***PYGFO Sept 7-13***

Hi PYGFOers!

This morning I started my 2nd week of the pushup challenge and then did PP chest and back and 4ds chest and back. Had to get ready for church, but now I plan to do 4ds BC and a few assisted chin ups and pullups.

Laura~Glad to hear that everyone is well in your house again! That is great that your DH works out as well. Maybe you are an inspiration to him! My DH is doing well to run or lift weights 1 or 2 times a week, which is better than nothing!

Lara~Hope that your precious DD is getting her days and night figured out! Can't wait to see some pics!!

Hi Robin and Liann and Randi and anyone else that pops by!
Have a great day!:D

PYGFO Check-in

PYGFO Sisters:

Good news! I started deep cleaning my war room this weekend and found my game face! I am back in the game and ready to start checking in with y’all again. After a summer break from rotations and a vacation from Cathe’s workouts, I am alive and energized and ready to keep my focus and game face on. I can do it! I am hoping to start STS the first week in January, and I need to start training and practicing push-ups!

I woke up bright and early this morning, enjoyed my quiet time, updated my weight and measurements, took a few pictures, and started a new journal. I blasted off my new rotation with Cathe’s 4-Day Split Kickbox cardio premix. Fun, fun, fun! This is my favorite kickboxing workout. It still makes my heart smile, and I love the music and fun moves. I prayer walked for 30 minutes tonight and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

I am returning to a plant-based way of eating with an abundance of fruits and veggies. I am still embracing intuitive eating and gentle nutrition. I love the freedom of listening to my body and not counting calories or calculating ratios. Legalism and lists and logs do not work for me. This way of eating gives me energy for workouts and freedom to enjoy life when I focus on eating fruits and veggies first. I am free to enjoy treats in moderation, but I am choosing to bless my body with wholesome and nutrient-dense food. Do you want to get well? This is the question I keep asking myself when my desire for food is driven by lust or when I am tempted to coast through my workouts.

I feasted on fresh blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, and watermelon for lunch with a handful of dry-roasted nuts for protein and fat. Yummy! I also started drinking Emergen-C again, and I blessed my body with a long nap this afternoon. It was a restful Sunday, and I am refreshed and ready to take on a new week.

I went to HEB on the way home and filled my cart with plenty of fruits and veggies as well as feta cheese, nuts, natural peanut butter, raw honey, organic raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing, a variety of raw fruit and nut bars, and spring water. I am still eating when I am hungry until I am satisfied. I am amazed at how much less I eat when I choose whole foods.

I wanted to start running this weekend but decided to walk tonight to protect my joints until I lose another 30 pounds or so. I may be able to handle intervals of running on the track at the club, but not on concrete. I am listening to my body and taking it one day at a time.

It feels so good to be back in the game! I feel more positive about my fitness journey and life than I have all year. It is time to wrap up this day and bless my body with restful sleep. I am looking forward to a fun step workout in the morning!

Lara, I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your precious little one! Congratulations!

Hugs to Laura, Gin, Liann, Robin, and Randi.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Hi, Heather. I was just about to post and ask about you (I was sure you were still reading but just hadn't posted), and here was this wonderful post from you. Praise God for the corner that you've turned.

I'm getting my game face on today too, after some chosen rest time and then imposed rest time. I was trying to decide what workout to do, and the 4DS cardio premix you did sounds great. I think that's what I'll choose.

Hello to Randi, Liann, Gin, Robin, Lara, and Finley! ;)

Morning gals. I got home from a lovely three day sports car event in Watkins Glen last night and didn't have time to get on line. Yay for Finley! Lara, I'm so glad to hear all is well, except a little jet lag. I can't wait to see pictures.

Heather, the changing season is a great time to re-commit to healthy living. Good luck and post often!

Gin, the new DVD player is working fine. It's nothing too elaborate. I'm glad I only had to rely on VHS for one day. I thought I had more on tape, but I guess I've cleaned out the closet too many times.

Liann, how'd you make out with Hanna? I guess we had a lovely all day rain here. We had nice, warm, sunny weather in the Finger Lakes.

Hi to Laura and Randi. I hope to join Heather in a recommitment to workouts and better eating. After a weekend of fat filled breakfasts and wine filled evening, I'm not even going to look at the scale. I hope the weather stays warm enough that I don't have to try to squeeze into jeans either.

Good morning ladies!

Laura - Glad to hear that everyone is healthy in your household again. :)

Gin - Push-up challenge, huh? What's the details on that one? I need to start working up my push-up endurance again too.

Heather - I'll have to use you to give me some inspiration to get my game face on too. I have been way out of touch with exercising lately. Maybe 4DS will help me get back into the swing of things.

Robin - We pretty much lucked out with Hanna. We had rain all day long, but missed out on any of the wind. The weather has been so much cooler ever since Saturday though. It's kind of a bummer for pool activities. I guess I need to come to grips with the fact that I will be having to close it soon. :( Glad you had such nice weather!

