josie, Aren't the Pyramids just great? They work ya good and HARD!

Tess, I'll chime in here too. Low Max is a great workout. You should definitely get it.

Cheryl, My goodness, that sounds like a tough workout! IMAX 2 and PS Legs AND all those abs. WOW!!

Jennifer, Ohhhh. . . . Rhythmic Step. . . . I LOVE RS!! I absolutely have to add this to my next rotation as well. Have fun!

Kim, Your diet plan looks great. Yum!

Ivorygorgon, 5Ks are really fun! If you're intimidated by the masses of people, and you're not worried about your time, stay near the back of the pack. Most of the people back there walk, so you'll end up with plenty of space between you and the rest of the runners back there.

Nancy, I'm just now finally getting into Amy's first series of workouts. Once I have most of her moves down I plan to buy the new ones. Her Hi/Lo is sure tough!

Belinda & Alesia, Too bad you're missing PH, but 40 min on the bike will be a nice, low impact workout. Enjoy!

Tina, I'm afraid I won't be able to keep up with everyone either, but I'm going to try. Good luck with the Aug '05 rotation!

Colleen, Here's another Texas gal who's going on the RT. What part of TX are you in?

Do y'all mind if I join in here too? I'm a little slow and just now figured out that there was a Road Trip check in. :p

Anyway, this morning I did LIC Upper Body Circuit premix. I'm contemplating going for a run this afternoon but may hold off until tomorrow morning for that.

Now I need to go back and read the rest of the thread.... that could take a while! :) Hope you all are having a great day!

Gin - I started the day out with Low Max and I always add on the Leg Blast pre-mix to make it 90 minutes. I love this workout.

I plan to do Drill Max tonight. I remember when I first did DM, I thought I was going to die! Now, it seems it is getting much easier. But it is not easy by any means. I can tell I am getting in better shape cardiovascularly from this one.

I had my daughter take four new pictures of me this afternoon for my picture trail. It kind of makes me feel vulnerable, for everyone to see me in a two piece bathing suit.

Since I started going through menopuase a year and a half ago, it has been a real struggle! I had gained 15 pounds in a year and a half. It seemed to be all going to my abs. It was so depressing. I was able to maintain flat abs after having 10 children from eating well and working out.

Last August 5, I decided to give up diet Mountain Dew and to drink only water. I also gave up all sugar(this was huge for me). I have continued this since then. It will be 8 months on April 5 since I have totally cleaned up that part of my eating. I have lost the 15 pounds and have gotten my abs firmer and flatter.

Diet seems to be the key for us women who work out consistently, but still fail to get the results we want. Now that I have been off the sugar, I no longer crave it. But I do know that if I would take just one bite of it, that it would be all over!

We can stay in shape as we get older (51). It just takes alot of work. Many people will comment about my body and how I have had so many kids and all I have had to do is run after them to get back in shape. That is just too funny.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you women who are of like minds with me when it comes to eating right and exercising.

Cheryl

Good Afternoon RTers!

Cheryl--WOW! You are one accomplished woman! Good Luck on Sat! What marathons have been your favs? I've done Marine Corp, Austin and Chicago.

Jennifer--So glad to know I am not the only one that cannot do all of the "Big Girl" pushups in GS C&T!

Robin--I'm right behind you. I'll be 48 in August.

Michelle--What are your favs on Timesaver? I want to do that one next week.

Nancy--I also started with the Firm. I just don't think about doing them anymore.

Colleen--I've never done yoga in a heated room. Is that Bikram yoga? I plan on doing Jari's Ripped 1000 next week. Pushups...oh boy, can't wait!}(

Carole--What have been your favorite marathons??

I have an aqua jog class tonight. Does anyone else do that?

Gin

Cheryl - I just looked at your pictures and all I can say is WOW! Are you really 51? OMG I hope I look that good at 51 (or 35 for that matter which is right around the corner) and I have NO kids. You are truly an inspiration. Did you say you are a black belt in karate too? How awesome! You have a beautiful family (I assume the other pictures are your family). Anyhow, major kudos to you - you're my new idol. :p

Okay, all of your runners/marathoners are making me nervous!! And some of the workouts you all do are just amazing! Some days I wish I could work out longer or harder but with a 2-year old at home, I'm kind of limited to her nap time. By the time the boys get home, forget it! And I am NOT a morning person at all -- the boys are lucky I get up and make them lunch! I worked out a carpool where they get picked up every morning and I do the afternoons.

Mona: I am in Dallas -- what part of TX are you in?

Gin: It's not Bikram Yoga -- never tried that. But it is in a heated room (I think Bikram is done in a 100 degree room or higher -- not sure I could stand that!)

Cheryl: You look wonderful!! My abs are horrible and the part of my body I dislike the most. When I had my twin boys, I went full term and was carrying 14 lbs, 10 oz. of baby in there -- I was so stretched out, my belly would hit the steering wheel when I drove. I've never been the same -- can't get rid of this flab!! But my eating is not the best -- that's so hard for me. Maybe you can inspire me over the next 20 weeks!
