Road ID

I have a Road Id. I have the one that goes on your shoe. I heard that the wrist and ankle ones are better because emergency personnel would be able to see/find it easier.

You know I was thinking about this too, . . but I've decided to just run with my cell phone which has my name and phone number taped on it. I'm curious if anyone else runs with a cell phone?

I have the one that is velcro and you attach it to your shoe laces. I LOVE IT!! I put it on each new pair of running shoes and leave it at that. I would forget to put on the wrist/ankle ones. I frequently run while travelling and its great - all my necessary contact information is there should something happen to me. It gives me great piece of mind.

I like my road ID because it actually says who to call in an emergency. Also, I once killed a cell phone while running and so don't usually carry one unless there is a particular need.

I wear a Road ID wrist band, bright yellow. I also have a 'toe tag' (as I call it, lol) on my shoe that I got from my first marathon that has all my contacts in it too. One can't be TOO safe, ya know?

i do...i figure it has the phone numbers/names of my family listed on it if anything bad happens.

I run with my phone and a small piece of paper with DHs phone #. Am thinking about getting a road id for my DD and myself. some of my running clothes don´t have a place for the phone, so I learned from her to stick in in my bra :)

I used to do that too until I killed a very nice phone that way. Apparently sweat is as bad over time as dumping it in salt water. And the phone company wouldn't honor the warranty/insurance because it was considered water damage. Oh well.

I run with my cell phone and pepper spray ever since some guy in a truck seemed to be stalking me while I was out running a few weeks back. Since the cell phone not only has my name on it, but has my DH and DD both listed as emergency contacts I don't think I would need the RoadID.

I do, but it's an iPhone, so all my workout podcasts and music are on it!

On travel, I go out with a sheet of paper, but haven't done that when I'm hiking in the woods by our home. Sounds like a good idea to have something more permanent - thanks for mentioning it!

Another safety tip for road warriors: I always, always, always write the names of whoever I am having dinner with or meeting, on business travel, on a piece of paper I keep in my hotel room. And usually I also email someone with their name via blackberry if I go out with a group ad hoc.

I really should get one of these. I've had too many close encounters with cars, not to mention the occasional creeper.