Hello.

I am going to try to work on pictures today. We have had lots of unexpected events occur. My DH's grandmother passed away and he had to leave town (he is back now). Then, my dog was playing fetch and cut the bottom of her foot open and had to have surgery yesterday. She is ok, but has to wear one of those cone things so she won't chew out her stitches. She is not happy about that!
If anyone wants to pm me their email address, I can send you the pictures they took of her in the hospital. Finley is doing well and is sleeping better at night (Yay!!). I will be back later for personals (and hopefully pictures).

PYGFO Check-in

PYGFO Sisters:

This was another victorious day. I woke up early this morning and sat in front of my light box during my Bible study time. The days are getting shorter, and I am hoping to keep the seasonal blues at bay with light therapy.

After my quiet time, I enjoyed the 4-Day Split Lower Intensity Step cardio premix without a step. I had already decided to limit step to once a week to protect my knees. It only took a few minutes for me to realize that even the platform with no risers is placing extra stress on my knees at this weight. My feet were hurting this morning too. I could have simplified the choreography and removed the spins and turns I love, but I decided to enjoy this as a low impact workout on the floor. I had fun, smiled the whole time, and still got a great workout without stress or impact. I am 20 pounds lighter than I was on the 4th of July, but I am a 30 pounds heavier than I was when I was enjoying Cathe’s step workouts every week. I am learning to treat my body with gentleness and respect. This is a marathon, not a sprint. I need to pace myself so I can finish the race!

I enjoyed my favorite breakfast this morning of an organic banana and steamed steel-cut oatmeal with natural peanut butter and raw honey. Lunch was a huge salad with romaine lettuce, spring mix, baby spinach, raw walnuts, feta cheese, and raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Yummy! I treated myself to one of the new Larabar flavors for an afternoon snack, and it tasted just like a peanut butter cookie! I like some of the other flavors, but this one is my new favorite. Dinner was a steamed white potato sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and a big bowl of steamed kale and blueberries for dessert. I drank plenty of spring water today and sipped Bengal Spice herb tea instead of drinking caffeine. I am still embracing intuitive eating and listening to my body. I am sure I will crave more protein when I start weight training again.

I am looking forward to Supersets in the morning. I love the music, and this is the one weight workout that is pure fun for me. It is not as intense as Cathe’s more challenging workouts and is a great way to ease into weight training after a summer break.

It is time to start wrapping up this day. I am ready to enjoy a warm bubble bath and read a few chapters of a book. One of my goals is to bless my body with more sleep. I was in bed well before midnight last night. I am hoping to eventually move my bedtime up to 10:00 p.m. or earlier since I like to wake up at 4:00 a.m.

Laura, I am praising God indeed! I have had some intense battles since our Texas reunion Memorial Day weekend. Thank you for the prayers and encouragement.

Robin, we are in this together! I appreciate all your prayers and concern for me this summer too.

Liann, I love your new avatar! What a pretty picture! I am sending inspiration your way. Open your arms wide and receive it!

Lara, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband’s grandmother and your dog’s surgery. I am keeping y’all in my prayers. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of Finley! How are you feeling?

Gin, hugs to you!

Randi, I miss you!

Blessings,
Heather B.

Hi Girls!

Today I did the pushup challenge and then PP bis and tris and 4ds bis and tris. Tomorrow is run ( but if raining I'll do LIC cardio) and LIS abs. I have been busy with my new job putting in a lot more hours than I am used to, but I refuse to give up my workout time! Too important!!

Heather~So good to see you posting again. It sounds as if you are doing well with good nutrition and Cathe workouts. Can't go wrong with that combo!

Robin~A sports car event? That sounds interesting! Glad the dvd player is working out for you.

Liann~Go to www.hundredpushups.com and you will see the 6 week challenge and rotation based on the # you are currently able to do. At the end of 6 weeks you are supposed to be able to do 100 pushups!! I want to be as ready as I can be for STS and I am definitely challenged with the pushups.

Lara~How is that sweet baby? And how are you?

Take care all!:)

PYGFO Sisters:

I am still keeping my focus and game face on! After my Bible study time this morning, I completed my first weight workout since Memorial Day. Supersets is one of Cathe’s more intermediate workouts, but it was a good challenge for me after a vacation from weight training. I lost some upper body strength this summer, and the lower body work is more challenging with the extra weight I am carrying now. I am glad I decided to start with Supersets and Push Pull this week. I love the music, and the shorter length is just right for me. I chose lighter weights to maintain good form.

My cycle started unexpectedly this morning with no PMS this month! I usually crave sugar and chocolate the day before my cycle starts. This is good news!

I enjoyed a blueberry Trio bar for snack this afternoon. One of my Texas Road Trip sisters introduced me to these clean treats this year. Yummy!

