Real controversy--Let's talk pie!

Not much of a pie fan, but I'd probably get the pecan, pick all the nuts off, and throw the gooky stuff underneath away. :p

Every Thanksgiving I made a pumpkin cheesecake with pecan-butter-brickle crust. Omigod, is that gooooooood!

I also agree with chefkate....neither! Chocolate! Specifically, THIS chocolate pie:

(Since it's made with tofu, it's good for you, right?)

Moo-Less Chocolate Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chocolate chips,
  • 1/3 cup coffee liqueur
  • 1 block silken tofu
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 prepared chocolate wafer crust
Directions

Place a small metal bowl over a saucepan with simmering water. Melt the chocolate and coffee liqueur in the bowl. Stir in vanilla.

Combine the tofu, chocolate mixture, and honey in the blender jar. Liquefy until smooth.

Pour the filling into the crust and refrigerate for 2 hours, or until the filling is set.

This is an Alton Brown recipe, BTW: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/moo-less-chocolate-pie-recipe/index.html

jodijodi, this one sound good, I should try this one everything whit tofu....

Ok back to pie, PUMPKIN PIE. My DH found this Paula Deen recipe and we do it every year.

OMG! A client just dropped off a Pecan-Pumpkin Pie last week. It has a lower layer of pumpkin, middle layer of pecan with ground pumpkin seeds and chopped pecans on top. I guess it would be a pie-vestite, but I can't tell if it's pre-op or post-op because I never tried it, but my boss loved it!
