PYGFO Sisters:
This is my Friday update because I got home to late to check-in. It was a good Friday! Yes, I enjoyed my beloved Rhythmic Step. Fun, fun, fun! I would love Cathe to create another dancy step workout like this one. She has other plans, but I can dream!
After praying and pondering, I am taking a vacation from the whole weight loss thing. I am ready to take a break. No planned rotations. No formal diet (other than staying away from food allergy triggers). I am playing with double cardio (morning and night) and enjoying whatever workouts suit my fancy each day. Just for fun! No pressure to lose weight! No focus on the scale! I am loving this! Fitness is about freedom, not a size! I will likely enjoy a few circuit training workouts and lower body workouts too just because I love them.
As of Friday morning, it has been 4 years and 9 months ago I started my fitness journey (also on a Friday morning). It is time for a new focus for a season. I am inspired to clear clutter from my closets and establish peace and order in my home. I need a few weeks or months of planned maintenance with my weight so I can focus on renewing my mind and transforming my home into a sanctuary for my soul. I am craving free time and me time to rest, relax, read books, journey through Bible studies, and enjoy living in the moment. I want to be fresh and focused when STS arrives, and I believe this extended holiday will be good for me in more ways than one.
I took the batteries out of my scale Friday morning and packed it in the closet. I had to weigh more often than I like in March while I was doing the food allergy challenge to see how my body reacted. I am free to return to monthly weigh-ins. Yippee!
I went to the club after work and jogged in the pool. My workout partner has given up on our 40 days of fun and freedom challenge already. I think she quit before she started because she never met me at the club for any of our workouts this week. Oh well. I am having fun and hope she will be inspired to join me. I am very concerned about her health. She had weight loss surgery a few years ago and is gaining weight at an alarming weight again. She never got close to a healthy weight after the surgery. I met her and her sister at Books-a-Million last night, and her sister is in an even more desperate situation. I am taking a leap of faith and trusting that I can maintain my weight without focusing on the scale and food. Yes, I can! As long as I eat and sleep to bless my body and exercise as an act of worship, I will reap the rewards of a healthy lifestyle.
I am eating more intuitively too. I was craving something sweet last night, and I enjoyed a pumpkin muffie from Panera Bread. I savored every bite and was very satisfied. There is no need to eat a big muffin. The muffie top is the best part!
I bought Peter Walsh’s new book tonight called Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat? I enjoyed his writing style when I read It’s All Too Much last year and was inspired to clear a bunch of clutter out of here. I am hoping his weight loss encouragement will inspire me as well. It is not a diet book or exercise plan. He coaches you through the journey of examining your relationship with your body and food. He also believes that the clutter in your home and the excess baggage on your butt are connected. I do too.
Liann, I always prefer walking at the lake or the zoo! I love the scenery. Treadmills seem to make my feet numb too. Being a Texas girl, I do listen to country music (but not for workout music). ;-)
Randi, I thought of you as soon as I saw the blog picture. Cathe looks amazing. I love that picture with them posing around the squat rack. I hope Cathe includes it in the next calendar or the STS book. The Fitness by Cathe weighted vest looks awesome too. I love the pretty blue, and this style is not bulky and confining like other weighted vests I have seen. It looks more feminine too!
Cynthia, welcome to the check-in. It is good to see you. Jim is in my thoughts and prayers. What a story! I have a slow dial-up connection, so downloadable workouts are not an option for me yet.
Lara, enjoy brunch and have fun shopping.
Blessings,
Heather B.