I am feeling good spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. I am tired physically, and my feet hurt all the time. I remember how much fun I had last year dancing around my step, and that memory inspires me to keep pressing on until I am lighter on my feet! Even the fun workouts are work at this weight and size. I have faith that I will feel better when I get closer to 200 pounds. Even though weight is not my focus, I will be doing the happy dance when I reach the milestone of 210 pounds (which is what I weighed during the 2007 Road Trip). I am praising God that I do not still weigh 260 pounds like I did in July. I did not need a seatbelt extender on the airplane this time, so 20 pounds makes a big difference! I am still well over my body’s breaking point. I walked for 30 minutes Sunday night, and that hurt my feet more than Cathe's workouts. I think the repetitive motion in the same direction is not good for me. I need to limit my walking to the pool until I lose more weight. The water supports my weight and feels so good. I went shopping with Mom Labor Day weekend and had such a hard time keeping up with her. I want to feel better, have more energy, and live without pain in my feet and joints. This is a marathon, not a sprint. I am learning to listen to my body and pace myself by starting with Cathe’s shorter premixes and intermediate workouts and mixing in walking in the pool and other gentle workouts as well. Fitness is about freedom, not a size. My goal is to live fit and free. I am gonna make it this time! I believe!

Gin, thanks for keeping me company today. Where are our PYGFO sisters? That push-up challenge sounds interesting. What does it suggest if you are currently able to do zero push-ups with good form? LOL!

Hugs to Lara, Laura, Liann, Randi, and Robin.

Blessings,
Heather B.

We've had internet problems this week, so I haven't been able to get on to post! It has been so good to be back to working out. :D

Today is actually off, but yesterday was LIC--loved it. I think I may have to modify my "top 5" Cathe faves on my home page pretty soon. I haven't decided what to do tomorrow. I'm considering Low Max. My wrist is doing much better, but I'm still working more on cardio and legs than on upper body. And I love workouts like LM and B&G that work the lower body without heavy weight--since I still have trouble lifting heavy with my wrist.

This week has been crazy with social activities--I've had somewhere to go everyday--and we have visitors coming over tonight. So I'm about to head out to my garden with my Ipod and have some quiet "me" time!! :D

Hugs and waves to everyone. Hope to check in with personals tomorrow!

Laura

PYGFO Sisters:

I woke up early yesterday morning and enjoyed the Kick, Punch, & Crunch cardio conditioning premix after my quiet time. Cathe’s shorter premixes are just right for my energy level this week. My upper body was sore from Supersets.

Cathe hosted a chat during my lunch hour yesterday, and I asked her if she is planning to post more STS video clips and a blog update soon. I would love to see one of the leg workouts as they will likely be my favorites of this series. She told me that new video clips will be posted as soon as they are available. I am hoping to receive STS by Christmas so I can have a preview party and get ready to start the first week in January. The season between New Year’s Day and Easter is the best time of year for me to focus on a serious rotation like this. I also asked Cathe about all the push-ups in STS, and she encouraged me to modify and do as many as I can on my knees until I am able to do one on my toes. That is my first goal for STS. I cannot imagine doing a push-up on my toes, but all things are possible. Hopefully, push-ups will be less challenging when there is less of me to push!

I went to the club late last night, turned off the overhead lights, turned on the underwater lights, and enjoyed a refreshing time of jogging in the pool and praying.

I woke up this morning with the 9-11 anniversary on my heart and prayed for all the people who lost loved ones 7 years ago. After my Bible study lesson on God’s unfailing love, I completed Push Pull. This one is more meditative than Supersets. I like both of them for different reasons. Supersets is more fun for me and does not have any leg presses or inverted shoulder presses. Speaking of Supersets, my upper body was (and is) still sore from my Tuesday morning workout.

It is time to wrap up this day. I am still tired and thankfully sleeping well at night.

Laura, thanks for keeping me company today. I love Butts and Guts and Low Max too!

Blessings,
Heather B.

Randi--Good for you, girl! I am so thrilled for you with your plans to go back to school. If you train to be an RN, that'll be tough. But, hey, you've made it through multiple Cathe workouts so you can make it through anything. LOL. ;)

Today was CTX Kickbox for me. It was really fun.

Laura

What a lovely Saturday.

I cleaned out my email inbox, then worked out in my garden pruning. After lunch, I actually took a nap. Wow. Then the kids went over to a friend's house, and I did B&G, the overall legs premix. I liked the workout, but it did have a lot of repetition. Now it's time for a shower before supper.

How is everyone's weekend going?

Laura

PYGFO Sisters:

Good morning. I hope y’all are having a lovely weekend. I woke up early this morning and wrapped up my grocery shopping for the week before the storm arrives. Ike is already kicking up the wind. A friend who evacuated from Beaumont is staying in Dallas this weekend. I would love to visit her, but this is not a good day to be on the road. This is a good day to rest, read a book, and clean. I am praying for everyone in the path of Ike. Galveston and Houston are being hit hard.

Randi, it is good to see you again. I am so excited for you!

Laura, it sounds like you are having a great day. The leg blast premix is my favorite!

Blessings,
Heather B.
